U really can’t lecture on double standards when I have seen u make excuses for Rafe when he was less than the good guy!

We all make exceptions for the characters we like...ie Rafe man handled Nicole because he knew she was hiding something. He held a gun to a mans head because he knew Dr. Baker did something I could give more but just thinking of him makes me tired
No lecture intended. Just pointing it out that it was made a big deal out of when Rafe did it, but not EJ. That's all.
And Rafe pulled a gun on the attorney, but he did not hold the gun to the guy's head. Not that it made it right. Never saw the purpose of that scene.
Of course everyone defends their favorite character. It's only normal and natural. Goes both ways, tho.
U say no lecture intended but I am not buying it u seem to like to lecture ALOT or it comes across that way but to his/her their own.

We do agree in the fact that it goes both ways ;)

I think the difference in the argument is that EJ is the 'evil' guy and Rafe is the 'hero'. Of course I'm going to let slip the wrong doings of the bad guy, but when the white hat bends the rules and gets away with it, I don't buy that product, it undermines the 'good guy' argument.

For example:
Bo Brady tampered with evidence to protect his criminal father and brother. He was in trouble for about a second and a half and then became police commissioner.
Roman Brady excused both Kate and Marlena for attempted murder after they both shot at EJ (and Sami) during their wedding ceremony.
Nobody questioned Abe's involvement in the mayor's murder given that his wife is a DiMera, the mayor was killed on DiMansion steps and Lexi asked her daddy to do something to help out good old Abe.
I think poor Nick is the only 'criminal' out there that has actually served a sentance and that is because he admitted to killing Trent and yet he is also the only character that should have gotten off his rap.

It's bad writing and there are a zillion other examples from the cartoon writing on this show. I can excuse the actions of the bad guy because his evil actions are in character. It undermines the 'goodness' of a hero to go against morality unless they are exploring the humanity or complexity of a character, but Days doesn't do that. I just watch for the bubble gummy goodness of it all.

Funny how he had none of that concern when he attempted to murder Lucas. Or run down her sister. Or threatened her son. Hmm .. I guess I am supposed to believe he has changed. Alrighty then. Whatev.
I also find it interesting that Rafe was such a bad guy when he was following Nicole and eavesdropping on conversations to find out info on the babyswitch. Now that EJ is following Arianna and listening in on her phone conversation with Rafe and calling people to find out where Rafe is so he can find out about the hitman, it seems to be OK. Sorry, don't get the double standard. Seems to me that what is horrible for one to do, should be horrible for another.
Just speaking for myself here;

Easy, I don't like Rafe, and I love me some EJ!! :P

Seriously though, I think we all do that where are favorites are concerned, and why shouldn't we?? It is still all make believe after all!! ;)

At Sami and EJ's wedding. There were actually three shooters there - Lucas managed to hit EJ in the back. Both Kate and Marlena missed.

I believe Roman and Steve also came to shoot EJ, but decided not to actually go through with it. That was back when everyone in Salem remembered who and what EJ was, and treated him as such.
