That Bo and Hope scene was HEARTBREAKING.
It was. I was already a little misty from the ornament hanging (hey, I'm a sap) but that Bope scene just got me.

I just wish they hadn't shown Maggie hanging Mickey's ornament, especially when we were told he was in the kitchen with Alice. They should've just shown the ornaments hanging, just like they did Tom and Alice's. It just looked wrong for Maggie to be hanging her's and Mickey's with him right next door. I still enjoyed the hanging of the ornaments. It was sad seeing Lucas too knowing what we know. And the new Allie totally reminds me of Nicole Cox (Endora from Passions). I do like that we got to see Shawn, Belle, Claire, and Chelsea's ornaments too.

That EJ/Sami/Rafe scene cemented it for me. EJ HAS to be working with Anna.

Loved the Stefano/Anna phone call  .

I was thinking the same thing. Why else would they toss that scene in?

I know I will likely be in the minority but AS broke my heart too in that vigil scene and JS did a good job with getting teary-eyed right behind her.

I still wish we were getting some sort of miracle because as nice as this Christmas Eve episode is, it's lacking outside of the Horton stuff and the vigil. I expected that though when all you really have to work with is the ornament hanging, Bope, and the vigil. That is why I wanted the miracle so bad but you have to put the story first and this story has to much potential to pass up.

Oh, yay!

I am so happy they gave us a montage at the end. It wasn't as good as last year's that was set to Nadia singing but I was hoping for one. I loved all the classic soap glances (Bo looking at Carly as Hope looks on, Brady and Arianna glancing at each other, EJ looking on as Sami and Rafe embrace). I also loved the little Lumi/Will family embrace in the middle of it. I also love how they sort of revisited the ending of last year's Christmas Eve episode where Nicole knelt down and prayed for a baby and now she's praying for the baby she ended up with to be brought home to the real parents. That was a nice reversal and touch. I also liked the Stefano/Kate moment in the montage. They are truly all each other has so I loved the way that scene played in the midst of everything else. The whole montage just starts out happy with Philip/Melanie, begins to get sad with Stefano/Kate, and then just dovetails into all the pain on the pier. The whole thing was well-done IMO.

It's a shame because I feel like the plan was to end this saga right here. The music used for the montage and the way they kept building everything up in this whole episode and the whole year seemed to build toward a miracle. Would it have been a ripoff of 1993? Maybe but I don't care. That would've made this episode fantastic and would've been a nice way to put a stamp on this. Whatever. This story better be good LOL. I just think a miracle at the end would've really helped this episode have more punch. I figured they would tease Anna bringing the baby back so no surprise there but I wish they had ended on the vigil scenes and not Anna, despite the final scene ending on the manger which was nice but still.

All in all, not too bad. Better then 2005 but worse then last year. It did enough, I suppose but maybe I'm just a little sad I didn't get the miracle I wanted LOL.

Tomorrow sounds good though.

The Horton Ornaments scene is the BEST soap Xmas tradition..hands down! It always gets me feeling nostalgic and I love it!

WOW....what a bitch Sami is to say that..so her sincerity was all fake! I hope FINALLY EJ gets it....Sami treats you like shit...MOVE THE FUCK ON! This character only redeeming quality is that HE HAS TO BE THE SYDNAPPER! A fuckin Dimera acting like a pussy is just SO SO WRONG!

I loved how they tied Nicole's wish last year, with her wish this year! DAYS Xmas always gets to me.....and I love the use of the montage! For some reason KA looked better in that flashback, then now.

It really is, but today's episode was underwhelming, IMO. The ornament hanging was very "blink and you'll miss it." TPTB treated it as an afterthought rather than the main attraction and that's a shame. The candlelight vigil (which got all the attention) was ZZZ and pointless since there was no miracle...

I actually felt the whole episode was a balance of the vigil and Bo/Hope breakup.

The ornament hanging is never going to be bigger then it is. Alice is gone. Mickey is gone. There aren't enough Horton's. It will always be the main attraction by notoriety but you can't expect the show to do more with it and make it any longer when you don't have enough people there to even make it work. Last year they even had to shove J&M, Abe, Lexie, and Theo in there just to fill the room. It's sad. The show needs more Horton's if they ever want to make this something more then it's been the last few years.

That is why I wanted a Christmas miracle. It would've added so much punch but I'm beginning to sound like a broken record so I will let it go LOL.

It was a good episode. I felt last year was better. We at least got some magic moments with Bo finding Zack with Theo's help and John's epiphany but this was a typical Days Christmas. I think it ranks way above 2005 for me though. 2005 was the worst ever LOL.

True, about the scenes being short but its DAYS of Sami's life, so I appreciate it being even shown, instead of it left on the cutting room floor!

With all the Hortons disappearing, I wouldnt be surprised if next year it was cut!

ETA..I watched last years Xmas this weekend and I also liked it better. I like Chloe's singing and her dropping her ornament. I loved my EJole lovin and their party then Nicole praying for a baby!

And a Xmas miracle was missing from this year...but Santa must of thought I was a good girl because NO XMAS MIRACLE FOR SAMI!!!!! I can take ANY miracle for any one else but her!

Maybe the Xmas miracle can be EJ FINALLY getting a clue about Sami never loving him or respecting his rights and getting all DiMera on her ass!!!!LOL

And never has the attention showered on one woman's twat made less sense.

Today's show was okay, not great. I always enjoy the Horton ornament hanging, even as reduced as it's become. The Zack stuff will never not get me. Normally KA's appearance doesn't bother me as much as it bothers a lot of y'all but today she really looked awful--her neck is so drawn and the makeup they load on by the bucketful doesn't help make her look any younger or fresher. It's too bad, because that Bope scene really was pretty good, but I just couldn't concentrate.

I totally agree with your comments about KA. I've always been a fan and think of her as a classic beauty - it was stunning to see how unhealthy she looks now. The contrast to the flashback scene when they were talking about Zack's death was stunning- and that was just a few years ago. I really, really hope she's okay - but I have to say, I'm concerned. And wardrobe and makeup are doing her no favors, either. :shame:

I keep flip flopping back and forth as to whether I think EJ is involved in the sydnapping. At the moment I don't think he is or was initially - but after hearing Sami spewing her crap I could totally see him finding out who has Sydney and where and deciding to keep that little tidbit to himself. And I wouldn't blame him one little bit. In fact, I find I'm sort of hoping that will be the case.

The ornament hanging is always sentimental - but it was just weird that Maggie is there without Mickey and no mention as to why. It was nice, but bittersweet to see Lucas and his kids there. I have to say, I was shocked to see Lucas at the vigil - but again, it was sad that he was so clearly in the background.

Not a terrible Christmas Eve episode - but certainly not up there with some of the best we've seen.

Oh God, would you ever hear people bitch if that were the case!! They may be telling the 20, 30 and 40-year viewers to subtly go to hell, but the Horton ornament scene is always a highlight of each year's Days Xmas show.

It was a little underwhelming this year, but at least they showed the ornaments. I rarely agree with Phoenix on long-term story, but I think we both agree the show needs more Hortons.

And Kenny, I couldn't agree more... I'd like to forget Xmas 2003 ever happened. I'd like to forget 2003-04 ever occurred, but the tapes are out there. Damn.

"Relax nobody's having sex.... at least not yet"

I just saw the episode with Sami attacking Kate, and that made me nostalgic of their rivalry.

Go to 5:06, I love it so much.

Kate: "Face it Sami, you and the church don't mix. You're either getting left at the altar or kidnapping your sister. What other horrible things are going to happen today."

well, here goes......
1. I, too, think it was weird that Mickey and Alice were supposedly in the kitchen, then someone else hangs up their ornament? What, they couldn't leave the doughnuts long enough? At the VERY least, they could have used a middle-aged hand and an elderly hand hanging them up to make it appear as though Mickey and Alice were doing it. No faces needed. They didn't even show everyone in the living room, so those hands there would make it seem like they were really there.
2. The Zack thing was touching. I was actually feeling sad for Bo and Hope, and the bitchiness wasn't evident. And yes, KA does not look healthy.
3. The Nicole prayer was also touching. Maybe that was the Christmas miracle.....she came full circle and was at peace with herself and the truth.
4. I wonder if Anna will get stopped for speeding in Salem? Taking the baby right into what would be the lion's den for her? I suppose she's delivering the note. Kinda quirky cute to see the Tony photo with a cap. She speaks of Tony so much in the past tense in her soliloquies, I doubt Tony is alive. But then again, Mickey and Alice were supposedly in the kitchen.....anything is possible. I hope this isn't like what we've had in the past....the writers keep playing around and don't have an end result in mind.
5. I LOVE little "Gonna go with the flow" Sydney DiMeara!

I agree. I'm getting concerned about her. She's just skin and bones!!
