As if getting hitched to fiery Kat Slater once wasn't traumatic enough, Alfie Moon wants seconds.

The lovable rogue, played by Shane Ritchie, gets down on one knee to pop the question to pregnant Kat, in a sneaky glimpse of the upcoming EastEnders action.

The episode will feature a Queen Vic bust-up between Kat and Roxy Mitchell, after Kat accuses the blonde barmaid of flirting with Alfie.

After a cat fight at the pub, Alfie is appalled and throws out a devastated Kat - played by Jessie Wallace.

A show insider revealed: 'They end up outside the Vic and Alfie has to chase after her.

'Once he calms her down he gets down on one knee and proposes under the full moon.'

The soap legends first tied the knot in 2003, and never officially divorced despite their rocky relationship.

If they are to head down the aisle again they will be renewing their vows, assuming Kat says yes...

Viewers learn on Thursday whether or not Kat accepts Alfie's second proposal.

Though happiness may be in store in the near future for the couple, there are also rumours that they may be involved in one of the new year's most tragic storylines.

A story leaked that a character in the show was going to lose a baby in early 2011, in one of the soap's saddest ever storylines.

Bosses won't confirm whether it will be Kat or Ronnie, but soap fans are predicting further tragedy for the Moons.

Let's face it, they've never had an easy ride.

Since they fell in love back in 2002 they have always had something against them. After their first attempt at a relationship failed, Kat became engaged to gangster Andy Hunt in 2003.

When Alfie appeared on the wedding day declaring his love for her, Kat jilted Andy and ended up marrying Alfie - leaving Andy was hell bent on revenge.

He bribed Kat to sleep with him to pay off debt before blackmailing her, ultimately ending their relationship when Alfie found out about the infidelity via video tape.

Reconciliation became even more difficult when a heart broken Alfie found solace in Kat's younger sister Little Mo.

When Kat returned to the Square after a long trip and found Alfie and Little Mo together, fireworks ensued, and Alfie was forced to choose between the sisters.

He eventually chose Kat, and the couple left for the U.S. in a Ford Capri in 2005.

Their return to EastEnders this year was dubbed one of soap's biggest storylines, and as usual it was immediate drama with the pair.

They came back to the Square fresh from a scam that saw them left penniless and at each other's throats, not helped by the fact that Kat is now pregnant by another man - Alfie's cousin Michael!

The path of true love looks like it will never run smoothly for soap's legendary couple, but maybe Alfie's proposal will see the beginnings of their happy ending?
