one problem with this though. I don't think the ratings will hold up on this one. I do believe breaking Bope up will be a huge mistake and may very well cost the show a lot in the ratings! The whole Bope storyline is crap and has been from the beginning! I think the shows gambling too much on breaking up Bope! They will only drive alot of the fans away! It's christmas and yet we still have to watch this crap with Bope! I agree that Justin and Hope won't work. Justin's boring! They would make one boring couple! And one of the worst this show has had! I also find it odd there is no mention of Ciara in this article. What about her? Doesn't she factor in all of this? I don't want Justin raising Bo's kid! Alot of people on all the boards want Bope back together already! Not many people are happy about this storyline at all! The have had enough of this sl already! The writers need to face facts this sl is a dud. |

I am really looking forward to this playing out. I am so GLAD finally Bo is not bowing down like Hope thought he would, like he has done every other time in the past.. its time to deal with the true issues or realize sometime as much as you love someone its just not enough to keep a marriage together. |

What does that have to do with Bo having feelings for Carly again? Because if this is about Hope, then Bo/Carly is nothing more than a rebound for Bo. And sure, Bo loved Carly...sixteen years ago. |

I so want them to explore Bo and Carly without having to worry that this will be a blip on the radar. I like others am worried this will just be a pit stop on the way to reconciling Bo and Hope. As far as Bo and Hope separating causing the ratings to tumble, I think we all learned when the DHs left that no one couple can control the ratings. Edited by dc cubs, Dec 16 2009, 11:07 PM.

Apparently GT is willing to risk it. It's hard times for soap and the same old, same old will not fly. I think that when they saw they did not lose viewers, but in fact gained viewers, after J/M and S/K will let go, they learned something. Good stories and good acting are what viewers want. Not the supercouple end game, repetitive over and over and over, Hope throws a fit, Bo bows to her and they are back again. |

Exactly. The other thing too is that Bope have basically been apart since September and the ratings have even IMPROVED. They've been apart in the past and it's been fine. It's all about the story and no one story is going to kill this show anyway. This actually sounds fantastic. Those Bope scenes sound REALLY good and I like that everything is awkward for Bo. The only thing I don't like is having Christmas at Bo and Hope's. Why? For one day, they couldn't trot out the Horton set. Maybe because they know they can't use Alice but that isn't a really good reason. The only year I recall no Christmas at Alice's was the Aremid year and I hated having it in Aremid. Oh, well. It can still be good but it's not the same. Other then that, I love this. |

I don't know about that one. Besides why would they promote Bo and Hope as a couple on 30 Rock if they were going to keep them apart? Doesn't make sense. |

No, don't say that. There is no endgame. That was KC's deal. He would say that. KC has little to no control at the show. Now it's Tomlin and NBC and Sony. And they like what they are seeing. Supercouples had their day. It's over. |

It's probably that "new production model" everyone's praising. |

Last weeks ratings were pretty bad and this sl was playing. I don't see them getting any better with this stuff. |

Love doesn't die unless you do something to make it die and sometimes even if that person does something you still love them. I don't care if it's 50 years. It doesn't go away. You can move on but it's still there. Bo did not break up with Carly and Carly only went with Lawrence because of Nicky. The show messed up making her motives clear at that time but that was the reason. The show's been building up to this and they haven't forced it but I do think they expect some people to be against it. |

Actually, this story only played twice that week of the ratings and most of it was about Carly moving into Maggie's. Regardless, the show had gone up or stayed the same for a long time so a bad week was bound to happen. Also, one story does not make or break the ratings. I agree with Sam09. You tell a good story and see where it goes and what is right for the characters. If that is splitting up Bo and Hope, so be it. I feel they both could use a breakup. Does it have to be permanent? Maybe, maybe not. But I do think they should go there. |

Yes the babyswitch crap hasn't done the ratings any good either. |

The climax helped it tie for #2 in the ratings in November. That story encompassed alot of the canvas so that is one exception to the rule in regards to one story impacting ratings. That story had so many layers to it and that is why it helped the show surge for this whole year. The drop last week was predictable. The show did poorly early in the week when things were slow but gained viewers as things picked up steam as the week progressed. The show will likely gain this week in the ratings. I can understand feeling as though the show may be making a mistake but I think it's hard to use ratings in this case to argue that case. |

I find it odd that there is no mention of the christmas reading at the hospital or the vigil at the pier for Sydney. Isn't this happening when all this is going on too? I thought everyone in Salem was supposed to be at the vigil? |

The vigil happens on Thursday the 24th and I believe I read somewhere the reading will be on the 25th. |

I'm excited for Bo and Carly, but I'm sort of disappointed about Christmas Eve being held at Bo and Hope's house. For one thing, I miss the Horton house and I look forward to seeing it every Christmas. For another, what family asks a couple, who are having marital problems, to host Christmas at their house? You would think Maggie and Julie would insist on Bo and Hope not doing anything to help out with Christmas this year, leaving it completely up to them, so that the Bradys can repair their marriage. |

I'm just upset this is turning into Bo/Billie/Patrick/Hope redux! I wanted something better for Carly! Maybe this time will be different. I like Carly but I hated Billie. Don't like Justin and believe any Justin and Hope coupling will be boring. At least Bo and Carly have chemistry. Justin and Hope have none! |
