I watched the pilot last night and I liked it enough to keep watching. In the other thread I posted how much I loved it when it came on TV, so I was very excited they are doing it again.

Pro's
-Nice changes in the heroes as far as making the guy a priest and the heroine an FBI agent. And other touches that kept it different but still similar, especially the overall theme of the aliens coming in peace is a ruse, although the series could go the other way too. I am betting the young V will be the one to get pregnant, so I am looking forward to seeing how that baby fits in. Assuming there wasn't interspecies breeding already.
-The Visitors have been here for years, living amongst us.
-The line where the priest said something about friendliness turning into devotion and I think worship. This is so true about our society, IDK if it's because more people dont go to church but sometimes it appears that people are hungry for worshipping things that are bigger than themselves.
-It was good how they took a relevant topic like terrorism and wove into the story. Also, even after the initial visit, people still have to go to work the next day.
-LOL about "universal healthcare", great buzz word.
-Seems like they have invested a lot of money in this project, it looks like a movie rather than a series.

Cons
-I am disappointed in the Visitors outfits. When I was a kid I loved the red jumpers! What they have on look like airlines attendants
-Ana the supreme being is pretty and I like how she looks with the short hair but she is too robotic. Diana from the original was so striking, this lady in on the bland side.
-The heroine is also not as pretty as the original blond heroine played by Faye Grant (?). I don't like the way this lady looks but I am hoping she is able to top Julie from the original. I still remember Diana trying to brainwash Julie in the coversion chamber, that was such a great performance.
-Maybe I am remembering wrong but I thought the idea behind tagging the letter V in red stood for "Victory" and the resistance would spray paint it all over town. Right now they show the kids doing it in support of the Visitors.
-It felt short, it ended and I said "that's it?".

I thoroughly enjoyed the pilot. I thought it was full of subtle nuances of the original but completely modernized. I loved Morena Baccarin as Anna. Compared to her role in Firefly, she looks so different here. She has that appeal that Jane Balder had as Diana, IMO. The sexiness with all the mystery and intrigue. I also enjoyed the rest of the cast, from Elizabeth Mitchell to Morris Chestnut and Joel Gretsch. I think Scott Wolf will work well in the journalist role, especially if he continues to go down the road Kristine from the original did.

I also liked how we were just thrown in the middle of it all and asked to hop on for the ride. It was a refreshing change from having to wait for so much build up. Just like the original, we literally came in right in the mix of things.

What's nice about this version so far, unlike the original, is the dichotomy between devotion to the visitors and devotion to religion. The original had more of a Nazi undertone whereas this version seems like it will have similar tones but with different themes of blanket devotion.

My only two issues where that bit at the beginning with "Where were you...". I thought that felt out of place and seemed like it was from a promo and you could kind of tell where they reworked stuff from the pilot/script they first shot.

I know the creators have said they'd be open to original cast members coming on board, so to play devil's advocate for a moment, I'd love to see Jane Badler(Diane from the original) come in at some point as Anna's superior and Faye Grant(Julie in the original) come in as Erica's V sympathizing mother.

I just watched it and I wasn't too impressed. It looked great and it must have cost a bundle, I also liked the twist with the Ryan character being a V.

Cons:
-The uniforms or lack thereof. I loved the red uniforms and the visitors now look so bland and grey.

-The cast. Marc Singer might not be a thespian but he sure had charisma as a hero something that seems to be lacking in this version. I thought the cast of the new V were all pretty much bland and boring which leads me to the biggest blunder IMO.

Anna or NuDiana as I call her. She is just boring and pretty. Diana (Jane Badler) was fierce, gorgeous and delicious, this NuDiana looked like the typical model/actress who got lucky getting this killer gig.

You remeber correctly, V stood for Victory or Victorious.

Ps. When are they gonna eat the gerbils? They better not have cut that out from the original, that was like the best part.

I thought it was a hot mess. Good effects and stuff, but what a cheesy mess! Too cheeseball for me.

I missed the red uniforms as well, but it didn't bother me enough to not enjoy it.

They've seemed to allude to the eating the hamster scene in several interviews. They gotta do it! LOL

I thought it was lame. The only reason I watched is because every goddamn second week, this show blocks off my street (literally 1 block away) to film in this apartment building called 'the waterfall building.' It's going to be the Peace Ambassador Centre starting next episode. The same architect, Arthur Erickson, also built my university (which is frequently featured in sci-fi shows, such as battlestar galactica!). Anyway, yeah, down the block from me they turn the area into new york city with yellow cabs and NYPD cars. The other week, someone tried to flag down a fake NYC cab, LOL.

This pilot was a helluva mess, and that's putting it lightly. Problems:

1) timeline: the show clearly skipped ahead 6 months or so, yet bothered to let us know - inferring something like that simply isn't enough, especially in the first episode. Spell it out for us!

2) fake skin over reptilian aliens: good lord! How is this even possible? Do the aliens constrict like snakes to fit into their fake skin? And seriously, how do they have sex with humans? Sorry to be crude, but if a human penis goes into an aliens 'fake' vagina, I'm guesing it's all reptil-y up there. The other problem I see with this is how their alien parts work under the fake skin. The alien eyes are obviously bigger than the 'fake' human ones, so how does this affect their vision? Lastly, I think it's ridiculous that they're reptiles at all. Reptiles are a part of, and have evolved with Earth and Earth's history. Even if there was another planet out there similar, I highly doubt animals would evolve exactly the same.

And how the HELL did they learn every human language if they just got to Earth? LOL. This show is laughable.

See, I'm so on the fence watching V! I remember coming home and DYING to see it! Then as kids we would talk about how creepy the skin was or the eating of the mouse (mousy-mousy..LOL)

I think I will wait and watch when it comes back after the break it takes. I also hate the commercials on network TV, so I hop its online or something?

My brother watched it and said it was ok....but also commented on the boring, dull grey uniforms! And I miss the old cast- Marc Singer, Faye Grant, and Jane Badler...how can you NOT have her!

It would be nice to have one or all these actors have some role or be referred to in this series!

Finally saw it. Loved it! Of course, I remember the original 'V' and what an unbelievably HUGE deal it was at the time (2 mini series and then a regular series). I even bought the comic books!

I take it you've never been a big Sci-Fi junkie

We will get those questions answered as the show progresses.

^^LoL!

Also, I don't think they jumped 6 months into the future. Didn't they just jump ahead three weeks and wasn't it placed in bold letters at the bottom of the screen?

Rick, you're right about that. I haven't really been into sci-fi - I am a Star Wars fan, mainly Ep 1-3, but not hardcore or anything (I'm still wondering how they all speak English...and how it was a 'long, long time ago' unless the story is being told WAY in the future, but I digress).

Anyway, V is on hiatus. I was talking to a guy down the street from me on the show (when they were filming like 3 weeks ago), and there's no plans to block off the street anytime soon. I've seen that Anna chick walking around here quite a bit though - when filming, she goes to the Starbucks that's the midway point between my place and 'the waterfall' building.

To be honest, I had a good laugh when watching - I could point out nearly everywhere they were filming. They blatantly used downtown Vancouver for downtown NYC scenes, which I thought was lame...Vancouver buildings are very short by comparison, due to laws surrounding blocking our nice mountain view, LOL.

I am this show's bitch and it's all Joel Gretsch and Elizabeth Mitchell's fault. The 4400 and Lost started my love affair with SciFi shows.

I think when you take V for what it's worth -which is a SciFi show about evil alien lizards- it's actually pretty good. I could get technical and question everything that seems impractical about the writing, but I have patience. I'm sure the writers will come up with clever explanations to the more obvious questions we have about the aliens over a reasonable amount of time. It's only been two episodes. I don't expect to know everything, nor do I want to. With the hiatus happening so soon, I'm sure the next two episodes will be (in the words of EM) "pumped up on steroids" in order to keep interest alive straight into March.
