Bring on Sookie/Eric. My absolute favorite book out of all of them. This sound like it's going to be a really good season. Season 3 was a total letdown, imo.
I agree. I'm getting really excited for the new season. It sounds good. Especially the stuff with Arlene/Terry and their (demon?) baby.

One thing though... why so little Tara? It sounds like she's not going to have much to do in the new season at all. She's barely featured in the promos and her name is only mentioned once in the July episode summaries. I love Tara so that makes me a little sad.

LOL. Yeah, the Arlene/Terry stuff sounds pretty interesting. I'm sure it will have something to do with magic, because of the obvious witch theme this season. Not sure about Tara. She's going to be involved with Lafayatte/Jesus, so it'll probably be somehow connected.

Dead to The World was a great book in the series. Even though I've read most of the books I'm still not going to look at any spoilers. I don't want to ruin anything that Ball may have switched up on us.

LOL. Unfortunately, no. I've heard good reviews about it though, and I really do want to start watching, but I don't know how I'm going to be able to catch up by the time season 4 starts! With all the DAYS news and BB starting soon, my head's gonna explode! Honestly, it seems more like a chore to watch, since I'm so behind. It sucks, because it seems like the perfect show for me. I love campy, over-the-top shows, and on top of that, they have such a gorgeous cast, LoL! I think I've seen a few scenes before, but I've never actually sat down and watched an episode. I'm debating if I should just start watching now, and try to catch up on the other seasons later when I have time, but I don't know if I'm going to be able to understand what's going on. :(

Well, just incase you decide to start watching, here's the premise of the show:
Quote:

A company in Japan has created a synthetic blood beverage (Tru Blood) that vampires can drink, allowing them to survive without killing humans for their blood. As a result, vampires have "come out of the coffin" and become part of society. The series follows Sookie Stackhouse, a telepathic barmaid living in a small Louisiana town who can read people's minds, and her life is turned upside down when a vampire walks into her place of employment two years after vampires "came out of the coffin" on national television. When a couple of local thugs kidnap Vampire Bill and attempt to drain him of his blood (vampire blood, aka 'V,' is like a drug when ingested by humans), Sookie comes to his rescue and her life is forever changed.

It's basically a supernatural free-for-all. Vampires, werewolves, witches, maenads, the list goes on.

The first season follows Bill and Sookie's courtship and it features a dramatic murder mystery/serial killer story in which "fang bangers" (women who have sex with vampires) turn up dead in nearly every episode and Sookie appears to be the killer's main target.

The second season introduces the "Fellowship of the Sun," an anti-vampire religious cult that brainwashes Sookie's brother and all kinds of crazy shit happens when they kidnap one of the world's oldest vampires and try to kill him. It also introduces Maryann, a trouble-making maenad, who takes over the town and turns everyone into a bunch of zombie-eyed freaks.

The third season deals alot with vampire politics (on this show, there are kings and queens, area "sheriffs," etc.) and it also introduces the werewolves. We also find out what Sookie is and why she's able to hear people's thoughts.

The fourth season, which premieres July 26th, will introduce us to the witches. :)

So basically it's a soap with a bunch of supernatural characters + porn, right? That definitely sounds like my type of show. ;)

LoL, joking aside, I think I'll give it a try. I'll try to catch up as much as I can before the season premiere, and maybe check out the books too. Hopefully I'll be able to participate in the discussion thread for this season. Thanks Kenny; you're a dear!

LoL, precisely!

If you don't think you'll have time to get caught up on all the seasons by June 26th, you can watch Season 3 OnDemand and at least get a feel for the show and get caught up to the current season. It might be a little confusing though since you aren't familiar with the characters and their relationships.

My advice would be to start from the beginning and work your way forward. It's a really good show though, so it'll be worth the effort. I promise! :)

I'm going to ask my friend (who's a big fan) to loan me his DVDs, so I could start from the beginning. I'll put aside a day or two and marathon it.

Can't wait to see the sex!

I'm getting so excited for this. Season three was kind of a letdown, but I think I'm going to watch it again in the next couple weeks to refresh my memory.
