I haven't watched yet, but i'm gonna since Sarah Wayne Callies is on the show! :D
She's easily one of the worst things about the show.

The first few episodes were great but the show is starting to lose me.

I got caught up on last week & this week this afternoon and OMG. This week's episode has to be one of the most intensely dramatic and emotional episodes of the series yet. TWD isn't just a horror/zombie series, it's all-out legitimate drama. And TPTB definitely know the right way to write and pace a serialized story. I'm never quite sure what's going to happen next.

No. (at least not that I'm aware of)

I haven't read any of the original comics, so I'm completely unspoiled. However, I've seriously been thinking of picking up the trades for it.

It had been a wonderful evening and what I needed now, to give it the perfect ending, was a little of the Ludwig Van.

I adore this show. I even got my hubby to admit that's he's crazy about it. The one thing that's killing me is knowing there are only 6 epi's this season, and so far no official word about when season 2 will being. I read that season 2 isn't even in production yet, but it's likely that it will begin to air in October of next year. I can't wait that long. :(

I agree, Matt. It's great!

It's the only show I can't multi-task during. I need to sit down and STARE at the TV when it's on.

Apparently, the show has let go of all of its staff writers and is considering using freelance writers for S2:

Well that's not going to make this show any better.

The freelance system works on the UK shows they refer to because there basically isnt a continuing story. It's a season of standalone episodes, with the script editor (or in the US's case I imagine the EP) re-writing or adding in scenes that dangle a plot thread through the season (usually to the finale which is written by the show runner).

Well, half of the 1st season was either directly written or co-written by Frank Darabont, who's staying as show runner and, from what I've read, Darabont is the one who did rewrites on the other 3 episodes of the season (including #4 that was written by the creator of the comic series). This is probably not as big of a deal as it's being made out to be.

I guess as long as he provides the freelancers with detailed outlines, it shouldn't affect the show horribly.

WTF? I really hope this doesn't compromise the quality of the show.

It’s official: AMC has picked up Talking Dead, a Watch What Happens: Live-esque after show devoted to all things Walking Dead. Web Soup‘s Chris Hardwick will serve as host of the half-hour program, which bows immediately following Walking Dead‘s Season 2 premiere on Oct. 16.
