Summer Olympics are more entertaining. I like things with tricks. Winter doesn't have much of that. That said, watch the figure skating tonight. I miss Jamie Salé and David Pelletier!

I also think it was really dumb that there was no wall or padding or anything in the part of the track where the accident happened. It was definitely foreseeable that something like that could happen and negligence on the track designer/builder to not take steps to prevent it ahead of time. I've also heard that Canada prevented competitors from other countries from getting to use the luge track for practice that much in the year before the games so as to get a competitive advantage and I think that was a mistake too.
This again is a huge exaggeration on behalf of the american media. Canada followed all of the rules regarding this, and have still given more access than other countries have in the past.

The US particularly was ridiculous in demanding an extra 6 weeks of track time. Its a little hypocritical of them to be bitching about fairness after making requests like that.
Thank You. I've had to explain the same thing to my american family side. The American media is a joke.

I had to miss Canada's 1st gold. Stupid Work.

The girls were great yestarday, glade USA came out on top.

Was rooting for Apollo Ono,he was awesome in skating.

I was praying my ass off during the Luge competition that nobody else gets hurt, thank god they used a different path.I got a little scared when one guy briefly fell off his board.

I gotta give props to all those involved in these olympics games,no matter where there from, these are great to watch, but also very dangerous, they do things I could NEVER do.
Saw Apollo get his medal tonight! It was awesome.

CTV showed her performance at BC Place from the medal ceremony. I dunno, it just doesnt seem olympics.
I was there, and disappointed. She didn't even perform Promiscuous - WTF? Had some awesome floor seats, though, so it was still fun...but still. Nelly: they're called hits. Look into it.

What? No way! What about Hockey?!?!

I don't know, I like both! I would pick Winter Olympics because of Hockey, but I think, overall, I like more of the Summer events individually...

I'm not a huge sports fan in real life, why would I be for the Olympics. Like I said all the winter shit are jumps and races. BORING!!!

I wish some Tanya Harding shit would go. Come on controversy!!!

Even if you disagree with me on the point about access to the track for practice, what about Canada's decision not to put up a wall or some padding all along the track in the event that someone got off track?

That just seems like something simple/easy to take care of ahead of time and I haven't heard any explanation why it wasn't done.

Because it was not something that was ever supposed to be able to happen. Thus the "freak" in freak accident. Luge courses are designed to prevent a rider from being ejected from the course, and in the over 2 years this course has operated it has never happened. YAY for the padding, but it will likely never see use and wouldnt have saved his life had it been there. Not when he's flying at 140km/hr.

The media and their pundits made far too much out of this, trying to find some sort of villain in this tragic accident. The olympics are on this side of the globe and are happening real time during the daytime as opposed to them normally doing taped replays from the middle of the night. They have lots of downtime between events now and its sad that this is how they're choosing to fill it.

It never fails that when skaters start falling on the ice during figure skating that I hear my Mom say "There must be something wrong with the ice..."

It's awful that they had to postpone the speed skating due to ice issues though...

No kidding. These are the Olympics, for God's sakes! They shouldn't be having these kinds of issues with ice.

Yep First Place as of now and they will be leaving with at least one of the medals. I thought they sucked ass myself.
