After all the Glambert pimping last season, I was considering not watching this show again. However, I adore Ellen DeGeneres so I'll definitely be tuning in. Let's hope this years group is more talented than last years. |

CARLY'S BACK!!

Wow...already, Kenny  . Well, I can't wait! I love discussing it on the DR and making my insanely long posts once we actually reach the real competition after the auditions, Hollywood week, etc. I do hope they learned from the Lambert pimping but I doubt it. Have you noticed how they seem to already be pimping some contestants in the promos? That is not a good sign. They already have their "chosen ones" LOL. Also, it is so obvious they hate Kris Allen when they don't even use him in their promos. The only year they didn't use the winner in the promos was Taylor Hicks...until now. They couldn't be more obvious with how pissed off they are. |

Actually, they used Kris Allen in one of the promos but he was barely shown. It still makes me laugh every time I think about how the pimping backfired last season, LoL. The producers must've been so pissed off. I couldn't have scripted it any better! Anyway, I'm glad Justin Williams is back this season. He made it to Hollywood last year but they cut him for some reason I'll never understand. His voice is angelic! |

Did they use him? Must've missed it if that was brief LOL. They usually use one of the winner's singles or show their winning moment in the promo. Not this year. Just like Taylor Hicks...they're pissed LOL. I was just as happy as you when Kris won last year. I voted my fingers off  . However, if I knew Kris was going to be set up to fail as a resort (he got not promotion and you can tell they could care less about him), I would've changed my tune. It sucks for him because if promoted enough and given the proper guidance and support, I think he could do very well. I think in a year or so we won't even know what the hell happened to him. I'm trying to remember Justin Williams. I think I vaguely do and, if I'm right, he was pretty good. Hopefully, they don't do what they did last year and put personalities before talent. They usually alternate what they want every year so I think this year will be less about personality and more about singing. At least I hope so. |

They show his winning moment at the end of this promo. Very brief. There used to be a video of him on YouTube singing "February Song" by Josh Groban but it was taken down. It was taken down last season as well after he made it to Hollywood. |

So excited to the new dynamic with Ellen on board. They always pimp someone every year, so I'm sure we'll get it again this year. Am I the only one who is ready, before it even starts, for them to just FF to Hollywood. I don't care about the auditions anymore. It's the same formula every year, and most of them who do make it to Hollywood, we don't even get to see until then anyway. |

Yeah, but if they did that, the show wouldn't last as long, LoL. This is Fox's big blockbuster show. You don't really expect them not to milk it for all its worth, do you? :P I agree with you though. Most of the auditions = ZZZ. |

Wow...very brief LOL. I'm shocked they even bothered but I guess I'm glad they at least did that much for him. I do like the look of the promos though. They look a bit more professional and not tacky. I like the idea behind it of showing musicians struggling to make it and how Idol can be your ticket to success. That is what the show is all about. I remember Justin now, Kenny. He was pretty good. They cut alot of good talent last year before we even reached the live shows. As for the auditions, they are fun for like the first two weeks. After that, it gets tedious. I think the big issue is they start you off the first week with two days of two hour shows and that is like two weeks put into one so by the time you get through week two it's been like three weeks. It gets to be too much and they don't even show half the people they put through so it's not balanced. We just get the really bad people and the people they want to pimp with very little in between. Perhaps if they showed us some of the others they put through, it would help. Then again, that may allow for some of the others to build fanbases and eventually screw over the people they want to pimp and we can't have that now, can we? :hmmph: Edited by PhoenixRising05, Dec 19 2009, 02:40 AM.

They'll never top Season 8 in talent or competitiveness, but I'll tune in. |

Eh... that's what the show is about in theory. Amateur talent trying to find stardom. However, last season (and the season before) was full of people who already had recording contracts, etc. Remember that Joanna Pacitti scandal? And Carly Smithson? And David Cook? (Love him though!) |

Seriously? I could've sworn that you said you thought last season's Top 14 sucked, LoL. Anyway... I thought Season 8 left alot to be desired in regards to talent. They had a few people who were really dynamic and interesting to watch, but meh. I was never really blown away by any of them. |

I wouldn't worry about Kris at all. And I think he'll still be around in a few years. I saw some things on MJ'S blog From Kris singing at some of the Balls that they do on the radio station thinging, and they fans were loving him. If people would really give him a chance they'd start changing there tune. He all ready won over that Lindsey Parker from the yahoo blog that was such an Adam fan. And believe me after Kris won and Adam lost she wrote some bad things about Kris. People make me so mad when they put Kris down, they act like he kill someone or something. I love him so much for being who he is and not getting pissed at people. Shot most of the time when the media talks to him it's about Adam and his AMA performance. Is It Over,All Right With Me,and Can't Stay Away are awesome when he sings it live. I like Adam alot and think he can sing but hate how everyone thinks is the next coming. His still being so pimped even after Idol. Some people just can't give people another chance and that's very sad because there missing out on a very talented young man. |

I do too hope they put talent over personality this year. Give me some real groups to debate and vote over. I hated last year the first rounds of voting where it was set up to who they wanted to be put through to the top 12. I too still smile knowing the producers didn't get what they wanted. Sucks that they are basically throwing Kris aside. But I think he will be fine. His album is good and I have heard his songs being played on the radio station out here that had him as part of their holiday concert. I also wouldn't be surprised we find Kris in the future more behind the scenes and producing/writing music. He did bunch of his own arrangements along with helping others on the show. I too wish they would dump auditions and get to Hollywood week. I probably won't watch too much of the auditions. I usually just record them and FF through most of it. Will be interesting to see how Ellen fits into the panel, but I don't think we will be seeing her until at least Hollywood Week if not until the first voting rounds. |

His single is also now a top 40 hit. It's at 36, and I love the single LLWD alot. And I think with his band that his starting to loosing up a little bit more. I love his album and if people aren't buying it then it's there lost. His doing the AOL session and it was already taped and I heard a little clip of Red Guitar and it sounds awesome. It's going to be up on AOL Tuesday and I am going to watch it. People just need to get over it and get on with there lives. I know am tying but when I hear people talking bad about Kris I just have to jump in. Someone has to stick up for him. |
