"Serves him right for the way he's been treating Sydney"
You know what you are so right. I forgot all about it. I just thought it was odd that when the showdown happens, EJ is not there.
Come on now guys. Think about how you would react to finding out that the daughter you've raised since birth is not yours and the biological father is threatening to take her away. In EJ's mind, he knows despite his DiMera power, biology always wins in custody battles. He's going to have to lose her at some point. And since he's not the emotional type, I could totally see his reasons and understand them for wanting to prevent the inevitable. He's not going to continue attaching himself to Sydney when he believes Chad is going to take her away. The hurt will be even greater then. But since Sydney is his biological child, he deserves to be told so that he can right his own wrongs as far as the baby is concerned. EJ will be tortured within himself for the way he's treated Sydney. No one else needs to torture him any longer. I agree.
Letting her go, as painful as that is and as mean as that may seem at this time, is a lot more loving IMO than continuing to hang on to her at any cost, no matter who has to get killed to allow you to hang on to the child (Dr. Baker, Rafe) or whose life has to be ruined (Mia) and using her as some manipulation ploy and bargaining chip at all times (her using Sydney to con Sami out of money, her using Sydney to weasel her way back into EJ's life).
eta: IMO, it shows a lot of growth on EJ's part that he has found a way to love something without being possessive or selfish. Only time will tell if this is a one-time deal or could also play a part in his reaction to finding out Sydney is biologically his child with Sami.

CDN TV Guide Spoilers
Monday Chloe refuses to give Sydney to Rafe; Bo is alarmed when he doesn't find Carly at home.
Tuesday Sami is reunited with her daughter; Carly, Bo and Justin are surprised to hear that another has confessed to Carly's crime.
Wednesday Nicole is arrested as Rafe and Sami leave the scene with Sydney; Bo catches Hope and Justin in an embrace.
Thursday Mia battles it out with Nicole for giving her baby away; Caroline crushes Victor's hope for the future. I can't blame Chloe for not giving the baby to Rafe, of course that makes her aiding and abetting, since he is acting on the biological mother's behalf. Tuesday will be a very tearful experience get your tissues prepared. And hell yeah Caroline....

Tuesday will be a very tearful experience get your tissues prepared. And hell yeah Caroline.... Me either, because she shouldn't be handing the baby to Rafe since the guy has no authority in the situation. If she wanted to do the right thing she would call Abe, Roman or Bo and pass the baby over to them; handing her to Rafe would be taking her from one baby thief and giving her to another.

He's not going to continue attaching himself to Sydney when he believes Chad is going to take her away. The hurt will be even greater then.
Since you asked, had I been in EJ's shoes I would have retained a family law specialist to find out exactly what rights I might have and how I should proceed in the event Chad is not in fact the biological father of this child. I would want to dig up some dirt on Chad and Mia and find out if I could make an argument about Chad's potential fitness as a parent. I would see if Chad had any interest in giving up his rights--if he even had any. I would look into the possibility of reaching a custody arrangement with Nicole if it turned out Chad wasn't the father, or alternatively, trying to adopt Sydney legally on my own. And I would definitely have ensured the child I had raised for months and loved on my own had a place to lay her head and food to put in her mouth while we awaited the outcome of the legal battle, even if it meant I was funding Nicole as well for the time being. Can I get a "hell yea!"
If EJ was really being as selfless as mentioned, he would have kept Sydney and cared for her knowing she might be taken away. THAT is caring for someone else and being selfless. But because he is scared that HE will be hurt or Sydney will be taken away from HIM, he threw her out, called her "that thing", never concerned himself with where she was staying or how she was being provided for. Sydney is an innocent in this.
As much as I would like to, I can't justify EJ at all in this. In fact, I can justify Nicole's actions more than EJs.

As for justifying EJ vs. Nicole's actions...the bottom line is it begins and ends with Nicole. EJ would never have pulled away from Sydney if Nicole would have told him the truth. She has allowed Sydney to be in a position to have no place to lie her head or to risk having no food in her cupboard solely out of her selfish need to hang on to someone else's baby. I don't care for the way they've written EJ to handle things - but in no way, shape or form are his actions worse than Nicole's. She is the puppet master pulling everyone's strings.

You say tomato, I say tomahto. EJ is all about being the puppet master and pulling strings...that IS EJ. I like puppet masters. They are interesting. However, I don't care who started it. I don't care who ends it. When thrown in a situation with an innocent child who is at the mercy of a crazy woman, EJ abandoned Sydney without a bat of an eye (and for him, that's saying alot. LOL!)
For me, EJ has dropped the ball on being a decent guy, being a good father, all that shit I used to buy from him. His disgust at an innocent child really threw me. And I have no problem with him spewing his hypocritical hate toward Nicole and vowing vengence (I kind of like vengful EJ) but his stink eye and refusal to look at his daughter makes him more of a monster in this scenario than Nicole.
Oh, and I said justify...not agree. There's a difference! :p

I'm just excited to see Caroline again. I wonder why they haven't used her the past few months? I imagine she has an extremely low episode guarantee. Cost Cutting! Plus, Caroline has to reject Victor so that he can reunite with Vivian.

There's a difference! :p The reason he did all this concerning Sydney is very simple, EJ loves himself more than he loves anyone else--his family, his children, Sami, & Nicole. He always puts himself first... and I hope he gags on the guilt of throwing his own daughter away. And I hope the things I heard from the previews of next Monday's are not the way they sounded, cause it sounded as if he was using his son as a weapon against Rafe.

Can't wait to see how Mia' reacts.
Personally, I hope she reacts by throwing herself in front of an oncoming bus. :) too bad Chelsea isn't around to run her over. If Mia weren't such a young thing one might think her face was frozen with botox injections. Of course, that is not the case, but her face barely moves. Also, Carly's only expression is one which reminds me of someone that is suppressing a fart in an elevator. And Vivian looks like King Tut in a fright wig. What's next, zombies?

Only time will tell if this is a one-time deal or could also play a part in his reaction to finding out Sydney is biologically his child with Sami. Very insightful. Since it is a crime to buy or sell a baby in the United States I should think E.J. would have hired legal council in this matter to preserve the facts that he had no participation in this fraud and to keep him out of jail. The fact that Miam still thinks that Nicole is a fit parent at this point after everything Nicole has done is amazing to me. E.J. should have called the authorities. Both Mia and Nicole should be in deep shit. Mia should get off more lightly because she was a vulnerable, manipulated teenager. But the fact that anybody, including Sammi thinks that posession is nine tenths of the law with Sydney, is driving me crazy. Sammi was so concerned about Johnny being influenced by Stephano, but Sydeny, no....she belongs there. The logic of any of it escapes me. The only one who is behaving like an adult right now is E.J. Although he could do more to ensure the safety of Sydney, just as a human being by calling DCF. Because Mia and Nicole are both nuts.

And one more thing. What kind of teenaged boy need these kinds of problems. He is ruining his own life by hanging around with Mia. Go play football and drink beer like most normal kids. Join the drama club. You are cute. You do not need this shit. Mia is not even hot. Run!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Her I definitely love more, so while I get his motives I still think my boy is behaving like a tremendous fucktard in regards to her.
