Multiple sources are reporting that anonymous parties in the know at Fox have decided not to renew 24 for a ninth day and that an official announcement could come any day now. Given the comments from NBC’s Angela Bromstad last week indicating that NBC had already been talking about whether to pick up 24 should Fox pass, it doesn’t come as a big surprise that Fox is tipping its hand.

Increasingly high production costs and diminishing ratings are cited as reasons the show will end its run on Fox. Fox’s studio will surely try to shop 24 and a distressed NBC is likely the only network that would give it any serious consideration. Ultimately, I can’t see NBC wanting to pay a high price for a show long in tooth that already isn’t getting great ratings. But you never know.

If not, there’s always the prospect of movies.

Wow! It used to be a great show. But when I watched it last season, it was pretty boring. I mean, it was like.. been there, done that.. I can't imagine how people who watched the show for whole 8 seasons feel.

Seasons 5 and 6 (despite the overrated praise) were total garbage, but they got back on track with day 7, but this current (and unfortunately final) season is the worst of the lot. I couldn't tell you one character or what has happened. It's so boring and stupid. It's a shame the show is going to go out with it's worst season ever.

As boring as it is too. Damn. And they couldn't even map it out as a proper final season. Last season would've been a better end with some fine tuning.

A show can't go on forever. 8 season's is a great run. I don't think NBC should pick it up. I would like to see a movie though.

Stopped watching when they killed Tony and Michelle. Saw a few scenes when Tony came back, which was lame!

Really? I don't know anyone who liked Season 6, LoL.

Season 5 was awesome though, and not overrated in the least (IMO).

I thought Season 5 was amazing. Didn't care for Season 6 and enjoyed last season for the most part. This season has been a bore so far. The only thing I'm enjoying is that the sexy terrorist guy got shirtless this week!! I think this should be the last season and they should do a movie. I have a feeling the format would work really well for an action film.

This is sad but they really should've cut their losses last year.

They could always finish the season as planned and maybe have a series finale in movie form. They've done the TV movie thing before. They could also put together a simple finale and maybe do a major film to serve as the series finale. That would be great.

I think NBC should focus on developing programming before stealing programming that is at the end of the road. if they insist on taking shows from other networks, they need to think cheaper and need to stay away from show's in the twilight of their runs.

I used to love this show, but haven't watched in the past couple years. Oh well, I think they could do well in movies anyway.

While it sucks to lose the show. A show like this can't go on forever. 8 seasons is a long run for a non-procedural drama. I'm one of the biggest 24 fans and suprisingly not upset at all that's it might not come back next year. Like I said before, they better do a movie though.
