I'm posting this here too since this is the Olympic thread....

NBC's Olympic coverage sucks and the way they pepper the evening coverage with for example the figure skating performances throughout the hours they are on annoys the hell out of me. If you turn the channel you may miss someone's performance because you don't want to watch the the skiing biathlon and etc. It also sucks a lot of the excitement and the special feeling that one gets when watching an event they enjoy.

^ITA..I never get to watch the "premiere" events because I either have to stay up WAY past my bedtime..or be a very cranky worker the next day!LOL

I find it funny that I like it when the Olympics are farther away in my time zone because for some reason the results are not splashed everywhere.

Dude NBC is fucking horrendous! Their "commentators" alone are a reason never to watch their feed.

Canada has massive coverage. Three basic cable tier channels 95% of their 24 hr schedule devoted to covering all the different events. So you dont like curling (who does anyway?!), you can put on CTV/TSN/SportsNet and watch a different event ... LIVE. CTV's local news is sometimes only getting 10 minutes a night, and they've either punted their US imports to other CTV owned but non-branded local channels like "A"(Greys, etc), or are just not airing them at all (B&B).

That alone is why NBC should be doing full daytime coverage. What they're doing now might work if the events were all happening at 3am, but they're in this timezone!

I'm shocked NBC's coverage is so bad. Really. My intention going into these game was to tune into NBC because I thought the production and coverage would trump CTV - boy, was I wrong. CTV has been friggin' GREAT. It's 24 hours. Stuff I want to see. AND LIVE.

And...Canada vs. Russia hockey? WOOOOOT WOOOOOOOOT! Damn, that was a GREAT game.

So we have USA vs. Finland and Canada vs. the winner of Sweden/Slovakia's game on Friday!

I'm so worried for the Canadian men tonight. Everyone expected a Russia vs Canada final not a QF matchup.
I was worried too!

And OUR Lu out there! LUUUUU (I know that comes out as "BOO" on TV, but we do it all our Canucks games!).

We gave them an ass whoopin'. I knew we'd win, but I thought it would be barely. Take that (and your injured hand!) Ovechkin!

Maybe NBC gave up on live daytime coverage because USA isnt as "successful" in the Winter Olympics v Summer, where its a given that US wins tons of medals.

They would have had awesome ratings since Americans have surpassed expectations in these Olympics. Instead a 45th hour of The Today Show and Days of our Melanie.

I was surprised that they aired the USA/Switzerland live on NBC today and even ran over into the typical local 5pm news. I was really getting into the game, but I know so little about Hockey that I had to keep running to my computer to look up stuff on Wikipedia just so I'd know what the hell they were talking about. Once I got a general grasp of things, I was really into it!

NBC's coverage is pitiful. I remember when you knew what was going to be on and what time, not a hodgepodge of events interwoven in and out of a block of five hours. If they're losing money, perhaps they need to pull out of this effort, don't do it again. Just. Say. No. Epic fail.

The Canada v Russia game sucked. It was so one-sided....7 goals? Thats a fuckin touchdown and extra point! I expected a hard fought game, but good for Canada.

What is up with all these penalties? Damn, the beginning of the Finland game was power play after power play.

LMAO to that last comment.

It still makes no sense why they're lacking on the live coverage, particularly as they're in the hole financially. We're IN THEIR TIME ZONE! With social media, people can and will find out scores and results right away, thus taking away interest and emotional investment in actually watching a race as it happens. I know it does for me. I like to be there in the moment, glued to my TV. Now, if I was selling ad space, I'd want to capitalize on that!

Again, being in their time zone is such an opportunity that they haven't taken advantage of. With Beijing and Torino, it was obviously impossible but now? I don't know what the excuse is.

LOL, we do that all the time here. And yeah, I used to be the same way - hockey is confusing at first, but once you get it, you get it (and become totally into the game - particularly when it's "sudden death"/high stakes!). That's why I tend only to watch NHL games near the end of the season - if it looks the Canucks won't make the playoffs, or the playoff games themselves!!! It's a lot more intense/exciting.

Yep, I feel I watch more commercials then anything else. You have ONE performance, then they say that they're going to come back later or another ONE performance, then another sport.

I usually like NBC's coverage, but this nighttime coverage sucks!

Well, they do suck, but at least ya'll had some glory days. Canucks have never even won a Stanley Cup! It sucks - every year, I think "maybe this'll be our year" and we get burned EVERY time! I need this gold medal to avoid going insane, LoL.

The Kings are having a great year this year. They finally have a great team after years of rebuilding. Try being an Oilers fan right now lol. Dead last in the NHL. I'm also a huge Canucks fan (Probably more then the Oilers) since I grew up in BC.

So happy Slovakia shocked Sweden. I think Canada should beat Slovakia.

Congrats Canada on the Women's Hockey Gold.
