I don't know why everyone is nitpicking that Maggie will find Mickey dead off-camera upstairs. Hell, when Tom died, Alice went upstairs at the end of one scene, cut to commercial, and the beginnig of the next scene had he coming down annoucing that Tom had passed and she'd found him dead in his sleep. And missing relatives at funerals is to be expected. Remember Tom's funeral? Of course, Marie came back, but there was no Bill (I don't think). And when Alice introduced Mickey to speak at the service, she introduced him as Tom's oldest son, which he isn't. Tommy (who was never mentioned) is the oldest.
Bill was there. He was being played by Christopher Stone at this point.

I'm hoping the discovery is something like when Asa died on OLTL. Nigel went into his room, we never saw Asa, but we saw Nigel's reaction when Asa never responded to him. The next scene at the Buchanan mansion was Nigel coming downstairs to tell the family that Asa died in his sleep. I'd be perfectly fine with that.

Stone was always coming and going. I could never keep track. He was always fauxBill to me, anyway. I thought it was interesting that they got Ed Mallory to play Bill for Jack & Jennifer's wedding, though, instead of Stone who'd already started in the role in the late 1980s as part of the minor triangle with Mike and a SORASed Janice Barnes (Mickey & Maggie's one-time foster daughter they'd wanted to adopt).

I think we will get a quick scene of Maggie going upstairs and letting out a loud scream or we will get her coming into the room with the camera only on her as she reacts to it.Either way, it will be quick and I'm cool with that.

How much do you wanna bet that Maggie finds Mickey's body in the kitchen? LoL
She'll find him upstairs, but the the drama will happen in the kitchen, LOL.
I hope we get to see the actual discovery. I don't just want to have Maggie come running downstairs in hysterics to exclaim that Mickey is dead. Suzanne would rock the actual discovery.
Different strokes I guess...

The way I've envisioned the scene playing out in my mind is Maggie in the kitchen with Melanie and they're making breakfast or something and then she's going to go check on Mickey since he hasn't woken up yet and then we come back from the commercial break and rather than in hysterics we see Maggie just numb and in shock as she tells Melanie or whoever she is with that Mickey's dead. He must've died in his sleep.

That works and I can see that too, especially since they may not want to set up a bedroom set, which they would have to do if we saw her upstairs.

I hope we do see her upstairs. I want to see the range of emotions on her face as she goes from confusion to realization to horror to sadness. Suzanne would play it perfectly. We don't even have to see "Mickey." Just let us see Maggie's face as she opens the door and approaches the bed. Her face will say it all. I think that would be so much more powerful than just having her run down the stairs screaming into the kitchen, LoL.

I guess I'm open to it being either way. I tend to think we will get to see her reaction to the discovery though.

I think of two different variations on this scene:

1. On Another World in 1980, Ada went up to check on her then-husband Charlie, who had gone to take a nap... and never woke up. Fred Scollay didn't die, his character was just written off... but those scenes with Connie Ford and Ray Liotta were first-rate.

2. On General Hospital, Matt Ashford was playing Tom Hardy and he peeked into Steve Hardy's office... we never saw Steve, of course, since John Beradino had died long before, but the "oh my God" look on Tom's face was priceless. That's probably what we'll get on Days.

I think it may be hard for some viewers (such as myself) to see those scenes, but I know that Suzanne will be amazing.

I wonder if we'll get any PSAs with the later scenes with her character possibily falling off the wagon.

Probably not.

Lucas fell off the wagon twice this year and the second time he was drunk in front of his teenage son and his friends and we got no PSA's. Unless maybe they will take Maggie falling off the wagon alot more seriously, which one would expect if there really is an accident involving her.

If TPTB want to do this story justice they WILL have Maggie struggle with her alcoholism to some extent on screen. That is what was lacking with Lucas story...in recent years he would fall off the wagon and then recover in a day or two...and the last time he fell off the wagon and was off to rehab. I think there was a lot of critism of how they shipped him off to rehab without showing his struggles with alcoholism on screen and maybe they were reserving that to show for Maggie. If it's true that the "death" scenes appear during the new year.. then we might get her struggling for the most past of January..and she might finally fall off the wagon by end of January or so....

I'm sure we will see her struggles onscreen. They seem to care about this more then they did with Lucas. The first time with Lucas it was about setting up Chloe to have to stay with Lucas. The second time they had him fall off the wagon to write him off the canvas. With Maggie, it will be more about her and her struggle and the repercussions of it.

May I just say...

WAHOO!!!!!!!!!!

This has needed to happen for years! It has always been John Clarke or nothing for me. I have to say that, even though logistically it should have happened sooner, this is the best regime the show has had in years to handle this. The show is just better than its been in the past ten years. My only concern is how they handle Alice's role, if at all. I can imagine Doug and Julie will handle, saying something like she's too fragile, heartbroken, or something. I just hope its not too much of a throwaway and is given real heart.

As for family, Julie, Melissa, and Mike are necessary returns. Jennifer, Sarah, and others are lesser by degrees of their relationships with Mickey. The Melissa saga in the 80's was substantial in Mickey's history, wheras Sarah was more minor. I wouldn't mind a permanent recast, though. Others have pointed out Missy's more recent interview with the TvGuide dude and I think some were right to think that points to her return. I'm kind of mixed on Laura and Bill. With Mallory having passed away and Flannery the only legitimate "Mickey" Laura, I'm not sure how I would do it myself, if I were EP.

I cannot wait for this to play out on screen. Between this and Hunley's return, I'm freakin' thrilled!

Well dont forget id Jenn did return .. And.. she brought Abby .. Ive heard Wes Ramsey is also returning .. He would be about the right age, Ofcourse they sadly would need to recast Abby because the original is on Primetime.. doing Eastwick , although jher role is rather minor , she could perhaps do both.. ~shrugs~ ...I did love her as Abby.

And if Jen returns will we also get Jack ?? .. That could be fun.
Eastwick was cancelled, but either way, I don't want Ashley Benson back. She was cute, but terrible. She wasn't much better on Eastwick, either.
Really ??? Shit .. I came to like it after the 2nd show..

But shows I like always get Cancelled Argghhhh... Ala ... "Moonlight" & "My own worst enemy" .. Both really fun shows.

I really wish that John C could come back and film an hour or so.. He could walk in the door on Newyears Eve and surprise Maggie, Spend one last wonderful holiday with her, share a kiss and relive old memories as they ring in the New Year together.. and then claiming to be tired or have indigestion from the champagne go upstairs and pass.. The tragedy could come after.. It would be a very dramatic start to a new year and season of Days.

Here's the proof we needed about Mickey's death.

http://www.daysofourlives.com/multimedia/virtual_tours_detail_4173.html

Someone at the Sony website fucked up again. They offer virtual tours of the sets on DAYS, and this one was supposed to be the cabin where Sydney is being held by her kidnapper. While the cabin set is included, they also have what appears to be Mickey and Maggie's living room set as well. There are pictures of Mickey and Maggie on the table, as well as a huge portrait of John Clarke. It looks like it's probably a wake for Mickey after his death, as there seems to be cookies on the side. There's also a bottle of champagne, maybe? I wonder if Maggie's drinking that.

Thanks to the amateurs in charge of the Sony website!

You mean we'll actually see Mickey and Maggie's living room? Color me shocked (and pleased)!

It looks different than the last time I saw it - but I like it!

What a cool feature, even if it is a bit messed up with half the picture being the Maggie living room/wake and half the Sydnapper's cabin.
