I can't get over Patty dying Emily's hair. Y&R is truly awful right now.

This Patty/Jack storyline is so fucking stupid. And it starts with the hair bleaching and continues on massive missteps from there on. It's uncreative and extremely, EXTREMELY half-assed.

You know what would have been a good idea? Patty escapes the day of the wedding. Early on, pre-dawn maybe. Somehow, someway she planned her escape, got out of the mental ward, and has been wandering around undetected. She dyes her hair and gets herself all fixed up.

The wedding's about to start, everyone is at the church.. except Emily. Then you have Paul arrive at the psych facility only to find out Patty's not in her room, and the orderlies there can't find her on grounds and it puts 'em all on alert. Paul notices her room's all a mess and he finds that little piece of paper announcing Jack and Emily's marriage. So he jets for the church where Emily and Jack are going to get married.

Paul confronts Jack over his selfishness, showing him the marriage announcement and, even such, tries giving him fair warning that Patty's on the loose. Jack asks if Emily's there at the church, and no one's seen her, not even Chloe. So a rush to her place at the Gym Club thing. Patty was already at the church, overheard all this, and they show a shot of her hands all covered in dry blood.

Then you shift over to the club, Jack arrives at her room, the door's a smidge open. He opens it up, there's Emily. Knife into the back, blood all over and she's half dead. She gets rushed to the hospital.

Paul starts going on the search for Patty, as do the police. Along the way, Patty interacts with Phyllis and Summer. Maybe they're at the park for the day, and Phyllis is busy reading up on some Adam-related shit when she hears her daughter yell happily to "Mary Jane". Scares the shit out of her, she runs up to her daughter at the sand box or something, and notices who she thinks is Emily running off in the other direction. This has a point, so wait for it.

Then you end the whole thing in a night time confrontation where Patty takes her own life and spares us of this miserable Patty bullshit and Paul constantly saying Patty Cake. ESPECIALLY Paul saying that. Anyway. Maybe you have Lauren working late due to stress in her home life with Michael over that little Daisy ho-bag. Lauren's at work and someone's at the door. She lets Patty in thinking she's Emily, before Patty pulls a gun on her and the jig is up. She takes Lauren hostage. Hold on, this has a point too.

Patty calls the cops and demands that she be able to get out of dodge or she'll kill Lauren. Yadda yadda. Police arrive, spectators are there (including Billy, Ashley, Neil, and such - most of them are just there for the entertainment. Daisy's there too), Jack and Paul arrive. They both manage to get into the place when they offer to talk to Patty and the police let them. Yes, I know. But this is less plausible than Patty getting away by dying Emily's hair with peroxide and her finger paints.

You end this all with Jack pleading to Patty about how sorry he is about his treatment of her when she was his wife and when she was with him as Mary Jane, if he'd have known it was her maybe things would've wound up differently, and how he wishes he had a stable, friendly relationship with her like he does with his two other ex's. Paul pleads with her, hopefully keeping a tab on those Patty Cake comments. And asking her to spare another life from being harmed by her.

She lets Lauren go, but she points the gun on both men to keep them away. Then she does something awesome and spills the beans on Victor, him paying for her plastic surgery and gives up a lead on the doctor's name. This gives Paul info that he can dig off of. She also goes off on his failed promises, about helping her to get back together with Jack and so forth. Showing that he deliberately manipulated and mislead an impressionable, unstable woman and putting her down the path she took, hurting the lives she hurt. She winds up saying she's sorry, yadda yadda, cut to the shot of the spectators outside, and you hear a big bam. Next shot is Paul next to his dead sister, crying and swearing that he'll find justice.

Next up: Him and Jack go at it, blaming one another, yadda yadda. Then Billy or someone points out that Victor's the reason why she wound up AS mentally unstable as she became, and that they should focus on him rather than eating at each other. Yadda yadda. Paul goes off to tell his brother what happened, along with mourning, and Jack just goes back off to Emily in the hospital. She's in critical condition, but yadda.

This all sets up:

- More people uniting against Victor.
- Paul and Jack, even unsteadily as it would be, teaming up to go after Victor. Jack provides the money that Paul would need in his resources to find the doctor that did Patty's work.
- Phyllis would have all the more reason to tell Jack about what is up with Adam, Nick and Victor, giving Victor suitable proof he needs to go to the authorities to have this stuff investigated. Along with more Nick/Phyllis drama.
- Phyllis becoming even more motivated to take down Adam, since he's the spawn of his father and if putting him up in a state pen hurts Victor, then fine with it.
- Tension with Lauren and Michael over his employment by Victor, with him ultimately choosing to quit as Newman's attorney and side with his wife. He then goes to work for Tucker or Katherine instead.

From there:
- You lead this into Paul getting the info he needs and filing a wrongful death suit against Victor Newman.
- Phyllis finds out the goods on Adam and figures everything out. Adam gets arrested under suspicion, but this time he's smarter and he's saved up money. He gets a top flight lawyer that cuts the case to shreds and the only thing they have on him is knowing something bad about the doctor that no one else did. He maintains an air of innocence and tells Ashley he really is sorry that he brought the doctor into her life. This has a point later on.
- Jack and the rest of the Abbotts, including Billy, file a joint lawsuit and, not only do they wind up getting Jabot back, but they also get a sizeable chunk of Newman's own goddamn company.

So anyway.

Paul would lose his case, just because Victor is that shrewd. This'd lead to Paul sinking off the deep end into a life of booze and whores to cover up his frustration about Victor winning AGAIN, the death of his sister, and his own failings in that area. Patty Cake would be said many a' time in his drunken state.

Jack, although he won Jabot, wouldn't be satisfied with just getting the company. The love of his life is in a coma and could possibly never be the same again and/or she might be paralyzed and/or she might die. Or something. So his vendetta is going strong.

Phyllis breaks up with Nick and starts to develop a deep seeded resentment for Victor when her little girl, after the run in with Patty at the park, starts regressing from her rehabilitation process.

Ashley, of course, has another mental breakdown. Luckily Neil's there for her, but she still has dreams of murdering Victor.

Tracey, as well, starts boozing up, because she gave her daughter's heart to such an evil, vile man. She starts second guessing her "let it go and just be" opinion and also has thoughts of taking her own revenge. Her and Paul drunkenly shack up during this time. Nothing is said of it ever again, but there's always a weird tension. Even Nina notices, but can't put two and two together.

Adam, well. Adam, being scot free of all charges and he sits back, acts calm and collected about everything and he just observes and relishes in all the hatred people currently have for Victor. Since there wasn't enough evidence to tie Adam to the baby switch, he starts taunting people and setting gas on the fire. And promoting the thought, to Ashley, that if he knew what he knew about the doctor, then wouldn't Victor know too? He then muses that maybe Victor was behind the baby switch and HE was the one that was blackmailing the doctor.

This'd lead to Adam's last bit of masterfully evading detection and blame, when Ashley (who I'd still have living at the mansion) finds some incriminating evidence against Victor in a locked drawer (that, supposedly, Victor has the only key to) in his office that she busts open one night. Yadda yadda.

This all leads to a big whodunnit. Victor winds up dead from gunshots. But WHO DID IT? It gets made up to look like Jack is the culprit. I'd have it be someone initially confronted and shot Victor twice in the chest. He went down, and the culprit, as they were leaving, they dropped the gun behind out of.. maybe shock or something. Adam comes in, realizes his father's still alive, sees the gun on the floor, picks it up and goes off into some rant about his father and how he has his father's life in his hands, and yadda yadda. He points the gun at the half alive Victor's face, Victor calls him a son of a bitch, then bam. Headshot. Adam takes the gun with him. And he somehow finds a way to get Jack's fingerprints from somewhere (maybe a glass at the sports club) and set his prints onto the gun. Maybe he knew someone inside the pen who could do that.

So Jack gets set up even though he's innocent, Adam's the real killer and there was a third party who we don't know. The one that could possibly come forth and reveal themselves as the shooter and free Jack.

I've spent wayyyy too much time on this. Boredom + Seeing Y&R dropping the ball completely = this.

Yeah, I think that Patty is going to end up pregnant with Jack's baby, after Emily dies in the hospital. It's funny that Maria Bell states that she used to work on the show when William Bell Sr. was head writer, but it doesn't seem that she is following his example. Her storylines are so RUSHED, and it seems that she is making many of the characters STUPID just to justify her stories. William Bell Sr. would have NEVER done any of these things. However, the show is still pretty good, in my opinion. Much better than OLTL or DAYS!! :hail:

He IS! But I DID read it all and it's better than what's playing out on the screen these days! And Patty taking Lauren hostage would be a nice touch since the department store heiress's elopement with Paul was yet another reason for Patty bailing on GC in the '80's! They HATED each other!

Why is it that Ashley seems to remember everything except falling down the stairs, miscarrying and not giving birth?

I wonder how misleading that cover will be.

I watched the last 10 minutes yesterday and wondered why Jack was back so soon from his honeymoon.

I love her Diane. She does bitchy much better than Donnelly.

Kyle is so needed on this show, especially in lieu of absentee Noah.

And to elaborate, when they need a gruff psycho - call Donnelly. When they need subtle and bitchy, Susan Walters is perfect.
