It's amazing how much consistency Y&R has maintained since the airing of that 1975 episode, at least up until 2001 or so. Thanks for linking this video Matt, I appreciate it.
I did not know Bill Foster had returned to the family fold, what was the story there?

||Bill returned to the family to try to make up for abandoning them, or something, because he was dying. He wanted to leave before they knew he was dying, but he collapsed on the way out the front door. He got sicker and sicker (he tried to get Katherine off booze and cigarettes because he said they had killed him - she tried to woo him, but then let him be with his true love, Liz). Liz left the man she was going to marry to reunite with Bill (Y&R did this again with Mary Williams about 22 years later). Bill said please don't put me in the hospital, you can't afford to pay for my bills. They lied to him that they had gotten the money, when they hadn't. Katherine gave it to them after this in exchange for Jill signing over the rights over baby Phillip. Bill was on life support, which he hadn't wanted, and a grief-stricken Liz pulled the plug. She blacked it out, and to spare her pain, Snapper let everyone think he'd done it, and he went on trial. At the last minute Liz remembered, and confessed.|
