Can't say I'm surprised.
The writing is $h*t, and all we're left with is making fun of those that make it so easy to make fun of.

Thank you DAYS for validating my not watching this crap!
677,000 people LOST from last year!
And YES....I blame Sami and her stupid men stories! They are advertised as the "A story," so if they tank, I blame them! People are tired of it and its only going to get worst because DAYS taping so many episodes in advance!

Nothing is impossible.
This is what they should be concerned about.

I believe Days was scheduled to have a two week hiatus starting Monday. Don't know what it means, but they are only taking one week, and will be back on the 25th.
I have been told that ratings for the week of Oct. 11-15 will be better.

||Go OLTL!!! Life left in it after all! I don't like everything about it but definitely the show is well written and deserves higher ratings than it was getting. Hope they can keep going up.|

2013 is off to a very promising start...
This is the most depressing part. By the time they wake up and realize they have to fix this mess, we'll still have at least two months of shit to wade through before there would be any noticeable difference.

|I am awaiting PhoenixRising spin on these ratings. :popcorn:|

||Corday has to be sweating over these numbers especially if he is in renewal negotiations. Unfortunately, as Jane1978 pointed out at SON its probably too late to right the ship before a renewal decision is made. They have already taped Christmas and probably have the first few months of 2011 mapped out storywise.|

It had been a wonderful evening and what I needed now, to give it the perfect ending, was a little of the Ludwig Van.
:cheer: Yeah! I must admit these ratings surprised me. I'm very happy One Life's ratings are doing better. Even though that soap pisses me off sometimes, I'd hate for it to get cancelled.

Dreaming of a Melanie-free Days
Amazing how the show can crater in a year's time. It's been sliding downwards steadily for the last seven months, with only occasional slight blips towards stabilization. It's October. We are well into the time period that ratings should have been picking up if it was just a matter of summer and vacations.
This the same writing team as last year. It's largely the same cast. Ratings were fine (by today's standards) up until the end of February 2010, so it's not like Crystal and Louise hurt anything when they were brought on. They were working with similar budgetary restrictions last year. It's just that the stories for the last 7-8 months have failed to resonate, and yes, I do blame the focus on Sami, Sami, Sami, fucking SAMI. She and her stories, such as they are, have been heavily promoted this year. Even though AS doesn't lead in airtime Rafe and EJ exist solely to admire Sami's vagina and the shooting and fallout is sucking up huge story, and I do mean sucking. There is a lot wrong with Days and not all of it is due to the Sami Show, but she and her men bear a lot of the blame IMO.
|Kirk||Oct 15 2010, 11:38 PM Post #12|
The lack of a power couple also hurts the show IMO. I know John and Marlena are long gone, but there is no Jarlena, Jack and Jennifer, Patch and Kayla, or Bope. A soap needs at least one of them shown prominently.
I haven't been this uninterested in DAYS in a long time. Although the summer was rough as well.

||Terrible ratings.I am not surprised.The show has been unwatchable for months.|

I am right with you of not watching,I am so glad I am watching OLTL when Sami Hour or whatever hour/Days is on!!

"If Sami can't find happiness with a Martian, then she can't find happiness with anyone."
|Corday needs to get his head out of his ass and realize that Passions Lite is killing Days. I'm really scared that by the time they decide to do anything about the state of the show that it really will be too late.|
|Bradyclan||Oct 16 2010, 12:22 AM Post #16|
Not surprised. The lack of interesting couples,storylines and characters is catching up to them.
The shooting was one of the most WTF storylines of the year.
Most couples lack in chemistry or are utterly boring: Barly, Safe, Phelony, Danloe, Nate/Steph..
No strong female characters. They are all whiny or written OOC.
Teen scene non existent
Leading men like EJ and Philip are wasted.
Like I said, not surprised.

GET EM STEPH!!
Nope. Not going to say anything (not that I don't have things to say, they would just be repetitive). In fact, I think I'm going back into lurkdom again like I was for the past week or so. Too much doom and gloom for me. Life is rough enough.
ALL the soaps should be worried. Days isn't the only one. Y&R is down now to a 0.8 in 18-34 for Christ's sakes. The genre is done and has been done. That is why it does no good to sit around and complain. These people could be putting out Shakesphere and it wouldn't make a difference. Just enjoy each show for however long it lasts.
|DOOLFan85||Oct 16 2010, 01:31 AM Post #18|
The moral of the story is Days is a hot ass mess! I hate to say it but if Days gets canned I won't feel sorry for them in the least. And I hate to say that because it's always been my favorite soap. The boring, ridiculous, overly focused and out of character stories they have going on is a complete joke! Even if Ken wants to be done with Dena's and Gary's services they tape ahead by a few months? If they are going to make some noise fix it now damnit!

|It doesn't matter how good the writing is at this point. It's pretty much game over for the daytime soap genre. B&B has been great and it's ratings never gain more than a tenth of a point. I have accepted that all soaps will be gone in 5-6 years.|
|DOOLFan85||Oct 16 2010, 01:45 AM Post #20|
I agree with you there, B&B has been the most watchable soap lately. I can't speak for OLTL, but I heard they are doing good things there too.
