Friday's episode was great and I actually cared about every scene, even the Safe scenes. DAYS has been so boring lately and sometimes I hate when episodes like Friday are so good because it makes me wonder why can't most episodes be this good. All the character interactions really helped, why doesn't DAYS do this more often?

The music in the Safe scenes actually enhanced them, instead of taking away from them. I think Ali has done well the last month or so, I can't pinpoint why I see a change in her acting recently, but her acting hasn't annoyed me the last month or so.

Kate/Vivian: Loved, loved their scenes! LK plays anger so well and LS is just so good at playing someone like Vivian. More please.

Maggie/Victor: See what happens DAYS when ya put different characters in scenes, I want more like the ones we got today between Maggie/Victor.

EJ/Nicole: AZ owned in the scenes, she really is one of DAYS best actresses.

An actual Friday cliffhanger and one I don't think anyone could see coming. Can't wait to see the Anna/Stefano scenes on Monday.

The thing I liked best about the cliffhanger was that we didn't see Stefano during the entire episode till the last scene. That really added to the surprise. Loved it.

It's been a period of time on Days for this long time viewer when very little holds my interest. Not a single couple together that I would root for, Vivian and Carly are not what they once were and Sami isn't the Sami that we loved to hate either. There is a bright spot though and that is the babies that play Sydney. I guess the only thing that I really care about right now is that Sami doesn't end up with Rafe, but don't think that will happen either. Although, Friday was pretty good. Rant over.

I completely agree that the twins playing Sydney are a major bright spot on the show...and right there with you on hoping the writers save Sami from the suck fest of Safe.

Finally got to Friday's show.
Best part was Nicole...and EJ. Nicole owned EJ. EJ looked like utter shit, but when he gave that look to Kinsey, the hotness came out. The talking over each other was electric, and I can't think of two actors who have better chemistry with each other. Great scene's all around!
Sydole broke my heart. Sydney's little pout and the mama...I almost got teary. Sigh! I hope the Sydole story isn't over yet. Hurry back, Dr. Baker.

Still loving how Rafe is holding his own against Sami. Sami was just on desperate mode today...disgusting, but definitely a trait of oldSami. I think that is what she meant when she said that the "old Sami" was back. Man chasing.
GG did good today. He's getting better.

Victor and Maggie laughing made me want to ship them...Maggie ain't a fool and could handle Victor, but not sure how it would work. Vivian and Victor make me laugh though.

MB is the worst kisser for a daytime soap. She reminds me of FT who just couldn't relax when it came to the sexy scenes.

LMAO at the ending. Kind of freaked me out...it's been awhile since Stefano freaked me out.

Alligato, just when you mentioned MB and her kissing...I remembered that too! I thought it was fish kissing and yet another reason to hate Phil with her!

I'm just glad we're getting Phil to interact with Chloe more and always like JKJ playing with the adults like LS!

^Well, when you see PHillip and Stephanie kiss, its xrated, and even Phillip and Chloe were borderline porn - and none of them were married. And then you get Phillip and Melanie married and all they do is fishy kiss.
I don't buy them as being hot for each other or a decent couple because of their lack of sexiness.
So yes, another reason to hate Phelony.

i find it rather peculiar that Stefano was able to find Anna with practically no problem at all, but couldn't figure out who the kidnapper was and who the accomplice was/is......just blows my mind haha

....not sure what's being tested between Victor and Maggie, but I can't say that I liked it. I just can't see Maggie ever falling for someone like Victor. It sucks that they put the nail in the coffin between Victor and Caroline when they had Caroline finally tell Victor that there will never be anything between them. I would much rather see Victor and Caroline share tender moments than Victor and Maggie. It just doesn't make any sense.
I agree that it seems odd. Maggie has been a widow for about 6 Salem Days (OK, 2.5 months in our lives). Victor has been behaving like a crazy old man for the better part of a year. It wasn't that long ago that he was snapping at her as the "staff" at Chez Rouge.

Phasing out Caroline-Victor was probably necessitated by Peggy McCay. She's pushing 80 and it showed several times last year. She seemed better the last time she appeared, but she hasn't morphed into The DOOL Matriarch.

Not every male-female couple needs to be a romance. (I know some of you folks don't believe that.) No need for romance. Maggie and Victor were Melaswen-ed together. They have been at the same charity functions for 2+ decades. He has dined at her various restaurants for just as long. It's nice that Maggie is being written as anything but a wallflower, too.

I imagine that Victor will play a role in her health issue. Victor will find some super-doc to help her. Or help her come out from "hiding" this illness. So far, I think only Philip, StMelanie, and Daniel are aware that her MG has returned. And of course, Viv could mis-interpret something and turn her venom on The Widow Horton. And Viv always needs a new target.

And frankly, having Suzanne and John on-screen so much has been delightful.

Also, I am all for new interactions. The show has been really good the past six months, but we also have fallen into teh same old familiar daytime pattern where the same people have the same scenes with the same others week after week after week.

Those twins are better actors than many on this show. Sydney was perfect today!
I am going to rain on the "Sydney is a great actress" parade. The real star here is the editing department. Let's be honest, they film the twins in random closeups and elicit reactions. Then it's the editors who plug in the appropriate Syd-action. ("Hey, we need a bemused reaction, cue up Clip #4532.")

Yes, in those extremely rare 1-1 scenes with Nicole, EJ, Stefano, and Anna all holding Sydney, there can be some charm, but usually the twins are just deadweight. It's the interstitial reaction shots that has sent all the mothers on this board into Baby Nirvana.

The editors sell it well.

I agree that they make good use of editing random shots of the babies in, but I disagree that they are dead weight when they are in scenes with the other actors. I think the casting department hit the jackpot with those little ones - the fact they are so low key and cuddly on screen is impressive. You rarely see them fuss or squirm, they are nearly always content to play with whatever toy they've been given but they do look up and pay attention to the other actors in the scene - particularly if they are being held by one and another is in the scene with them.

Yeah, I agree, though I'd substitute "EJ" for "Rafe" in your last sentence, though I do think she will end up with Rafe. My first choice would be Sami packing up to go meet Shelle on their trip of indefinite and hopefully infinite duration. My problem is there is no couple or potential couple on the show right now in which I have any interest and/or in whom I believe there is even an attraction between the two characters. I am mildly interested in Victor and Vivian but I am so sick of Vivian having to be obsessed with Carly--let her play with the other characters! I'm sort of crossing my fingers for Philip and Chloe but having been disappointed before by their story not panning out when it looked like it was going to (summer of '08), I'm not getting my hopes up. I'll just settle for whatever ends Danloe and Phelanie as fast as humanly possible. I love Nicole but her return has been muddy for me.

The only show I watched all week was Thursday's, though I do want to watch Friday's. I can only tolerate JS with AZ so those scenes sound good and I'm always a sucker for Sydole; regardless of whether it's simply a true closure scene or an anvil, I don't mind either way.

The primary reason I've lost so much interest in the show is the incessant Melanie frontburnering. It just finally wore me out.

Live. Love. Laugh. ♥

The promo for the Nicole/Sami fight was mediocre at best, but the real thing wasn't so bad, IMO. I loved seeing them bash each other's faces up ... I'm totally Team Nicole. I like her better as a character, even though both her and Sami are guilty. The music throughout that scene was lame though.

I also agree with you about EJ. I don't necessarily want Sami off the show, I would just rather see her on her own, putting the kids first (which will never happen) and getting a job. You are also right about Melanie. Too much. Thinking back, that is how I felt about Sami some 16-17 years ago. But this time, I don't think Melanie will ever grow on me - not as a constantly front burner role. Maybe if she was in the right age bracket. Phillip is being wasted.
