Oh that's too bad. I didn't think he was awful but I didn't think he was natural either. IMO, the problem in general, and this goes for all the teens, they are on too much. And they have monotone line delivery but THATS how teenagers talk, sometimes being around teen in real life is excrutiating so maybe they are better actors that given credit for. I don't think the girl playing Gabby is any better than the rest of the teens. Casey's good but he has his problems too. Tad is the only one who is more natural/lively and I like Kinsey maybe because you are suppose to hate her. Dylan and Taylor were able to get to me during Grace's death and I enjoyed the handful of times that Mia had a good influence on Will. The thing with Taylor or Mia is that she has that brooding teen ala Twighlight thing going on and sometimes I feel like I am in a flashback of Jennifer Love Hewitt/Party of 5 with her melancholy demeanor, complete with the sweater cuffs pulled down to her palms. |

Before I comment on the new actor I just want to say that I feel Dylan Patton got the shaft. The writing for Will has sucked since June and he's become Lucas JR in every sense of the word so, considering the show is citing an upcoming big story for Will as the reason for doing this, I feel like we should've at least saw Dylan work with that material for a little while before cutting him. Why? Because his first 4 months on the show were pretty good. He was also getting an appropriate amount of airtime. Not so much that it was too much but enough for him to develop as an actor and character and for his story to develop. His airtime dropped off in summer and never recovered so how is he supposed to grow? Same goes for all the young actors. Taylor and Dylan both lost it when they stopped interacting with the older actors in July and became isolated in the teen story. It wasn't until they began interacting with the older actors again once the baby switch began ti implode that they began to SLOWLY improve but they are still not at the level they were at consistently when they first came on. That is a shame. I know there was word that Taylor was sick and they had to shift some things with the teens but the show made a big mistake not interacting them with the older characters in the summer too like they had before and after summer. It's weird how during the summer when teens usually get an insane amount of airtime, these teens were barely on. Corday had said the young cast would be featured more. Something odd happened in the summer and I don't think Taylor being ill was the only factor. Dylan did handle emotional scenes well, especially the scenes around Grace's death. I also found him to be very good opposite all the older actors, just like Taylor. Taylor and Dylan just seemed to lose whatever magic they had in the spring over the summer and never got it back. Now there scenes have nothing. They both look bored. They still look good together but they don't work well together at all. In the spring, they had a good chemistry and had potential to be a classic Days teen romance. I blame the show for the downfall of all this. I feel bad or Dylan because I feel like because of all I mentioned and the current writing of the character he was doomed to fail. I wish him well and hope he's handling this well. He had a decent career prior to this so I'm sure he will be ok. He looks younger then he is and his look is perfect for some work maybe on the Disney Channel or maybe he can go back to episodic work. This is probably for the best in a way. As for the new actor, he certainly does resemble Drew Garrett (GH's Micheal). Watching the footage of that short movie, he looks decent but Patton was also decent in all of his previous work prior to Days. Let's see how he does when he gets onscreen. I hope the writing improves for Will and that this upcoming story is actually a story. I tend to think it is but if they don't stop writing him as Lucas II, he won't do much better then Patton. I also think this has to mean that maybe they no longer see Will and Mia as the money couple anymore. Maybe they are casting to make him more edgier and to pair him with Gabi long-term. If so, I can't say I blame them because the writing for the Will/Mia/Chad story was awful for the whole summer and, to me, if not for the connection Mia and Chad do share it would be hard for me to care about any of them. I still feel like Chad and Mia are mismatched but the actors do click so it sells it. I also feel like the new Will works as a rival to Chad whereas Patton could never match up. In a way, the writing was on the wall the minute they brought Chad on because he looked older then both Mia and Will and Will came off worse then Lucas does in confrontational situations. Plus, Patton could never be a romantic lead. As I said, he has the Disney Channel 'I'm older then I look despite looking 13" look. He reminds me of a male Kirsten Storms and Jason Cook, who both look to me like they are no older then 18. Now, at least this new actor will look better against Casey Deidrick and I do think he could have nice chemistry with Taylor, although I tend to think they are casting him with Gabi in mind moreso then Mia. Regardless, this has more pros then cons to it but the writing for the teen story has to improve for this to work. The actors have the talent IMO. They always did but it won't work if the writing sucks and if the show doesn't interact the teens consistently with the older characters. That is the only way to help the actors and the characters grow. Now, I wonder what is coming up the pike for Will. I'm guessing we are getting a Gabi/Will/Mia/Chad story but I have to think this will blend in with one of the other stories featuring the older characters, much like it did the baby switch. I really hope they give Will an edge. I don't necessarily want him to follow in Sami and Lucas' footsteps because that kind of junk gets repetitive in soaps. He just can't be a doormat. I also wonder how long this has been in the works. This decision seems like something that was not split second. Edited by PhoenixRising05, Dec 7 2009, 07:37 PM.

How old is this kid? Maybe he's over 18, so it makes it easier to film longer. Maybe Will has a story with Chad and not so much Mia or gabby. |

I would doubt he would get a story with just Chad. Days, let alone any soap, barely does any story nowadays that doesn't feature a romantic tilt. Unless they are going with a gay story between Will and Chad, which would make no sense at this point, I don't see a Will/Chad story coming LOL. I can't find an age for the actor but I'm going to guess he's 16 or 17. I don't think they will want both of Taylor's romantic leads to be over 18 since she is 16 and I know Casey Deidrick is over 18. |

Maybe he has more of a story with the adults which Chad may or may not be a part of and only a minor story with Mia/Gabby. I highly doubt they would do a gay story. but you are right Day's rarely does a story that is outside of "romance". I wish we knew his age. |

I, personally, will be pissed if Will does get more story with the adults because that is when I felt Dylan did well, same with Taylor. That would make this move even worse for me. I tend to think they changed their vision of the character. We know that they never planned to keep Taylor but she took off during her brief run so they kept her and paired her with Will. It had been rumored that Mark Hapka was up for Will but when they decided to keep Taylor, they went with the younger actor in Patton for Will since Taylor was only 16. Hapka then was casted as Nathan later on. I have a feeling after Casey was brought on as Chad, they slowly realized over time that Dylan just doesn't look right in a story opposite him and that he just can't the typical soap romantic lead they clearly wanted him to be so they made the change right when things are supposed to heat up for Will romantically and story-wise. |

Casey tried out for the role of Tad. I don't think CD looks out of place with the current teens, he looks young to me too. I have been critical of DP but I thought Will and Mia had a sweetness to them. I'm not looking forward to a big romantic teen story. I am curious to see what changes if any they are going to make to the character of will. |

I dont think MH was ever in consideration for the role of Will. As for the recast..GOOD! If these teens are going to be the "next gen" of Brady v any other family, then they need "punch!" Patton and TS are comatoso in many scenes. I think they work well opposite strong actors. TS, for example, was good when working with AZ. I do hope they recast Mia. The boys look way to younger for her and maybe if they move her up in age..then the whole scene can "move up" into Molly/Steph age bracket (and move PHIL OUT!) |

It was posted on here awhile back that he was. I think he would have the right look but he's too old given the ages of AS and BD. |

I feel bad for Dylan, but I can see why TPTB would do it, especially if there is a big storyline coming up for Will. I thought he and Taylor were good during the Grace stuff, but neither of them have been good since IMO. |

This frosts my backside. Instead of giving the actor the chance to expand his acting with some up and coming story they replace him/her. How is one to gain any acting experience? TPTB replaced Felicia Terrell and so far I haven't seen one part of the story that she couldn't have handled as Arianna. I just don't get it. Weather or not I like the actor and I do it flat out seems wrong to me. Give them a fighting chance and if they don't make it then take action. JMO. |

I remember him. He was the best Will (so far) and actually a pretty good kid actor and even looked the part of Sami's and Lucas's kid. I recall seeing the scenes with him as Will right after Will came back from Africa. I kinda of feel bad for Dylan though. Hopefully though this new guy will be better. But I was looking at new pictures of him with AS and my first thought was one, he looks a lot like AS and two, he looks gay. I'm not trying to be be mean, but that thought just came and it came quickly. There's a more modern picture of him. http://cdn.media.soapnet.com/sites/default/files/images/daysofourlives/20091207_ChandlerMassey_Days_300x400.jpg And yes, I do think he looks a bit too old. He looks about 19 or 20 and AS is only 33 and BD is 38. Edited by soccerandtvgirl, Dec 7 2009, 10:32 PM.

^Wow...in that pic he looks alot like Ali Sweeney and he certainly seems less shy then Dylan. That could translate well onscreen. |

I saw this and wondered if MB was finally getting her wish - and that Melanie was being moved into a more age-appropriate story with CD, so maybe they had to recast Will? I don't really care for the portrayals of Will or Mia, and so I'm not too sad about this happening. I don't mind the recast, and I wouldn't mind if they recast Mia too. But if they're aging all the kids, it does make me worry some - I think that my head will explode if Philip starts dating Mia or Gabi. |

Much more believable as mother/son. Thanks for posting! I do wonder what this will mean for Mia's character and the Will/Mia pairing. Typically I think it's not such a great thing for a couple when one of the actors is suddenly let go. |
