I love doing this! Thanks for bringing it back, juniorz!

Outstanding Drama Series

DAYS OF OUR LIVES
GENERAL HOSPITAL
ONE LIFE TO LIVE

*I'm going with 3 nominees because that is likely what we will get now. Anyway, OLTL rocked most of last year. GH improved slowly over the year and I feel it did enough to warrant a nod (probably has done enough this year for a win next year). Days did plenty last year so it's deserving.

Outstanding Writing in a Daytime Drama

THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL
DAYS OF OUR LIVES
ONE LIFE TO LIVE

*Again, 3 nominees for the same reason as above although I suspect we may get 4 for the real Emmy's. I just think best show, writing, and directing should have the same amount. Anyway, B&B had Ann's death so I substituted that in GH's place but GH has the best dialogue in daytime so it was hard not to put them there but it's not just about dialogue. OLTL was fantastic last year and it's scripts improved more and more. Days was great for most of the year.

Outstanding Directing in a Daytime Drama

AS THE WORLD TURNS
GENERAL HOSPITAL
ONE LIFE TO LIVE

*I almost went with Days here too but, as good as they did under the circumstances, I felt these three were far more deserving and it really should be GH in a rout. The Carnival trumps anything OLTL or ATWT put out. OLTL does more with less but sometimes it's a bit too choppy and all over the place. When it's bad, it's really bad. When it's good, it's really good. GH is consistently good.

Outstanding Lead Actor:

DAVID CANARY, as Adam & Stuart Chandler, AMC
VINCENT IRIZARRY, as Dr. David Hayward, AMC
JOHN ANISTON, as Victor Kiriakis, Days
JAMES SCOTT, as EJ DiMera, Days
MAURICE BENARD, as Sonny Corinthos, GH

*MB was great in the final 4 months of last year, particularly from Claudia's comeuppance and on. JA doesn't deserve it but I'm thinking along the lines of giving him a nod for all his years of great performances. JS was great in enough spots last year to warrant a nod, particularly when he learned about Nicole and that Sydney was his. DC had some classic moments last year and, like JA, he deserves a special nod but this time to celebrate his career. VI is just great and had some shining acting moments, as always, last year.

Outstanding Lead Actress:

TERRI COLOMBINO, as Katie Snyder, ATWT
SUSAN FLANNERY, as Stephanie Forrester, B&B
ALISON SWEENEY, as Samantha (Sami) Brady, Days
SARAH BROWN, as Claudia Zacchara Corinthos, GH
CRYSTAL CHAPPELL, as Olivia Spencer, GL
MICHELLE STAFFORD, as Phyllis Newman, Y&R

*I went with 6 here because I couldn't decide between MS and TC. TC was fantastic during Brad's death. MS was brilliant in the early part of the year before the Phyllis/Nick/Sharon stuff fell apart. CC had what was IMO her best moment when she admitted her love to Natalia. SF was great during Ann's death. And AS had a performance on the level of her Vegas wedding performance only this one was far more poignant and raw.

Outstanding Supporting Actor:

JACOB YOUNG, as JR Chandler, AMC
JOSEPH MASCOLO, as Stefano DiMera, Days
BRIAN KERWIN, as Charlie Banks, OLTL
BRETT CLAYWELL, as Kyle Lewis, OLTL
GREG RIKAART, as Kevin Fisher, Y&R

*GR was BRILLIANT during Kevin's breakdown early in 2009. BC and BK were great last year during the peak of the Kish story and Charlie losing Jared. JM had some of, if not his best, emotionally layered performances ever as Stefano. JY was great as JR battled cancer. I would've put JJ here but he didn't do anything in 2009. He didn't even arrive until late October.

Outstanding Supporting Actress:

MELISSA CLAIRE EGAN, as Annie Chandler, AMC
ARIANNE ZUCKER, as Nicole Walker, Days
REBECCA HERBST, as Elizabeth Webber, GH
ILENE KRISTEN, as Roxanne Balsom, OLTL
STACY HAIDUK, as Patty Williams & Dr. Emily Peterson, Y&R

*SH was the only redeeming quality of the Patty nonsense and she was fantastic. IK, the ultimate supporting player, had some shining moments last year as Rex turned on her following her covering up Stacy's lie and as she revealed Mitch was Rex's father. RH did a fine job as Liz turned to Nikolas and struggled with her actions. MCE had another strong year. AZ perhaps has more material then any of these women to choose from and 2009 was her coming out party.

Outstanding Younger Actress:

MOLLY BURNETT, as Melanie Layton, Days
SHELLEY HENNIG, as Stephanie Johnson, Days
JULIE BERMAN, as Lulu Spencer, GH
KIRSTEN STORMS, as Maxie Jones, GH
EMILY O達RIEN, as Jana Fisher, Y&R

EOB had some great moments last year and in a scarce category, she deserves to be nominated. JB and KS each had some great moments last year. SH did great work during Philip's shooting. MB had some shining moments too, most of which resulted from her charisma and personality but there isn't really anyone else deserving so she takes a spot by default, not that she doesn't have her positives as an actress. She obviously has alot of negatives LOL.

Outstanding Younger Actor:

CASEY DEIDRICK, as Chad Woods, Days
DYLAN PATTON, as Will Horton, Days
DREW GARRETT, as Michael Corinthos, Jr., GH
SCOTT CLIFTON, as Schuyler Joplin, OLTL
KEVIN SCHMIDT, as Noah Newman, Y&R

Again, a very scarce category and some make it by default because no one else is good enough LOL. KS is one of them. He didn't do much but he has enough to squeeze out a nod. Same goes for DP, who I felt did a fine job as Will (particularly during Grace's death from which he has material to submit) until around mid-summer. CD had some great moments as Chad and is deserving of a nod IMO. There was one scene, in particular, in which he talked about Grace after learning she was his and she had died. He was great in that scene. That was definitely one of his highlights. The two best in this category though are DG and SC, both of which have so much material to submit and had shining moment after shining moment.

Also, it's so funny that Drew is the only one with no Ari Zucker in his nomination list. What are the odds of only one person straying from the pack? I've never seen that happen in these things.

Punk Cabaret is Freedom

I'm not the best judge because I only regularly keep up with GH and Days (to an extent), but I'll give it a shot! Most of what I'm going for with soaps I don't watch is based on what I've heard from those who do.

Yayyyy! More, more, more! I'm purposely not counting yet because it was a mistake I made last time. I gave hints out to who was doing well & who was on the bubble & it swayed votes I think. Not gonna happen this time. I want this Dream Ballot to truly represent what we as a community here at Daytime Royalty think the nominees should be.

I am also doing this on SON & I'm really curious to see how the ballots differ between the two boards.

Anyway, I'm glad I have the time right now to do this because it's reminding me how much fun it was the last time!!!

Keep the ballots coming you guys!

Had to keep my picks limited to shows/people, that I'm most familiar with. So forewarned, some of my choices are going to look a bit wonky.

Outstanding Drama Series

DAYS OF OUR LIVES
GENERAL HOSPITAL
GUIDING LIGHT

I put GL in for sentimentality reasons, but I think they blew their shot, by submitting the Finale episode versus something from The Runaway Bride sequence in the Otalia SL. I'm hoping Days pulls this one out.

Outstanding Writing in a Daytime Drama

DAYS OF OUR LIVES
GENERAL HOSPITAL
GUIDING LIGHT

Same opinion here as above. This should so have been GL's, but they blew it, so hope Days gets it.

Outstanding Directing in a Daytime Drama

DAYS OF OUR LIVES
GENERAL HOSPITAL
GUIDING LIGHT

And copy and paste my opinion for Best Series and Writing here too.

Outstanding Lead Actor Pre-Nominees:

ALL MY CHILDREN, ABC
VINCENT IRIZARRY, as Dr. David Hayward

AS THE WORLD TURNS, CBS
MICHAEL PARK, as Jack Snyder

DAYS OF OUR LIVES, NBC
JAMES SCOTT, as EJ DiMera

GENERAL HOSPITAL, ABC
MAURICE BENARD, as Sonny Corinthos

ONE LIFE TO LIVE, ABC
ROBERT S. WOODS, as Bo Buchanan

Gotta go with MB. That guy was just riveting during that whole confrontation sequence with Claudia.

Outstanding Lead Actress Pre-Nominees:

AS THE WORLD TURNS, CBS
MAURA WEST, as Carly Tenney

THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL, CBS
SUSAN FLANNERY, as Stephanie Forrester

GENERAL HOSPITAL, ABC
SARAH BROWN, as Claudia Zacchara Corinthos

GUIDING LIGHT, CBS
CRYSTAL CHAPPELL, as Olivia Spencer

ONE LIFE TO LIVE, ABC
HILLARY SMITH, as Nora Buchanan

As incredibly talented as all these women are, this is CC's year. She was in the zone throughout the entire Otalia storyline and the grave yard scene is way too memorable not to get the nod for her. I don't by any means think it's a lock. That she's not a scenery chewer could definitely work against her. Seems like some enjoy the more "Look at me... I'm... AC...TING" style versus CC's more subtle brand of acting. So fingers crossed for her.

Outstanding Supporting Actor Pre-Nominees:

ALL MY CHILDREN, ABC
RICKY PAULL GOLDIN, as Jake Martin

DAYS OF OUR LIVES, NBC
SHAWN CHRISTIAN, as Dr. Daniel Jonas
JOSEPH MASCOLO, as Stefano DiMera

GUIDING LIGHT, CBS
JEFF BRANSON, as Shayne Lewis

I would really love to see JM win this. He's just consistently brilliant day in, day out and that's not an easy task with Days' writing.

Outstanding Supporting Actress Pre-Nominees:

THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL, CBS
BETTY WHITE, as Ann Douglas

DAYS OF OUR LIVES, NBC
ARIANNE ZUCKER, as Nicole Walker

GENERAL HOSPITAL, ABC
CAROLYN HENNESY, as Diane Miller

GUIDING LIGHT, CBS
BETH CHAMBERLIN, as Beth Raines Spaulding
TINA SLOAN, as Lillian Raines

Wish Jessica Leccia was a possibility in this category, because she would have been my GL nomination over Tina. She's not the powerhouse on screen that CC is, but CC wasn't acting alone during all that brilliance that was Otalia and JL should have gotten some recognition for that. That said, AZ should probably win this category, but I'm going with Betty White for the win, because of the sentimentality factor.

Outstanding Younger Actress Pre-Nominees:

DAYS OF OUR LIVES, NBC
MOLLY BURNETT, as Melanie Layton
SHELLEY HENNIG, as Stephanie Johnson

GENERAL HOSPITAL, ABC
JULIE BERMAN, as Lulu Spencer
KIRSTEN STORMS, as Maxie Jones

I think JB's going to repeat.

Outstanding Younger Actor Pre-Nominees:

DAYS OF OUR LIVES, NBC
CASEY DEIDRICK, as Chad Woods

GENERAL HOSPITAL, ABC
DREW GARRETT, as Michael Corinthos, Jr.
NATHAN PARSONS, as Ethan Lovett

GUIDING LIGHT, CBS
ZACK CONROY, as James Spaulding

DG should walk away with this one.

Ok guys, I did an early tally to make tomorrow easier on me. Here's some fun facts for ya.

---Drama Series has 4 clear leaders, with two other shows close enough to sneak in still

---Writing has 3 clear leaders, with 3 shows in a tight battle for the 4th slot

---Directing has 3 clear leaders, with two shows neck & neck for the 4th slot

---Lead Actor has 2 clear leaders, 3 actors with solid showings, 2 actors that are still major threats, and 2 others that could sneak in

---Lead Actress has 4 actresses that are neck & neck for the top spot, and 3 actresses battling for the 5th slot. The top 4 are pretty solid though.

---Supporting Actor has 3 clear leaders, the other 2 slots are totally up in the air. 2 actors have the strongest chance at getting those 2 slots, but there are 5 actors who could EASILY upset. This category is completely up in the air, probably because it's the weakest IMO.

---Supporting Actress has 2 clear leaders, a 3rd actress with a very strong showing, 2 actresses tied for the 4th & 5th slot, and 3 actresses that are still very much in the game. There's even 2 more that can upset, but it's really between the top 8.

---Younger Actor has a very clear leader, and 4 others that look pretty solid. However, there are two actors that are coming on strong late in the game & could sneak in.

---Younger Actress has 4 actresses leading, and 3 actresses tied for the 5th slot. There are even 2 that are right behind them. This is a very close & tough category, though I think it has more to do with lack of talent than talent.

I will tell you that the highest vote-getter overall is a tie between Drew Garrett (ex-Michael, GH) and Arianne Zuker (Nicole, DAYS). Runners Up are Days of our Lives (not telling which category), General Hospital (also not telling), and Kirsten Storms (Maxie, GH).

The BIGGEST surprise to me is that Crystal Chappell is NOT leading in the Lead Actress category, even though she is the frontrunner for the prize. In fact, shockingly, she's not even in the top 3.

Feel free to speculate or count em up for yourself.

In the meantime, we NEED MORE BALLOTS. These final posts WILL decide the outcome of
The First Annual Daytime Royalty Dream Ballot.

FYI: The maximum amount of nominees that will be in each category is 6. If there is more than a 2-way tie for the 5th slot, then there will only be 4 nominees. I encourage you guys to PM some of your friends that haven't filled one out because at the moment, it's an issue in at least 2, maybe 3 acting categories. I'd hate to have only 4 nominees in multiple categories. Just a few more ballots would make all the difference!
