I guess now she's supposed to look haggard because she's worried about her marriage and possible impending break-up? The hat today was funky. |

What a shitty Christmas episode. Hated it. I think I just saw Phillip Molest Melanie, but I can't be sure because she was wearing her clothes! Everyone in Salem has sex with their clothes on. The other day it was Safe. Someone had to tell me they had sex. Seriously, I just thought Rafe was hot and since Sami was cold he gave her his shirt. The dress Hope was wearing did not flatter the actress. Seeing that upset me. Julie is soooo right. The Bope break up is contrived in the worst way. Utter crap. Now Sami looks like Blair. Everyone is looking like Blair. Whoever it is I think I see, becomes Blair to me. Seeing Nicole pray was a joke. Honey, he ain't listening to you. Better luck dropping pennies in a pond. |

I wasn't moved by the vigil. I did feel bad for EJ overhearing Sami talking to Rafe about their perfect plan to keep EJ out of the picture. Just when I'm getting on board with Ari, she has to ruin it by getting jealous of Nicole and wtf would you give someone you've broken up with ten times and counting your grandfathers cufflinks? Their embrace at the vigil was nice, though. I'm indifferent to the Horton Ornament hanging ritual but Bope can milk Zach's death every year because PR and KA shine during those moments. Last year was better with Chelsea, I was a mess back then but they still did a good job. As Julie was henpecking Bo to death to the point I couldn't take it anymore, Julie got to me when she started getting choked up about Bope and it was so touching having Hope run into Dougs arms. Hope is feeling all alone right now as shown when she hung up the ornament to look back at everyone, she seemed removed and they even did something with the sound. Also, Hope is waiting for Bo to pull out the stops for her with her cryptic schpeal about "if this was a movie". Hope, my dear, I think yer gonna be waitin' a long time for that one. They are still doing a good job with Stefano and I am wondering what their future plans for him are going to be. Nicole even got to me today. Bravo to the no makeup and no fingernail polish. Usually the way Melanie is costumed is awful but the makeup was pretty, the hair was almost right and the nightie was good. Phelony wasn't hot or cold, they just were. Nathan and Stephanie, on the other hand were a bit hotter with their kiss, this pair are two peas in a pod. Sami is starting to have similar experiences to Hope, having a young child die, kidnapping, a man who likes to keep them in the dark for their own protection. I enjoyed their scene together. "We're sorry, your prayer cannot be completed as dialed. Please hang up and place your prayer again...." And, in regards to Hope, I swear I saw ribs and sternum today. *shudder* |

When Hope ran away from Julie's meddling into her daddy's arms and the look she gave everyone else in the room...sorry, Hope, but your daddy can't fix this one. Go grab a couple sandwiches, scrub half the make up off your face, and FIGHT for your man. She's right--it's not a movie and there's not going to be a HEA unless she quits acting like a spoiled little girl. Despite my frustration with the situation and my concern over KA (I'm beginning to be very worried for her health), the Bope scenes were absolutely heartbreaking, and I love that Hope talked about how they have never resolved their problems and just continued trying to be a perfect little family because everyone else said they belonged together. That's my take on their problems, too, and I think if they had dealt with all their old issues like they should have, Carly wouldn't be the problem that she's clearly going to become. The Horton Christmas tree ornaments is always a highlight of the holidays for me, but this year's was awful. Not enough Hortons, too rushed, too sad...and we didn't even see a lot of the ornaments. Jack, Jennifer, Abby, Bill...did I blink and miss them? That bitch Sami! I've always thought EJ was involved in the Sydnapping, and now I'm really hoping he is...I want EJ and Anna to disappear with Sydney and Sami never see her again. What Nicole did is no worse than what Sami would have done if her plan had worked out, without the "complication" of the baby's real father finding out about her. That scene infuriated me....and on Christmas Eve no less! Overall, a very miserable Christmas in Salem. I hope Friday's episode is better. |

So Sami's little touching scene at the gravesite with EJ was bullshit? Did she really say that Nicole and Sydney ruined her perfect little family with Rafe? Complication? And to top it off, EJ saw/heard it? Did I actually feel bad for EJ? I really couldn't believe that whole scene, but I think its purpose might have been to give EJ reason to keep Sydney from Sami...or at least it gave me reason to want EJ to keep Sydney from Sami. I guess we all wanted bitch Sami to return...well, there is your Christmas wish. Great idea of having an elderly hand and an older man's hand hang the Alice/Mickey ornaments. That really would have been better than having Maggie doing it. If we are going to pretend that is all well with both of them, might as well make it look like they are really there! Great seeing Lucas. I am going to miss him, so it was a nice touch with his family. Hope did look bad, but I always think she looks bad...so it was no surprise. Their scene was touching, but I kind of feel like I am over Hope and her little attitude. She really drove Bo off, so she needs to give a little here and attempt to resolve some of her issues that she had with Bo and stop blaming him for everything that happened. Glad to see Nicole and loved her prayer and the full circle of last year. I thought the vigil was very anti-climatic. I don't give much of a shit how EJ and Sami feel about their kid and don't buy them grieving all that bad...especially after Sami's little attitude. I bought Nicole's grief more. I like the Horton Christmas...it could use more Horton's but I look forward to the Christmas tradition of it all...even if it was a bit short! Merry Christmas, y'all! |

Today's epi was good but I agree with others that it was pretty damn depressing for a Christmas epi. I mean, I absolutely LOVED Julie's meddling and Doug's scolding of her for it and I loved all the Bope angsty dialogue after Hope remembered that flashback about Zack's death and she talked about how they never resolved their past issues. But damn. I don't want to be crying about Bope ending on Christmas Eve, and this show almost did have me crying today. Would've rather had just a moment of thawing in the Bope deep freeze with them angstily looking at each other and holding hands to try to keep it together and not bicker for Ciara's sake on Christmas. Hopefully we get something more like that tomorrow. Unlike other folks, I guess I wasn't terribly upset over how the Horton ornament hanging went down. I just thought it was pretty silly they kept having Stephanie refer to this as the Horton-Brady Christmas (sorry, Steph, even if a lot of Bradys show up it is still the HORTON Christmas alone! and it irked me they tried to claim this was the Brady Christmas event when she and Bo were the only Bradys who bothered attending the event. I mean, yeah, I know not many Bradys are around but I think Roman and Caroline could've gotten off work to attend if this was really a HOrton-BRady event. As for AZ being seen in jail and that possibly being filler. I actually liked that stuff today and have liked seeing her anguish in jail. First person in a long time I can remember seeing actually do jail time for something bad they did and actually seem upset about the pain they caused and feel suffering. It just makes Nicole so much more rootable for me than if she were to have been immediately ushered off screen following her arest and I wouldn't have gotten to see any of the torment she went through as a result of her mistakes. Arianna gave her dead grandpa's, excuse me... abuelo's :eyeroll: cufflinks to Brady for Christmas? Um why? Is it just because she's too broke to afford a present? Because I don't understand at all why a girl in an on-off relationship like the one that Brady and Ari have would give the guy she's with (sometimes) such a personal gift when she's totally insecure and flying off the handle constantly over his feelings for another girl. What is with this show's hard-on for such contrived warp speed intimacy just like with Philip in a rush to marry Mel one week (or less) after she finally breaks things off with Nathan and Rafe wanting to adopt Sami's kid after one date. I don't get it. :flipoff: DAYS for the stupid Sami and Rafe scene of them crying over their misfortune of failure in their big plan to illegally and unconscionably steal EJ's baby from him just so they could play house with it. Like someone else said... WTF was the point of the grave scene? If I didn't just want this stupid baby saga over so much I'd wish Anna (and EJ if he's in on it) keep Sami and Rafe away from Sydney for good. Even after EJ turned his back on his dad and agreed to keep Stefano out of the kiddie's lives she's still trying to shut EJ out of parenting? Bitch please. Would it fucking kill this show to write Sami a little less hypocritical and sanctimonious? p.s. LOL at PR now upset he didn't get his Christmas miracle. Just wondering, are you more mad that the show wasn't upbeat today or that the show didn't go exactly as you were repeatedly guaranteeing and insisting it would all last month that you were convinced a 1993 redux was happening? p.p.s. Merry Christmas, DR Days posters! |

I agree that the Horton's hanging their ornaments was too rushed. I think that's because as others have said there aren't many Hortons left on the canvas. It's especially noticeable this time of year. I hope we see some Hortons return to the show full time in 2010. It seems as if the new regime is concentrating on the Kiriakises and Dimeras. I'm enjoying both of those families but it shouldn't come at the expense of the founding family of Days which is the Hortons. |

I liked the show. I just felt a miracle would've made it memorable. It would've made all the misery worth it. As others said, there was so much heartache you would've liked something good to happen. Even 2003 had Jennifer learning she was pregnant and Roman proposing to Kate amidst all the suffering over the "murders." We all know the miracle I wanted (and I had reason to believe up until a few months ago we would get that same miracle and I won't get any more into it then that LOL) but, in all honesty, anything of that nature would've sufficed. How about Brady pulling some strings and bringing some sort of Christmas to Nicole? I just feel like the episode was lacking a HAPPY emotional moment. It's fine though. Not every Christmas is happy. I just felt the show had some fantastic opportunities to make this a Christmas episode to remember but they clearly felt the stories they are telling were worth giving those opportunities up. That's fine. It's all about the stories and what is best for the show. I just hope the stories end up being worth it. |

They could really solve the problem by just bringing J&J and their kids back. They would fit in right now. You could then bring Bill and/or Laura back for Christmas too. with them in town. Hell, bring Mike along. That fills things up quite well. I really hope the show takes what is coming up and uses it to as a platform to bring back Horton's, even if it's just for visits like D&J. Nathan is on the show now so bring Melissa back once and awhile. Things like that. I don't expect them to go on a spending spree. The tradition will always be nice but it won't be the same as years ago until they get more Horton's back on the canvas, at least at this time of year. |

I won't lay all the blame on this regime though. It's been a collaborative effort since the 80's. JER slowed down the process somewhat with bringing characters like Laura back and making Lucas a Horton but most of the regimes have been slowly dissolving the Horton family's presence. It's just sad. I almost feel like launching a campaign LOL. |

You know, all of this insta-romances and rushing things right along simply point out that soap writers today have no idea how to do long-term romantic plotting or slow builds. I remember the days when all the soaps would string viewers along FOR MONTHS with misunderstandings combined with longing looks across a room and then 1 step forward and 2 steps back all building up to... just the first kiss. And viewers would swoon and beg for more, but then something would happen (normally, a silly misunderstanding) that would push them apart. When they finally got to the point that they admitted to one another they loved one another (all under the swell of a stirring love theme), along would come a third (or fourth) party that would come between them. And when they FINALLY got back together and made love for the first time (sometimes a year or more after the courtship first began) it warrented an announcement (and an underscored FINALLY!) on the covers of the soap mags. By the time there was a proposal (always during sweeps) and the wedding (always during sweeps), viewers were nearly salivating. Nowadays, a couple meets, the fuck, the argue, they might get together, they might go somewhere else, they might get married (but no one really cares, including the couple). Geez, people. Can we plan things out a *little* long-term, please? |

I don't think it has anything to do with planning. It's clear Days plans things out. I think the issue is shows think fans need instant satisfaction now and, to a degree, they are right. How many complaints are on the boards a day from people who beg a show to pick up the pace? I think the problem is the show's don't look at the couple and do what works for them. For instance, with Philip and Melanie I can buy the rushed proposal and wedding. They are both impulsive. Philip is a sleazy, "I want what I want when I want it" type and Melanie acts before thinking and thinks she wants this because it is what she wanted before she changed for the better. I think it all depends on the couple. You do what works for that couple and for that story. Years ago, every couple seemed to fit into that mold of slow-burning romance but times have changed so I think now it's more a case of doing what is right in individual circumstances. |

Hey Angie or Kenny... I was wondering about two spoilers I've read other places that seemed to have not come true this week... EJ figuring that Ari is working for the police and a close moment between EJ and Sami tomorrow... I'm wondering if these were simply rumors, scenes that were left out or moved. |

ATWT was EXCELLENT. But it's not a competition LOL. Every soap is different. I still liked OLTL's the best this year but Days will always end up ranking above the rest in my heart (it's MY show so I can't help it LOL), even if I know other soaps may have done it better every now and then. |
