Look at the second story of luke and laura also have chemistry was undeniably

In 1978, General Hospital was close to cancellation(like days),
brought troubled teenager Laura Vining (Genie Francis) to the forefront of the series(like sami)
popular romance with Scotty Baldwin(lucas and sami)
Anthony Geary joined the cast in 1978 in what was meant to be a 13 week stint as Luke Spencer.[15] He was brought to town by his sister Bobbie Spencer to break up Laura's marriage to Scott Baldwin.(like ej brought by stepeno to save is life and get sami p`)
Since viewers expressed interest in Luke and Laura, the writers decided to have Luke die in Laura's arms, after which she would reunite with Scotty.(like ej and sami)
Due to the positive viewer response, the story moved towards a romance between Luke and Laura.(ejami)
After the story aired in October 1979, it was looked back on as a rape and Laura was shown getting rape counseling. The writers decided to have the characters look back on the incident as a seduction instead of a rape because the pairing resonated with the audience. "From that point on, we played [Luke's] regret and his total devastation," Geary said. "That's a story nobody wants to tell-that the rapist's life is as devastated as the person he rapes. His great love and regret and guilt are what caught the audience so off guard(like ej feels)
Scott and Laura marry.(lumi)
A conflicted Laura, admits to being raped, but does not name Luke as her attacker.(like sami do)
laura begins to get jealous when she observes Luke flirting with Jennifer.(like sami was with nicole)
Realizing that Laura returns his feelings, Luke traps her on a sailboat and forces her to admit her love for him(ej and sami)
Laura has Luke's son Lucas Lorenzo Spencer(ghoni)
Laura reveals that she is pregnant again, and gives birth to a daughter named Lesley(sidny)
She brought Geary back to General Hospital that same year(tomlin brought galen)
The unpopularity of that character led to ABC firing Monty(I hope it will be like this with Rafe)

There had never been a more influential soap opera moment than Luke and Laura's wedding. There never will be again. You could walk down the hallway and talk to anyone on our daytime staff, and they could tell you where they were when Luke and Laura got married.(Until ejami the next super couple they remain in memory forever)

No offense, but I don't care who they have similarities to. I've seen them compared to just about every couple in soaps (most of it's wishful thinking IMO). If they can't have something original written for them, what's the point? If I want to watch Luke and Laura's story, I'll get on youtube and watch Luke and Laura's story - not watch an overacted impression.

I have always thought GH and Days are the most similar of all soaps on TV. They have a very familiar feel. Both were known in the 80's for their supercouples, both rose back to prominence in the 1990's after a dip in the ratings (although they did so very differently). Both have a very loyal audience that may leave, but always come back if their respective shows have promise.

However, Luke and Laura are the staple daytime couple that revolutionized the way soaps are made, and the way stories are told. They are the top couple in the history of soaps. I am NOT a Luke and Laura fan, but I still admit that no one else can really touch them in terms of influence and popularity.

Ejami is a couple that causes great conflict, and some interest. They are the most debated couple on this show right now, BUT...Ejami is also a couple during an era that is well past the genre's prime. The two can't be compared in terms of popularity. In terms of story..well it's somewhat similar. However, today's audience is not nearly as willing to sweep rape under the rug (Thank God!!!!!!!!). The fact that a large portion of the audience watching Days won't let the rape go, displays just how far we have come since the late 70's, early 80's.

DISCLAIMER: I am not a Lumi, Ejami, or a Safe, so I have no dog in this fight. I don't think any of these couples measure up to Luke and Laura, or many of the former Days couples for that matter. These three pairings are no Doug and Julie, Roman and Marlena, Shane and Kim, Bo and Hope, Steve and Kayla, Jack and Jennifer, or John and Marlena. That's MY Opinion, and you are free to yours.

luke raped laura. ej did not do it this way that his credit, Sammy also told him a year ago I tried to quote "It was not like thet you and me buildings were there and we know what happened" So in fact the act of luke says does not count and ej yes? Why is it fair?

I'm not entirely sure what you're saying, but "it wasn't like that" was in response to his worry when she said he had hurt her. He didn't physically hurt her.

I've seen this comparison drawn before. It's been beaten into the ground, and frankly, it wasn't all that convincing the first time around.

I see no comparison myself ..The main one being that Sami has never been in love with EJ, or told him that she was..
The first time cant ever be confused or morphed into some kind of seduction, or passion gone wild.
It was ugly.. plain and simple.

The second time was a one night stand that Sami regreted 5 minutes after.. and she told him very clearly it was "just sex".. right before she jumped up and ran after Lucas.

Don't watch GH, but I don't think there's a comparison simply because they're two very different times.

Bingo! Not very creative when they start stealing from each other.
