Soaps In Depth was wrong last year, and a lot of their predictions this year make no sense. I really hope they end up eating crow. First of all, Colleen's death scenes were wonderfully written and produced, but GH's carnival episode was produced almost MASTERFULLY, and was also well-written. I will be happy to see either show win, though. Peter Bergman deserves to win for Best Actor??? On what planet??? He has become one of the ULTIMATE Emmy hogs, and like GH's Anthony Geary, who always manages to finagle his way into the category each year, he needs to take his name OUT of the hat PERMANENTLY. Enough is enough. :puke: This deserves to be Michael Park's Emmy. I don't necessarily think that Stacy Haiduk deserved an Emmy for a lot of that scenery chewing, yelling and screaming. Patty/Emily have BOTH been written terribly. 90% histrionics, and not the good kind. However, she DEFINITELY deserved to be nominated over Michelle Stafford (a.k.a, ANOTHER Emmy hog who needs to take her name out of the hat permanently!! Tired of his chick also! :puke: ). I agree that Maura West deserves to win for her alcoholism storyline, but wouldn't be disappointed to see Crystal Chappell take it also. Bradford Anderson, whom I LOVE, is unlikely to win for GH. He does mostly comedy, and the Emmys don't usually reward comedy. Ditto for Carolyn Hennesy, who I also love. I believe that Billy Miller and Beth Chamberlin will take these categories, but I would also love to see Julie Pinson win for Supporting. If an actor has to win other than Billy Miller, I do hope it's Bradford. He does deserve an Emmy. Scott Clifton deserving over Drew Garrett?? Who writes this garbage??? Drew's reel is kinda underwhelming, though. I wish he'd submitted stronger material. However, reels aside, Drew gave FAR better performances throughout 2009/2010 than Clifton did. Does anyone remember those scenes when he was holding Gigi and Rex hostage?? Exactly. Hideous acting. He should have been disqualified for those scenes alone. :puke: I think that Christel Khalil might pull an upset in Younger Actress. I saw her reel, and it was pretty good. I do agree, though, that Julie will probably pull a two-peat.I love Julie, and feel that it will be either Christel or Julie. Outstanding Writing--- Agreed...........Y&R shall win this, although I don't feel they deserve an Emmy for Best Writing. Anyone still having nightmares about all those damned dopplegangers running around town??? :puke: Edited by alstonboy4315, Jun 10 2010, 08:50 AM.

WTF is an emmy hog supposed to be? If one has the material that they and their peers deem emmy worthy then they will get nominated. Simple as that. Why should MS have to withdraw her name just so SH or any other actress can get nominated? Personally, I think SH should have put herself in the supporting category since the Lead category is stacked every year. However, we all know she will be nominated next year, when she will be able to nominate her outstanding material that she couldn't submit this year. Y&R being nominated for Outstanding Writing Team is a joke. MAB and her team of hacks don't deserve ANY kind of recognition for their GARBAGE writing. It is appalling that they even got nominated and it's even more appalling that they will probably win. What a joke! |

I'm not as adamant as you, but I don't see an Emmy hog either. I feel like that any actor no matter what if they have the material and are on should be submitted. That was one thing Steve and I agreed on was that the system should be changed to where everyone submits their name and are considered. If at the end of the day the person doesn't want to go and accept it (i.e. Marlon Brando and George C. Scott at the Oscars) so be it. how can you consider it being the best if all the contenders are not even in consideration. I mean it is bad enough when now they just pick a few scenes here and there, but then you get down to this one or that one wasn't even considered. So you end up with an award that is the Best Actor in among those in contention and with the scenes submitted -- not the Best Actor or Actress of the year. Just makes the awards even more of a joke when you start eliminating people. It's like saying Meryl Streep has enough Oscar nominations so she should never be nominated anymore even when she is good. If I was up for an award I would hate to know I only won because the better contenders didn't even submit themselves. |

I just really don't want to see Michelle Stafford OR Peter Bergman win any more Emmys. That is my PERSONAL opinion, and doesn't reflect their levels of talent or acting skills. I find them both to be WONDERFUL actors. I realize that the Emmys are SUPPOSED to be about honoring "the best," and they are among "the best," but I find their yearly presence on the Emmy ballots to be tiresome. Would love to see some NEW names who are EQUALLY as deserving get a shot at the trophies!!!!I get bored (and a little pissed off!) seeing the SAME names emerge year after year. The wonderful thing about the Emmys, over the past few years, has been the variety. I wish there had been MORE variety in the Lead Actor and Actress categories. A LOT of deserving actors were overlooked. And Stacy Haiduk was pre-nommed in the Supporting Actress category, not Lead. The Oscars are different for me, however, because I love Meryl Streep so much that I would almost be OFFENDED if she weren't nominated each year. LOL!! Yeah, I know I am weird, but...........that's how I feel. And I agree, Gilbert, only allowing them to submit ONE episode is the biggest load of bullshit that I can fathom when it comes to the Daytime Emmys. And whoever wins, most of the time, wins by default, because RARELY do they have a Lead Actor or Actress list that TRULY has NOTHING but deserving actors on it. I have never seen that happen with the Daytime Emmys. There are always a few "clunkers" mixed in. Just like the Outstanding Talk Show Host category..... Whoever wins that wins by DEFAULT.....since Oprah Winfrey stopped competing in the category, whoever wins is automatically #2!!!!!!!!! And, yeah, I am talking about Ellen also, even though I love her. She's not in the same league as Oprah Winfrey. I am rambling. LOL!! Well, thanks for chiming in, guys........ Oh I agree about seeing the same old names, but again that is the nature of awards. My favorite awards are the Country Music Awards and they have the same people it seems nominated year end and year out. And I have heard so many on the interview circuit say there that alot of it comes down to who is liked and who is not. I remember one of my favorite singers Ricky Van Shelton say that he never got nominated because he didn't play the political backstage game. Another of my favorites Conway Twitty who until a few years ago had the most #1 hits ever in country music never got nominated for awards. It was always said peole were jeolous of his success. There are so many factors in the awards. I just hate seeing anything that limits or throws any more factors in there for people to deal with. |

Yeah, Gilbert..... I agree. I really can't stand the Daytime Emmys. The only reason why I even watch is to see/support the soaps and the stars that help make them so wonderful. I doubt that TPIC will EVER get it right, but I have learned to just watch and accept the flaws and the bullshit that goes along with it. I just hope that my favorite actors win this year!!!!!!! I am not a fan of country music..........(sorry!! LOL!!! ;) ) |

No problemo. Hey if we all liked the same things and the same people the world would be mighty boring. LOL I am very eclectic in my music. I like all kinds even a little opera -- no sopranos ever. But I do love Pavoratti and a few others. Those sopranos that get so high just hurt my ears. |

Oh right, I thought she submitted in the lead category my bad. Look at it this way. MS was up against JC and SC; they are both good actresses BUT their material was not as great, especially JC's. Had SH submitted in the LEAD category and MS got the nomination over her then we would have something to debate about, because there is no question, 2009 and early 2010 was SH's year(s) but since MS was not up against SH, I had no doubt in my mind that MS would get the nomination again this year. I think it's because of the cast. MS gets nominated every year because she has NO competition at Y&R. Mind you, that's not the only reason, she's a great actress, but when she's up against the same lackluster people every year, there's no question, she'll get nominated every time. Until Y&R gets some new leading ladies, MS will continue to get nominated because personally speaking, she has no competition. MS vs. SC....MS will win every time despite SC being very heavily promoted last year she still couldn't snatch up a nomination. MS was gone last year for at least 2 months (real time not soap time) yet she still snagged a nom, more proof that it doesn't matter who gets the most material, it's who makes the most of what they get.
