I'm curious as to how they are going to address the situation with Alice and Frances Reid.
If FR cant make it (and it seems like she cant) .. atleast for the funeral/Memorial .. perhaps they could have a elderly look alike lady who simply touches the coffin and is helped away .. and the audience on ly see's her from the side or back.. Alice being to frail and distraught to speak or even stay thru the service.
Its the only thing I can imagine them doing.

I'm beyond thrilled with this news. Frankly, this should have been done YEARS ago.

HOWEVER....

Two things.

1) This has to be done well. No half-assing around here. Mickey was on original, core-family member. I want to see old characters returning and flashbacks. Anything less will be unacceptable.

2) I do NOT want Sami or her brood at all involved in this, in any way, shape or form. Period.
Well... Afgter the HORRIBLE send offs they gave Tony, and Marlena and John .. Ive little faith in thier desire to do justice to a chracters rich history.

Heck he may not even get a funeral Instead we might just have scenes of people hanging out in the park or the cemetary.

Well dont forget id Jenn did return .. And.. she brought Abby .. Ive heard Wes Ramsey is also returning .. He would be about the right age, Ofcourse they sadly would need to recast Abby because the original is on Primetime.. doing Eastwick , although jher role is rather minor , she could perhaps do both.. ~shrugs~ ...I did love her as Abby.

And if Jen returns will we also get Jack ?? .. That could be fun.

I was thinking the same thing earlier. But eventually, they're gonna have to address Alice being MIA as well.

I don't want a body double for Alice. I'd rather they just say that Alice was feeling too unwell or too devastated to make it to the funeral.

I've heard rumors about Christie Clark and Austin Peck returning as Carrie and Austin which would confirm the accident is Will. Austin has always been like a father to Will and it would make sense that he and Carrie would return to be with Will and Lucas at a time like that.
Bringing Carrie back would also make sense given the surprise return of Anna, but unfortunately I haven't heard anything about the show being in talks with her. I would love to have her back though.
I think those Carrie and Austin rumors started with the Austin Peck SOD interview where he hinted at being interested in a Days return and saying they keep in touch or something.

I don't see them returning although I would love to see Carrie and Anna onscreen together because, as Matt noted, it's been a REALLY long time LOL. I doubt it though. They seem forgotten since Will got back and this show is Sami's and we all know they won't want to paint Sami in a bad light by having St. Carrie and sanctimonious Austin around. Then again, they could always bring them back and have them look bad for Sami's benefit. That wouldn't hard since by the end of Carrie and Austin's run on the show more people were rooting for Sami anyway LOL. Perhaps a return by them could make some people like Sami again just for nostalgia's sake. .

I think we will just keep hearing she has a cold or something or get no mention at all. I suspect they will say she was too upset at the funeral.

Ugggh. You don't know how much I hate that. Sami is a bitch. This is a fact! I hate how the show is trying to paint her a some kind of pseudo-heroine who can do no wrong. Ugh, ugh, ugh.

Eastwick was cancelled, but either way, I don't want Ashley Benson back. She was cute, but terrible. She wasn't much better on Eastwick, either.

They're going to have to kill off Alice, eventually. In fact, they probably should have taken care of that before offing Mickey...because now they have two big Horton funerals to worry about.

It really is a cluster, but I would hate for them to have Alice die before Frances actually passes away IRL....

Same here.

They should've killed Mickey years ago. Frances could've at least made an appearance then. They waited far too long.

You know, we haven't seen Carrie on-screen with her mother in nearly 25 years.
True. But IF (and its a huge IF) Sami is the one who orchestrated the kidnapping, it would make sense that the kidnapper is in the process of taking Sydney to Switzerland to be raised by Carrie and Austin, with Marlena and John nearby. The kidnapper hasn't left Salem yet, perhaps because we will get some type pf "Christmas Miracle" after all.....ie Sami showing up at the door to spend a quiet holiday with her daughter before sending the kidnapper off to Europe with Sydney.

Then BOOM, all these other events happen, bringing Carrie and Austin to Salem.

On Monday's show, the kidnapper told Sydney that she "was going to be a big part of your life now" (or something to that effect). Now, a nearly sixty-year-old isn't going to raise Sydney. Her daughter is going to raise Sydney secrety away from the DiMeras and the kidnapper will be "grandma".

PREDICTION: Mickey's funeral will be off-screen. Everyone will simply be shown in the "pre-ceremony" and the "post-ceremony", either in Maggie's Kitchen, the Cemetary, the Pub, the Bope Living Room, or the dusted-off Horton Living Room (which they are allegedly using for XMAS after all).

We don't need to drag out St Lukes. After all, the Hortons are not Catholic. We don't need a John-Black-Funeral with pews filled with Salemites.

They can allude to missing relatives who are there, but "unseen". Using Alice's Living Room, they can reminisce and flashback to scenes, while Alice is upstairs "resting" and others who are elsewhere in the house or in Salem.

Bill/Laura and Jack/Jennifer/Abby can be explained away, if need be. The only person who MUST be there is Melissa. I don't see how they could get around that, especially with Nathan in Salem. And it would be nice to finally have Melissa explain WTF Nathan is. Please Please Please, explain that he is Charles Peter Nathan Jannings Horton, the young child of Ivy and Pete Jannings, who was raised in the Kiriakis Guest House and who, presumably, came to live with Pete and Melissa years later when Ivy bit the dust, being adopted by Melissa when Pete flaked out. There's NO OTHER WAY he can be named "Horton", except that he wanted to honor Melissa, who must have ditched her own "Anderson" surname.

Plus, Lisa Trusel isn't old enough to be the mother of a doctor, whereas Charlie was born in the mid-80s, pre-ShawnDouglas.

Sarah was really a minor character and could be mentioned as being present, but off-screen. It does seem a good time to re-introduce the character and provide yet another female to chase Brady Black.

They won't kill Alice off untill FR dies and at that point they will likely have everyone they possibly can come in for the funeral. Mickey is important and was a pivotal character to the show years ago...but Alice is the mother hen....and when she dies expect to have everyone back......if they don't do that they really are screwed. They might bring back Jennifer for Mickey's funeral...I would like to see Bill and Laura too, but I somehow think they won't bring too many Horton's back...maybe Jennifer since Missy Rivers hubby just returned to the West coast and she might have some spare time on her hands....I wouldn't doubt that they actually bring Austin back to help Will and Lucas with the aftermath...don't know about Carrie though....

I'm afraid you're out of luck then. Sami and her brood will likely be involved in this story, which will water it down. ;)

As for the story itself... I don't like the idea at all, simply because Mickey's a legacy character dating all the way back to the show's premiere in 1965. HOWEVER... if it gives Suzanne some great material to play and maybe brings the Hortons back into prominence, hey... bring it on. Besides, if John Clarke won't come back to the show because he and Corday had a falling out and/or he's too ill, then sometimes you have to have the balls to pull this off. John Clarke IS Mickey to me.

I don't mind one of Sami's kids being involved and hurt in the accident. I just don't want it to be one of the little ones because frankly, I'm sick of the little kids being hurt, injured, having an illness or kidnapped. I can deal with Will being struck by a car driven by a drunk Maggie and either being in a coma for week and then later having to deal with him being in a wheelchair, I think that makes for some good scenes for a lot of people, including some who haven't had a decent storyline in years....mainly Lucas, but also I'm looking forward to the interaction between Maggie, Sami and Lucas if Will is injured--how will Kate play into this? Will she try to come around to comfort her son--will he want her around? Will we have some good Lucas and Sami scenes....we are long overdue. I am cautiously optimistic now and hoping for some good drama coming from what Mickey's death does to Maggie and how it'll affect Lucas in particular, but Sami and Will too.

If Will really does get paralyzed, they need to keep him in a wheelchair for awhile. No getting paralyzed for a couple of weeks or so, then having a miracle healing with everything being swept under the rug and forgotten. If the story is going to be done, let it have long lasting consequences.
