I understand what he means, though he and/or TVGuide could have worded it differently. Some (OF COURSE NOT ALL) Arabs hate Jews because of political differences over Israel. If you asked me would I like to live openly as a Jew basically locked in the same house for 3 months with someone who hates Jews, of course I'd say no. It would be uncomfortable at best and scary at worst. Who knows how TVGuide worded their question to him, or what his full answer was? Notice they put the first part of the sentence in their own words and didn't quote him till the last phrase. And, the point of these articles is to stir things up. But I just want to explain the "political" part of it, because sadly, unlike politics in America which is just sort of a point of discussion, Israeli/Arab politics is an entirely different ballgame.
There is 2000 years of history there, political and religious. I want to make sure I word this corrrectly and Ellie, please corrrect me if I am wrong. There have been wars going on between the Jewish people and Arabs for centuries. Suicide bombers in Jerusalem which is a divided city. Crusades. If I was Arab or Jewish, I would not want to live in that house if i was brought up strictly in my religion. Some things are too important.

America is lucky in the fact that we are a young country without some of the deep rooted history that goes back 2000 plus years.

Well, if that's the way it is for Andrew then he shouldn't have applied to be on the show and let someone else have the chance. IMO it's too bad they didn't put in an Arab person just to force him to confront whatever issues he has. Because it IS an issue.

Not all Arabs are even Muslim, so it's a race problem, not a religious one. And from a political standpoint, Israel is politically aligned with some Arab countries (and the Crusades weren't about Jews and Muslims fighting, but Christians and Muslims) even if some in the Arab populace do become suicide bombers.

I just don't get how someone apparently so educated like Andrew could say something so ignorant, no matter what kind of statement Michael Logan goaded him into. I will try to give Andrew the benefit of the doubt that he was somehow misquoted or led on (because I did notice Logan didn't know how to spell Renny from BB10's name properly) but I am very skeptical at this point.

^^ I understand what you're saying, but that's just too big a leap for me to make. Someone says, "I would have a problem with it politically", and that makes him a racist, when there are longstanding political issues?? Let's even say that TV Guide's question was, "As a Jew, would you have a problem living with an Arab?" Should he have said, "Well, I'm sure you only mean the group of Arabs that have issues with Jews, right?" Of course that's what they mean - that's why they're asking! And if he did give that whole qualifying phrase, they'd never print it.

As for whether it means he should or shouldn't be in the BB house, if there is a group of people he can't live with, for whatever reason - it probably means he should be there lol. I mean, that's kind of the point of the show. I watched BB8 last year, and I remember Jameka kept talking about how she's never been with so many white people before. If she said that in one of her casting interviews, I'm sure they were like, "Perfect!"

I bet they'll let the mole choose between taking the 50K and leaving the house at week five or forfeiting the 50K and staying in the house to try and win the grand prize. If the mole leaves, a previous evictee will be brought back. That's my prediction. :)
Sounds like you're right!! Wonder who they've determined "can keep their mouth shut" lol. None of the HGs realy strike me as that type so far.

Won't we basically figure out on the feeds who the saboteur is? They can't really keep it hidden on there for 7 days ....

I agree with that.

I'm not sure I agree with all of his views, but there's no denying that Andrew will be very interesting to watch this summer and it'll be interesting to see how he interacts with the rest of the cast.

That depends on when they start having the saboteur act out tasks.

Agree Kenny - whatever people think of his views, I think it will be fascinating to see both how he explains his beliefs to the houseguests and how they react to him.

I keep thinking about the saboteur - so they must not have given the HG (whoever it is) a choice, because once they find out about it, that ruins it as they'd know before everyone else. I think you're right that it probably was the one who quit.

'Big Brother 12': Kevin Campbell is Zap2it's 'Big Brother' blogger!

By Andrea Reiher | July 7, 2010 9:00 AM ET

Remember Kevin Campbell, the wise-cracking graphic designer from the "off-beat" clique in "Big Brother 11?" He's back in 2010 to blog about "Big Brother 12" for Zap2it!

From Kevin:

Hay Bizznatchesss!!! It's Kevin from "Big Brother 11" and I'm tinkle-pants excited and honored to be working with Zap2it.com as the "expert" blogger on this season of "Big Brother!" I can't wait to dish dirt about this season's houseguests, gossip about rumors, and shake-my-damn-head at failed strategies. As a past player of the game, I'll do a little armchair quarterbacking, and also share a little insight on what may be swirling around the houseguests' minds. But overall, I'll just have fun with you as we gab and giggle about our favorite summer guilty pleasure.

The first episode hasn't even aired yet and there is already drama surrounding the premiere, from the rumors of a 14th houseguest quitting before move-in day, to the twist of including a snakey saboteur that will act as America's puppet "wreaking havoc on the house" at the will of the voting audience. My pants are already on fire for the first episode to air July 8th, as well as my first blog entry here on Zap2it! Also, I'm very excited to announce that this summer I'm working with Lydia from "Big Brother 11" on interviewing Big Brother alumni and other reality stars on our new webshow at www.poptalkwebshow.com! We're working on interviewing evicted houseguests this season, so I'll make sure to share any nuggets I learn here on Zap2it.com and on poptalkwebshow.com!

So will I see you here next week? Fabulous! BTW, what are your thoughts on this year's cast based on the released bios and interviews? Gorgeous right? This has to be the SECOND sexiest cast ever! (Obviously "Big Brother 11" was the sexiest. Wink!) I know it's tough to predict winners and wieners, and from the interviews I've seen on the web and here on Zap2it it seems like a really competitive, diverse cast. Can't wait to see who is going to "showmance" it up and who is going to throw down in the first fight of the season. Any wagers? HA! BUT, until the live feeds run and the first episode begins, I'll be seeing you here regularly at Zap2it! Make sure to tweet me any questions/comments at @kcampbellicious and watch Lydia and me interview your favorite reality stars at www.poptalkwebshow.com!

*HUGS*

One of the first things my daughter said to me today was that 'Big Brother' starts tomorrow (she's 7). I can't wait! It really is time consuming though.

'Big Brother 12's' Monet: 'You play too hard, too soon, you get kicked out'

By Andrea Reiher | July 7, 2010 2:40 PM ET

Meet Monet Stunson, a 24-year-old model from Glen Carbon, IL who is one of the newest "Big Brother 12" contestants. She talks to Zap2it about why she thinks she'll be good at "Big Brother" and what her strategy is going into the house.

"I always thought, 'Wow, that's something I would be really good at,'" Monet says, in reference to why she wanted to be on "Big Brother." "I would be good at the manipulation and getting other people to do what I want."

So how is she going to go about getting people to do what she wants? What is her strategy for the game?

"Initially I plan on just going into the house and kind of getting a feel for the other house guests," says Monet. "I feel like if you go in guns blazing and you play too hard, too soon, you get kicked out. But at the same time you don't want to wait too long to form an alliance because then you're kind of left out in the cold and you're kind of a loner and people don't know where you stand, so that puts a target on your back as well."

"Big Brother 12" premieres July 8 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.

'Big Brother 12's' Kristen's strategy is to be 'the fun, outgoing, likable girl'

By Andrea Reiher | July 6, 2010 7:28 PM ET

Meet Kristen Bitting, a 24-year-old shoe boutique manager from Philadelphia. She tells Zap2it that she has "what it takes to make it all the way."

As far as Kristen's strategy goes, she tells us, "My somewhat set strategy is to go in with the purpose of being the fun, outgoing, likable girl and then when things start to get a little more tough ... then I plan to project more of my ultimate purpose of being there, making it known and my strength and determination will shine."

She hasn't been as fervent a "Big Brother" fan as some of the other contestants we've interviewed. "I'm not a big TV watcher as a whole ... I haven't followed it all the way through."

But she does like Jeff from last season because "he plays the game a lot like how I think I'm going to go into the game," Kristen tells us.

She also is not a fan of "really obnoxious, loud people" and "insecure people who are not as strong, not as smart, not as this, not as that as either I or other people are in the house."

"Big Brother 12" premieres Thursday, July 8 on CBS.
