Another cancellation snub for ATWT; Daytime Emmys, Paley Center - no tribute plans

We all know, by now, that the Daytime Emmys plan to do a tribute to AMC for their 40th anniversary rather han give a final salute to ATWT's 54 year broadcast history.

Well, there may be yet another cancellation snub. Yesterday, I renewed my membership to the Paley Center, NYC (formerly known as the Museum of Television & Radio). Over the years, I have attended such special events as: A Preview of the Premiere episode of 'Twin Peaks,' 20 years ago, a 50th anniversary tribute to ATWT in 2006, an evening with Robert Vaughn (Napolean Solo - The Man from U.N.C.L.E.) and most recently a final salute tribute to GL last August.

When renewing my membership, I asked if there were similar plans to have an event for ATWT. I was met with dead silence, and was told to write and suggest such an event with the VP of Public Affairs and Programs, Diane Lewis. You can be sure that I did just that...I was given her e-mail address.

I can not fathom the idea of ATWT going out with a wimper...no Emmy tribute and now no Paley Center tribute. GMAB, it's been more than 4 months since the cancellation announcement and nothing has been planned.

I am absolutely livid. I urge everyone to write and call the Paley Center in NYC.

I posted about this a while back and it was said that the Emmys don't want to do a tribute to ATWT because it would take away from their tribute to AMC.

Make of that what you will.

Either Goutman really pissed someone off or P&G is truly done with the show even though it's not over yet.

I received my renewed membership card for the Paley Center in today's mail. I will be keeping a close eye on whether or not they schedule a farewell tribute. If not, they'll be hearing from me...I'll keep you all informed.

Les Moonves is a freaking PRICK with no respect for the genre or for the history of daytime television. He is simply trying to get publicity for his boring wife, Julie Chen and that stupid talk show that he's developing. I am sure that it will last six months---at the most!! America doesn't need any more game shows or talk shows!! They need more soaps!!! Moonves doesn't give a damn, though. He only sees dollar signs and more dollar signs. He doesn't care about tradition or the little old ladies at home who are gonna be devastated when ATWT ends in September. Hell, I ain't no little old lady, but count me as a part of that demographic that will be crushed when it leaves the airwaves. There's a special place in hell for men like Moonves!!!!

Well said, I, too, am not part of the desired demographic, as I explained to the Dutch TV camera crew that interviewed me outside the CBS Broadcast Center on Friday, April 16 where we staged a 'Save Our Soaps' protest Rally.
I may not be a blue haired little old lady, but it is unthinkable that a network can throw out 126 years of broadcast history away within a year's time, and have it's full-of-himself CEO, Les Moonves, smiling from ear to ear.
And, unfortunately, since he is in that position, no matter how bad his precious wife's show is, he will do everything in his power to save it...move its time slot etc...I am devastated at the loss of ATWT. I was born three weeks after its debut, and have, literally, grown up with the show.
