I've never posted before, and in fact had to join the board just so I could post this! I've been a lurker for quite a while and really enjoy the board. I've been noticing on some other sites that people are speculating that maybe Rafe took Nicole's toothbrush and not Sami's so while it will appear that the DNA test proves that Sami's the mother while in fact it will be Nicole's baby. Or that EJ won't be the father if it is Sami's baby. Please tell me that after all of this, they will let this baby be EJ and Sami's baby and will not let EJ or Sami lose this little girl somewhere down the road - (as we all know they will find out in the short term that she is their baby)! I think that they've both been through enough as far as losing a child - whether or not the child was actually their's or not. While it was sad that Nicole miscarried her baby she in no way deserves for Sydney to be hers after all the manipulating she has done, and recently she has only gotten worse. I would like to see her be able to conceive another baby, someday, with someone else (like Brady). This baby swap story has seen enough twists and turns and I for one would like to see everyone deal with the fallout now, without there being yet another bomb to drop about it later.

While I do think that Sydney's is Sami's baby and the DNA will prove that, there are some out there that think there is a chance that EJ is not the bio father, b/c they are not testing EJ's DNA and the prior test was fixed by Stefano. I guess at one point when Lucas was released from prison and staying at the mansion on house arrest that he was wandering around the mansion and found himself in Sami's room/bed??? I honestly don't remember, but if that is true, then I guess there is a chance that Lucas could be the father. This is just some people's guess, not a fact or spoiler. I think we are, unfortunately, in for some more twists and turns before it is over.

Is there only one bathroom in the penthouse? I have shared a bathroom with guest(s) before and no one has ever put their toothbrush right next to mine in tb holder/cup - their toothbrush has remained in their makeup bag/dop kit for their stay.

I don't know if the writers are creative enough to come up with your scenario - most of the time the stories twists and turns are WAY less exciting than they promote them to be. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Anyway, welcome to DR!

Lucas right off the bat said that this baby couldn't be his. This is probably one of the few babies in recent memory that has no realy WTD drama.

I agree, but it just seems to me that it is all so obvious that they are both the parents of Sydney-- almost too obvious for a soap, that there has to be something else factoring in with all this. I wish there weren't, b/c I think we need to move on from it, but you never know. ole Doc Baker may still be alive and give some insight.

No baby switch story will ever live up to the greatness of Kristen/Susan/Elvis, so Days should just stop now.

Very true.

I would be very happy if Doc Baker was alive - he and Nicole were fun!

I still think there's more to the story. I'm quite sure Dr. Baker will resurface by next year.

I agree. I've seen the spec about Lucas sleepwalking, but if those scenes had actually happened on screen, people would've been all over it as soon as it aired. They've also told us that EJ and Sydney have the same birthmark, too.

Years down the line, anything could happen, but I wouldn't worry about it.

Very true, Kenny. The JT/Zach switch was great too, but the Kristen/John/Susan story was gold.

While I am enjoying this current storyline and can't wait for the truth to come out; I could not agree with you more Kenny! That was the ultimate baby switch storyline and to top if off when it got figured out by Marlena, Kristens way to keep the truth secret was awesome! The 90's were just one great storyline after anothe...unfortunately I don't think that will happen ever again.

So true. Especially for John and Marlena. They had so much amazing stuff in the 90's, from the affair to Maison Blanche to the Possession to Aremid to the Secret Room... the list goes on.

As good as that story was in the end, I found most of it absolutely absurd at times. Late 1996 was when JER first showed signs of going bad and that continued in 1997. By the time his last stuff aired in Fall 1997, I was ready for him to go. That isn't to say he didn't do good things. The Kristen/Susan story was entertaining and we got the Carrie/Austin/Sami/Lucas climax but there was alot of stuff that was a bit too much. You could start to see signs of 2003-2006 JER in that last year he was on the show. It's ok to expect some suspension of disbelief but he was beginning to just be outlandish just for the sake of being outlandish. It was entertaining but it expected way too much for the audience IMO.

I would take the Hope/Lexie switch over Kristen/Susan any day. It was an actual baby switch story. That was classic soap storytelling and it built over a long period of time whereas the Kristen/Susan stuff only lasted 7 months (which I know is due to JER getting ready to leave but still). The Hope/Lexie story lasted two years and it did so much for the canvas. Lexie went evil and we finally get an actual story for her and Abe, the Hope/John affair was at the center of it, it propelled Stefano out of Salem, The Brady's experienced heartbreak giving up JT, etc. The show got 6 months worth of aftermath out of that story and if there were any justice Days would've won several Emmy's in 2002 for the aftermath. It had such emotional resonance. I felt nothing close to that with the Kristen/Susan story. I didn't even feel it was an actual story. It was merely part of a bigger story, which is why I find it hard to put it along side the Nicole/Sami baby switch and the Hope/Lexie baby switch. The only emotional resonance was in John and Marlena getting together and Kristen getting exposed so the focus wasn't even primarily on the switch in the end, which is what hurts the story. The baby switch came off as just part of a larger story, the continuing saga of Marlena/John/Kristen. That's fine but it keeps me from even considering the Kristen/Susan stuff much of a story as much as it was a twist. I actually found the stuff at the end of the year with John getting Elvis back from Kristen for Susan just in time for Christmas to be more emotionally compelling where the baby was concerned and even more of an actual story. Im thinking that Rafe has picked up the wrong tooth brush,he just concluded that it was Sami's tooth brush and didnt think twice. When Stefano asked Ej what would he would have done if that was indeed his real child he said he would have the same arrangement as him and Sami's, so thats telling me that, yes this could end up being Ej and Nicoles baby with the comical relief of Dr.Baker backmailing her with her own child. Baker got the last laugh. Ej and Sami will think this is their child, she goes back to him, Ej finds out that the child is not Sami's but since he loves Sami, he will keep it from her wanting her to stay with him. But that is just a theory, but as we all know the truth always comes out one way or the other.

I still think his best stuff was when he first started with Sheri Anderson and right through early 1996. Halfway through 1996 he began to lose it. I also had trouble with the possession story at times but still found it to be a great story because of the love story aspect of it.

He did write J&M like a poet though. That I will never disagree with. And that affair story in 1992-1994 that he and Sheri wrote is IMO the best and most emotionally raw stuff Days has ever had.
