Pilot Intel: CW develops six new dramas; fate of 'Melrose Place' unknown Heather Locklear can only do so much. With the fate of the struggling drama Melrose Place up in the air (and other CW dramas like The Beautiful Life are now dead and gone), the network has gone back to the drawing board and developed six new dramas for the 2010-11 season. Here are the CW’s fall pilot orders, many of which are still being cast (decisions on which projects will be ordered to series are typically made in the weeks leading up to the CW’s presentation to advertisers, which occurs this May in New York. And remember, the network is out of the half-hour business, thus, no sitcoms): Dramas Betwixt (writer Elizabeth Chandler). Supernatural drama based on novel of same name about creatures who fight evil forces. Untitled Amy Holden Jones. Drama focusing on the freshman class at Harvard Medical School. Hellcats (Kevin Murphy). Action follows competitive college cheerleading. Nikita (Craig Silverstein). An update of La Femme Nikita. The Wyoming Project (Amy Sherman-Palladino, Dan Palladino). Family sudser that takes place on a small midwest ranch. Nomads (Ken Sanzel). Group of free-spirited youths backpacking through other countries agree to perform secret missions for CIA. "The Wyoming Project" sounds OK, if it's actually a "sudser" ... the rest all suck. I could see them trying "Betwixt" with either Vampire Diaries or Smallville in the fall if they pick it up (with Supernatural going behind the other one). They'll probably pick up Hellcats and pair it with America's Next Top Model. That leaves a mid-season slot which would probably go to the Harvard medical freshman drama or the Wyoming Project. I'd be surprised if they pick up Nikita but it's probably between Nikita and Betwixt for the empty slot behind either VD or Smallville. Depends who has the stronger pilot or which would "skew the youngest" |

I'd take Melrose over any of those. |

Thanks. A few could be OK if casted and written well. Considering its the CW, I don't have high hopes. |
