I dont know what is it about the Olympics but I FUCKIN LOVE them- Winter or Summer! The coverage sucks though because all the fuckin medal rounds are shown at the last hour, and damn, some people need to get up early to work! This happened the last time to me! I FLOVE curling! Last Olympics in Italy that was on at 5am LA time and I would wake up and turn on the TV to watch it?! Again, a fuckin rock and broom and I'm hooked! I love skating but the judging has always been biased...even moreso now because you dont have the breakdown of how each judge scored the performance. I can't wait for Ice Dancing cause I love the artistry! |

I love figure skating! As much as people are slamming Weir's scores, those are actually *really* good scores for him. He typically does a crash and burn and is very inconsistant. I was happy to see him do such a clean performance without a meltdown. Also, is quite easy to win with a difficult program with mistakes than an easier program with no mistakes. Until the Salt Lake City fiasco, Figure Skating was scored using the old 1 - 10 system and ordinals and could be oh, so rigged (which, it turns out, it was in 2002, hence the Canadian Pairs being awarded a co-Gold and the entire scoring system re-done into a points system based on difficulty and deductions). And how can someone win even if they fall? Let's look at it this way --- if you walk across the street, that's worth 5 points. If you hop across the street, that's worth 10 points (because it's more difficult to hop on one foot than to walk normally). You get 1 point taken away each time you fall (because, after all, a fall is a fall no matter what you're doing when you fall). If 1 person walks and 1 person hops and neither falls, the one who hops wins because he gets 10 points while the walker only gets 5. If the hopper falls twice, he loses 2 points, giving him a total of 8. Even if the walker never falls, the hopper will still win (even with 2 falls) because he started out doing something that awards more points when executed perfectly. The hopper would have to fall 5 times to bring his starting score down to where he would tie with a perfect walker. |

I wonder if it's going to be an ice derby this year like 2006 when Ice Dancers were falling right and left. I'll never forget that death stare the female Italian ice dancer gave her partner after he dropped her. I'm convinced to this day that if she'd had anything sharp on her, she would've stabbed him right then and there at center ice. Even the commentators called it the "look of death". |

I hate the "extra points" bullshit because the artistry is gone and its more about how many times I can told on to my skate edge? (As pointed out by Dick Button!) And just what happened to the spins- years ago some of these skaters would do some beautifully hard spins-very fast. I think spinning doesnt count as much so skaters dont put as much an emphasis on it in their programs. Edited by Liz<3Days, Feb 17 2010, 12:46 AM.

Too bad Patrick Chan had those two little slip-ups. Otherwise, his eloquence, foot work - just everything - AMAZING. It's like he's floating. Weir was good, too. |

Curling is Bocce ball on Ice, the game people play at picnics where you toss the white ball across the yard then each person takes turns throwing their ball to get the closes to the white one. With curling your are trying to get your stone the closest to the center while also trying to knock the other people's stones out of the way. I remember watching it in Italy last Olympics in the morning. They had it on every morning it seemed. My brother and a couple of his friends tried it once after watching and said it was fun. |

Posted Image Lemon Pledge Helps Johnny Weir Keep Nerves in Check Tuesday night in Vancouver, Johnny Weir performed a clean short program. And, he tells PEOPLE, he got ready for his performance by cleaning his hotel suite! "I was nervous last night. So I Pledged [as in Lemon Pledge] everything in my room," he says. "Some people eat, some people drink – but I Pledge everything." Weir's suite-mate at the Olympic Village, U.S. ice dancer and Olympic silver medalist Tanith Belbin, was kind enough to vanish for the day so he could have the apartment to himself. "She is the best roommate – she stayed away all day today so I could run around naked and watch Real Housewives of Atlanta," he adds. "I will do the same for her." His superb skating put him in sixth place among the final group of men who go for the gold Thursday night. Weir's teammate Evan Lysacek skated flawlessly and sits in second behind Russian Evgeni Plushenko, just ahead of third place finisher Daisuke Takahashi of Japan. "I had fun, showed my heart and smiled," Weir says of his Vancouver debut. "I want to show my heart and take fans on a journey – that's my goal here." Did he watch his competition? "I saw one skater out of the corner of my mascara," he says. "I knew a medal was far-fetched for me," he adds of his 82.10 score, but fans should look forward "to a good cat fight along the way." For his long program Weir will skate to "City of Angels" and "Nocturne" from The Lady Caliph, and he says with a wink, "I may get the urge to throw more glitter in my hair." Source: People |

I was rotflmao at all the swearing the boarders and coaches were doing after he won. I was like "did I just hear..." And then the announcers came on and quickly appologized for some of the language and reminded viewers that it was live TV. |
