I wondered if this was true. Wow. I think I'm going to keep my tweeting very selective, hacked or not. I love Dick Clark, and opinion or no, some things just shouldn't be out there in cyberspace. We don't need to know every time someone takes a crap, for Pete's sake, and we don't need to know everything someone might voice outloud to a few people. What one might say to a few close buddies and what goes out to potentially hundreds of people are two different things. |

I agree with this. I've certainly seen plenty of nasty things said about GG on the net. Maybe I'm just a cold, nasty bitch, but I don't think these comments are the height of douchbaggery. I happen to agree that it's uncomfortable and sad to watch people who are a shell of who they once were due to age and/or disease. I recall a few years back my father noticing Lou Holz on a halftime show and asking in disbelief why he was still around because it was time to let younger men build their careers. I don't think GG's analogy to MJ is exact nor is my Lou Holz a perfect one either, since what seems to be offending people is Clark's status as a stroke victim, but in general I agree with the idea that it's usually better to let go gracefully when one's abilities deterioriate. |

^^ Word. :) As much as I'm the first to jump in and debate all things EJami I don't see this as anything to do with fan wars nor do I see anyone tryinhg to make it that except from the one poster who insinuated it. I'm no fan of GG - thus I'm not likely to give his opinion on much of anything any credence. But I absolutely understand why some are offended - particularly those who have had personal experience with strokes or victims of stroke. The fact that he has never removed the tweets makes me think he stands by what was said - and either was looking to create a bit of controversy or doesn't give a shit what anyone else thinks about it. |

Excellent advice. I have no clue what kind of guy GG is, but I am not surprised by this kind of stuff. I am sure that most of the soap people we like are douchebags...they just aren't as obvious or drunk when posting to their Twitter. My grandpaw and grandma both had strokes, cancer, Alzheimers, etc. and to put any stock into stuff GG says is ridiculous, much less insulting. I couldn't care less what GG thinks about Dick Clark or the Kama Sutra or even his fans. I certainly am not one of them. And since we are all allowed to have opinions, especially on our personal Twitter accounts but even here too, I back everything Liz says. NYE was almost a week ago...why this shit now? |

thank you! i think part of the reason this is getting so much attention on soap boards is because a lot of people already don't like galen for one reason or another, and in their minds, this 'proves' that he is as much of a real-life douchebag as they claim his character is. this entire situation has been blown WAY out of proportion in my mind. |

How does it being posted now back up anything Liz said? It's not like GG has been in the news for anything positive, or something, and someone is digging up old info to throw at him to hurt him. Maybe QC just found out. Who cares? It's not like Jan 1st was ages ago. What's ridiculous is, as someone said, the need to make everything into a fan war. I also hope QC feels comfortable sticking around after all this. We had a thread here looking at the myspace posts of the man who supposedly quit because his character had sex with a man, and I could've sworn we had one about the James finger fiasco - I know other boards did. There's even a huge gossip thread in another section of the board. GG isn't getting anything different than anyone else. :eyeroll: Phoenix, or whoever asked, one of his Venice costars was chatting with him, too. At one point she said she thought he was hacked, then later she said something like "it's you!" as if something had convinced her. Edited by six, Jan 5 2010, 10:02 AM.

The really funny thing is a lot of the reviews of the show mentioned Clark sounded and looked the best he had since his stroke. Still has trouble talking at times, but cripes... I give him credit for just DOING the show. Dick Clark IS New Year's Eve. |

I don't mind people disagreeing with GG for what he said but I find it suspect when posters agree with his assessment of DC and then slam him for being honest about it. By the way, it's easy to post random comments on to other people's twitter page (or send mass texting or emails) if they don't log out of twitter and then leave their phone on a coffee table and forget about it for a couple hours. ;) Edited by ilovemydays, Jan 5 2010, 10:17 AM.

I really don't care what GG thinks one way or another, but I think if he tweeted this he should probably issue an apology or take them off. I figure he was probably drunk, and just said whatever came to his mind. Dick Clark probably did look bad (I didn't watch), but I have seen GG act and I don't think people in glass houses should throw stones. Do I think GG is a terrible person for saying all this? NO Do I think he's a terrible actor?? YES :P I think most of us have said or done something whilst imbibing that we wished we hadn't, so I guess since I live in my glass house, I won't throw any stones!! ;) And, I don't think it's necessarily "trying to start a fanbase war" by posting this.....just look at the responses.....the folks upset by this aren't necessarily "GG haters" or "Ejamis" ..........I think if you're in the public eye, be it an actor (or one trying to pose as one) or socialite, or whatever....when you choose to post on a public forum like twitter you get to reap the whirlwind of whatever you post.....it's all fair game. |

It doesn't. I just agree with Liz that this is no big deal probably brought on by someone who hates GG/Rafe/Safe and wants to paint him in a negative light. Maybe even insight people to complain to the studio to get him fired...why else would we keep posting it to different boards? Not necessarily QC, but if QC was a fan of GG and she saw how shitty he treats his fans and realized that he might not be the sweetest man like she thought he was, then I understand her disgust. It's always rough when we are crushed by our faves. However, I don't think much of GG, I am not a fan of his, don't think he is a good actor either. Don't really know much about him other than that, and his comments about DC and sex positions are stupid. It's not that big of a deal unless we make it one. And maybe he is trying to be the "socialite type" and get his name out in the threads for publicity. This certainly riled soap fans up. Maybe he isn't that stupid after all. SO I agree with you. Who cares? |

In regards to miscounting, everyone does realize that some of the cameras are on a tape delay, don't they? The count was off on CNN this year, too, and I'm sure Kathy & Anderson know how to count. |

You may have a point as he has gained about 500 new followers since his unwitting PR team have been 'promoting' him all over the message boards! :jedi: If James flipping the middle finger at Days fans at a fan event didn't get him fired, Galen will only get praise for increasing buzz around the net  I'm still trying to figure out the point of this thread myself  |

The way I see it, he (or whoever wrote it) painted himself in a negative light, and since people in general love gossip, they're going to talk about it. I think we'd have had this thread eventually, no matter which soap actor said it, especially since it seems like lots of people generally have positive opinions of the actor's characters, even if they don't like their acting skills or their...character. I watched a portion of it unfold in real time, and saw a lot of people who were bothered, but no one calling for his head, which leads me to believe it's not being blown as far out of proportion as some past issues were. Basically, though, once GG's twitter put up that section about him being asleep, I gave him the benefit of the doubt, since it is plausible. I extend that to others too, though, since I know first hand how annoying it is to say something only to have someone shove your opinion in a fanbase box and dismiss you using that. And if it was him, doing it for attention, well, I guess he's relieved someone finally brought it up. This thread wouldv'e been posted the same day if AS had said it. ;) As to the point of the thread, it has the same point that the threads about JS and his middle finger, or the gossip thread over in general discussion. Congrats, Galen. You've finally arrived. You're being treated just like everyone else. Edited by six, Jan 5 2010, 11:16 AM.

LOL. One of my local affiliates had one of the hosts yapping away merrily right before the countdown talking about the Olympics, and his co-host was like - "Kevin, it's 8!!" |

just so you know twitter is your personal feelings, thoughts, or just what your up too... There is a such thing as freedom of speech.... There was also a comment made about Galen waking up soon after all of this... which makes you wonder whether this was Galen or his wife. And there is a difference when James does what he did... :flipoff:... at days fan. If people don't like him, why are they reading him? And if people don't like what he said (if that was him), then don't follow or read him. I don't care for hustller, think it's degrading to women, so I don't read it.... Okay. I just looked of the DC countdowns on youtube (I've never seen them) and I see now that, not only did the verbal count not line up with the actual count live onscreen), but DC actually missed a couple of numbers in the verbal count (for example, jumping from 13 to 11, then going back to 12 and then to 10). Enh. If that's the most tragic thing to happen on NYE, I think I can live. |

I was on Twitter when this was going on, and I was even disagreeing with the guy. The conversation quickly went downhill when he started talking about the kama sutra and the different positions the book describes! That's when I started wondering if it was actually him, but Nadia seemed to think it was. :drunk: Galen, or whoever that was, is entitled to his opinion just as I am entitled to strongly disagree with it. |

I have my doubts this is really Galen. Twitter can be great but just like the internet it will have consequences. If it is him, I don't think it's a big deal. No bigger than James' finger fiasco. As for fanwars, I don't care if it is intened to fan the flames, I'm not reallly sure if I know when a fanwar is going on but people are in control of their posts and as long as they follow the rules of the boards they are on then it's all gravy. |
