Random thoughts on Nunu Will and teens! lol

Cute guy,has almost the same face and eye shape as Aly.

That short film was pretty bad in general.

To me and wtf do I know but... Casey just doesnt fit in that crowd. He is not a bad actor,it's just he is so much older (almost 23) and he is so tall. Mia is tiny and this new girl Gabby is even shorter than her! I can't imagine how they are going to have scenes together. Camera angles and lighting must be a nightmare for those two! He would be better off in the older crowd but it is probably too late for that.

Oh, and Mia (Taylor) was only out for one day and they just did her scenes the next day so that could not have caused much disruption.

They must have axed Dylan in the last week or so. The show was dark I believe so I wonder if they did it prior to the hiatus and it only got out now because they all went back to set. I have a feeling Massey may have started taping today or already for him to air in late January. Last I heard, the show had taped until around mid-January prior to hiatus.

Quoting limited to 4 levels deep
I disagree. If they were high they would have had some more energy to them. But they were/are both just DOA! LOL
more energy?! have you ever known anyone high?!
Well that's a stupid question. I find people are WTF? plus giddy when high. On weed at least.
People may be WTF? plus giddy when high when they are just sitting around getting high. But I can't imagine attempting to act on an actual TV show while stoned. Incriminating story... back in high school I got high at lunch once on a day I had to do a dress rehearsal for Oklahoma where I was just an extra with one or two lines and being on stage made me paranoid as fuck. I was not WTF? giddy in delivering my line but was probably more Taylor Spreitler lifeless.

I have been really busy lately so I haven’t had much time to post on DR for the last little while but I just had to weigh in on this good news by saying I am delighted.

Thank the lord!

Hopefully the third time will be the charm because both Gerse and Patton were terrible.
Let's not forget the mute that played Will as a little boy. I remember one episode where I was LMAO @ Sami on the phone, having this elaborate conversation with Will. I was like, my ass, that kid hasn't made a sound in 2 friggin years.

This kid looks more like Ali Sweeney than any of the previous Wills have. Lucky for him, the bar hasn't been set at all very high.

This is a post that was posted in Feb on some photographer's website that says Chandler was a senior in HS earlier this year. This photographer says he's been taking pictures of him since he was 5 in 1996 when his Dad was Secretary of State of Georgia. So I'd guess he's 18 going on 19.

I can't imagine DP's acting had that much to do with it when Taylor and the girl playing Gabby aren't that much better. I would say it had more to do with him being of age, making it easier to film but that doesn't make sense since they just hired Gabby. My guess is that Taylor and the Gabby girl are on their way out. Thanks for posting, Rhi.

I think the girl playing Gabby is really good and Taylor is usually fine too, itīs really not her fault her character is written to be sad, melancholic and on the verge of crying all the time. Taylor is not that way in real life and I think she cannot wait till this baby period of Miaīs life is over and she can be more herself. What is weird Dylan was usually fine around Sami or Lucas, but visibly nervous playing against Taylor or other teens. Maybe he is still shy of girls in real time or something, but it made all his scenes around Mia really awkward, especially when she should be his first big love. I had also feeling he has trouble to remember his lines sometimes which is an ultimate no-no in the current production model.

I assume the reason why he was let go is they want to move forward in his relationship (no matter if with Mia or Gabby) and he didnīt work as this teen generation romantic lead they hoped heīs gonna be. We have Chad the sexy bad boy, we have Mia the sweet princess, we have Gabby the fast-mouthed girl, but we miss the new Shawn D. Itīs been no problem till now because all the teens are just supporting players in the babystory anyway, but if they want to start tell teen stories similar to those with Shelle, Phelle and co. they need certain dynamics to work.

You summed up my thoughts perfectly.

And your right. Dylan did seem uncomfortable around the teens and I don't think it was an acting choice. It came off like he had difficulty. I remember he seemed fine until the Will and Mia relationship became romantic around July and that was around the time he and Taylor both fell off the rails, acting-wise. I think Taylor seemed bored in her scenes with him after awhile and maybe Dylan wasn't giving her anything in the scenes so she didn't do as much as a result. Those two were so much better in spring and it's such a shame what happened. Taylor, at least, had the baby story to fall back on and that too her out of the rut eventually because she had scenes with all kinds of characters. Poor Dylan's screentime got reduced more and more and he started being Lucas Jr. He was never around for what he should be around for and they were writing him as a wimp.

I don't think any of the other teens are going anywhere. Taylor is quite popular and has talent. Casey is popular and talented. Gabby just got started and seems ok so far. Dylan had the talent but the vision for the character changed and he just wasn't clicking. As long as better writing accompanies this change, this can be a good move.

I think it's interesting that Days has had two recasts like this in a row, where the actor/actress was replaced mid-story. I wonder if Tomlin and the casting dept aren't getting along or something? Just throwing that out there, but seems strange to me that the same type of thing happened in both cases.

I think it's just story-dictated in both cases and that it's just that their vision for the character changed or something just wasn't working with the original actor. Both times we had characters in stories that were about to heat up so it seems they felt neither could handle it. I felt they were right about FT because Lindsey is so much more alive and brings so much more to the part but that IMO was a no brainer. Her work on Passions where she made the most out of trash most of the time proved her talent IMO. We don't know how this will work out but I think it's more obvious in this case that something had to happen. Dylan and Taylor didn't seem to be clicking. He wasn't appearing as much and wasn't even getting much scenes with his family anymore until recently. He didn't seem to be as close with the other cast members like Molly, Casey, etc. Taylor had said back in spring her and Dylan were friends but you never saw him out or tweeting or anything like that. I don't even know if he was at Taylor's 16th birthday party. I just watched his and Taylor Day of Days interview and Dylan looked out of sorts.

I think the show felt it just wouldn't work. They casted him to fit with Mia but whatever cute chemistry they had got lost overtime. He looked uncomfortable and they needed someone to be able to do things with the role even if the writing isn't always there. If it were a war between the casting department and Tomlin, we would actors getting cut well before they are. Dylan lasted almost a year. FT lasted 4 months. I would think if they were disagreeing Tomlin would cut the actor far quicker then he is.

Tim, I guess my point is that whether or not the actors were working out, there have been actors in the past who have been horrendous, but Days didn't necessarily bother to recast them like this. I don't think I agree on the timing issue... I mean, you have to give the actor a chance to get settled in the first place. Seems to me that for whatever reason, Days is being quicker to recast now. I was just questioning if perhaps Tomlin didn't like the casting in the first place.

Good point. I also find it interesting that both recasts happened shortly after big Days promotional events. The role of Arianna was recast shortly after Days had the big blitz about their summer promo and the new cast photo. Now Will is recast a month after the Day of Days event.

I think Tomlin is a part of the casting process. Ususally casting director makes the selection but the final word in on EP and I doubt Corday is greenlighting new actors behind his back. But I think not even best casting director in the world can say if the actor is able to deal with the workload and pace, especially a newbie. I think they do screentests, they do photoshoots (and Taylor and Dylan looked perfect together) and they hope for the best. Letīs not forget who was first hired as the replacement for Kristen Storms, a high profile contract role in the middle of summer frontburner storyline.

Oh, I get what your saying. I just don't think it's any sort of conflict with casting and Tomlin. I just think the actors didn't work out.

And, in the past, the show didn't have the production model it currently has. There is no rehearsal. You have to know your lines. They are flying through taping episodes. Heather Lauren Olsen was fired as Jan for holding up production, not for being horrible acting-wise. Same goes for Charity Rahmer as Belle but a part of me still feels they hired someone that terrible to be able to accept Martha LOL, who looked older then Kirsten Storms. Also, Marnie Saitta is one of the best casting directors out there and Tomlin is all about the vision he has so it's about what works. Someone may be good to start but if they lose it or there is a change in mindset when it comes to a character, then a change may need to be made and I think that is what happened here.

Interesting point. I don't know if I can see the cast photo impacting anything although maybe while taking the photos they realized how FT and EM weren't clicking so I suppose it could've been impactful. In the case of Day of Days, maybe Dylan didn't get a large fan response and that made an impact but I tend to think this decision was in the works prior to then because the show has been on hiatus until yesterday and, to me, the decision must've been made prior to that.

Jane is right though. I do believe that Tomlin is a part of the process much like Ed Scott always was.
