Soap Digest confirmed the news!! :) http://soapoperadigest.com/news/breaking/ New Head Writer at AMC! Amidst cancellation rumors, AMC has signed ,Lorraine Broderick to a multi-year deal as head writer, replacing David Kreizman and Donna Swajeski. Broderick has a long history with the soap and the daytime community. She joined AMC as a scriptwriter and breakdown writer in 1979 and was promoted to associate head writer in 1982. In 1986, she was promoted to the co-head writer position and named sole head writer a year later. After leaving AMC, she served as co-head writer of GL and head writer for AW. She returned to AMC, then left again and toiled at ATWT, DAYS, PC and OLTL. Broderick returned to AMC as associate head writer in 2009 and has earned four Emmys with the sudser during her many years there. |

This has been like whiplash trying to keep track of all the twists and turns in these rumors. ABC needs to come out with an official press release to let the fans know WTF is going on. |

I honestly didn't have a problem with Kreizman and Swajeski's writing. They've made me an AMC fan. However, I do have to admit that I really started enjoying the show last year when Broderick was interim-HW, so this news excites me. She knows the show and the characters very well. |

This is very good news. I don't expect it to do much though. It seems like AMC never shows any signs of life no matter what it it does. I agree with Drew in that DK and DS weren't bad. I think my only issue with them is the show felt lifeless at times but I tend to think that is more on JC and the production team. I think the show needs a new EP more than anything. |

This is a surprise for me. I was totally ready for them to cancel both AMC and OLTL. |

Am I the only one who thinks we are being played like a fine-tuned instrument? First it was the "Letting Rebecca H. go" and encouraging fans to become enraged....then "canceling AMC - no comment" story and then the "canceling AMC and OLTL - no comment" story....all to stir the fans into a frenzy and being them back to the shows....and raise ratings? Is someone at the top planting these stories? Because hiring a new head writer makes me think the cancellation stories are PR campaigns to increase ratings. And that makes me mad. :soapbox: |

I just hope that there's time to stop this ship from sinking like the Titanic!!!! I can't imagine a soap opera world without Erica Kane in it!!! Hell, it seems almost UNCONSTITUTIONAL to even talk or think about it.  Jesus, be a fence!!!  Edited by alstonboy4315, Apr 3 2011, 09:41 PM.
