Exclusive: 'Housewives' pulls a FlashForward

Desperate Housewives is going back to the future, but this time it’s just temporary.

And imaginary.

An early January episode — the first following the Dec. 6 plane crash cliffhanger — will find the housewives pondering numerous “What If” scenarios.

Example: What if the plummeting jetliner had killed Susan instead of [sorry, too spoilery].

Two Wisterians featured prominently in the alternate reality sequences will be Gaby and Carlos’ youngest daughter, Celia, and Mike and Susan’s son, MJ. I know this because DH is currently casting thirtysomething versions of both characters.

Memo to Marc Cherry. Drop the plane on Julie. Trust me, everyone’s futures would be much brighter (mine included!)

Not sure what to think about this. I am guessing Ms. McCluskey dies.

*Yawn*

I'm sure Cherry thinks his little gimmicks are really clever and exciting. They're not.

It seems like a filler type of episode.

Aren't they mostly all filler episodes until the season finale?

It does seem like filler, but whatever. It's not the first show to do a WHAT IF episode, and it won't be the last.

Loving DH this season!

I'm a few episodes behind, but the season is growing on me, it's at least better than the last.

I just wish Orson was on more.

I like DH, but too much of the show is filler. It's bothering me more now than ever before. Marc Cherry has a hard time spreading a plot out over a season without spreading it too thin... I think if he stopped writing within the confines of a September start to a May finale, and perhaps resolved some stories mid-season, the show would be stronger.

I do enjoy some of the filler stuff (like the Bree/Katherine scene of chasing the cake, lol) but after a while, it becomes glaringly obvious.
