I hate to keep drawing comparisons, and perhaps they were better at it than the UK version - I can't really decide. I havent seen tonights yet to be able to say for certain. The UK version made it rather obvious from the beginning that something was different about Ian - with the opening credit naration of him "taking after his mam" and being the only ginger in the bunch. Having Debbie also a red-head in this version hid it more. It depends how they play it out. In the original, Ian briefly searched for his father but it was a non-issue to him and Lip. He was a Gallagher.

I love this show! Finally caught up with it onDemand and then watched the latest episode just now.

I LOVE Sheila! Joan Cusack plays this role amazingly, I just adore her. Hooray for Sheila finally being able to go outside without being scared :)

Read all the posts in this thread and I'm glad to see I'm not alone in not feeling Frank to much. The actor is very good but the character is highly annoying and I'm not a fan of all of his obnoxious, outlandish antics. I would not mind seeing him phased out so that the show can focus on the other characters.

Emmy Rossum as Fiona Gallagher ROCKS! Fiona is such a real character, Emmy portrays her perfectly...she did her best work in last weeks episode when Fiona confronted Monica. Those scenes were INTENSE.

Mickey is an asshole. It bothers me how he uses Ian for sex and then treats him like shit. And Ian doesn't even seem to mind. WTF?
EXACTLY! This annoys me so much about this story. I really just don't get it. I don't understand how Ian can be so attached to that guy when he treats him like crap. Mickey shows absolutely no affection/emotion, anything for Ian. I was hoping for something when Ian visited him in jail, some kind of sign that he cared for Ian at all, but he was still just the same.

Will Lip and Ian's "Girlfriend" hook up?

Mickey doesn't bother me. He is suppose to be ass. That is suppose to be his appeal. Cold and distant.

Not really digging Fiona. She is okay, but I prefer all the other character better. She is too much of a "poor me" character.

Emmy Rossum and Goku are the biggest problems for me with this show.

Woah, Ian isn't Frank's son. Frank did look saddened by that fact for about 5 seconds.

"We having a problem... Philip?"
"I don't know BOB, lets see.. Your camped out in my house. Your fucking my mother, and your talking about stealing my baby brother, why would we have a problem?" LoL

I didn't like Mickey at first, but him and Ian are hilarious together.
"I miss you"
"You say that again.. i'll rip the tongue out of your head"
"Take your hand of the glass"

The Purity ball was hilarious... but a little sad too! LoL

Agreed. Emmy Rossum is great, but you're right Drew, her and Chatwin have absolutely no chemistry. I mean, Chatwin would NEVER be able to compare to fucking James McAvoy. Not in a million years.

I agree! Emmy Rossum wasn't the best choice, IMO. She is okay, but not great.

They have absolutely ZERO chemestry, and they're supposed to be the driving force of the series!

And I don't blame it all on Chatwin either, though he's definitely flat. Rossum plays the role as being way too hard. Where Fiona should have an edge yes, but also a vulnerable side that Steve is supposed to bring out. But even in their "tender" moments, she's still just a frigid bitch.

Anne-Marie Duff and James McAvoy were just brilliant.

Since the show is still on, and James McAvoy, I'm assuming, isn't on the show anymore, say with Lip, who are the leads now? How was Steve written out?

Frank and Carl are all that's left? LoL

What the fuck was Debbie doing in Afghanistan?

And Elliot Tittensor is the TWIN brother of Luke Tittensor (Daz Eden, Emmerdale), who was the biological brother of Andy Sugden and the love of Victoria Sugden's life (so far). The only reason he isn't still on the show us because he has troubles with the law. It's a pipe dream but I wish Shameless would on so they could bring on Elliot as Daz. He was fostered by Jack, Andy and Victoria's father (only Victoria's biologically) so technically he's a Sugden as well. Plus, ever since he left the stupid ass show has yet to give Victoria a storyline even though Isobel Hodgins is a tremendous actress. She's the girl that fell through the ice! The scene won a BSA!

Frank, Carl and Liam are left from the Gallaghers. Debbie enlisted. Then there's all the McGuires (Mickey's family). The biggest reason to watch the show is for Tina Malone's Mimi.

And both brothers have had recent legal troubles. Elliot ran someone over with his car and blinded them.

I actually loved Bob, this is the first piece of casting that's hit it for me. So amusing in both versions.

I don't know why Fiona would want Steve when she could have the much better looking Tony. Sure, he seems like a bit of a momma's boy, but these things can be modified. Idiot. Plus, they actually have chemistry.

Tony beating the shit out of Steve was great. I liked him at the beginning of the season but now I hope Fiona dumps his ass. At least for a while.

I'm thinking we'll find out Karen is pregnant in the finale. The writers foreshadowed it a few episodes ago with Karen and Lip having sex in the car and then immediately cutting to Carl dropping the bottle saying "I knew it wasn't shatterproof." In other words, the condom broke.
