There's an interview with Louise Sorel, not sure if I am allowed to post it word for word, but I will sum up as best as I can Vivian exits September 23rd. Ivan returns to town, he's a rolling in dough film producer, shows up in full Bollywood drag and sweeps his "Madame" off to India to make her a star! LS is not happy about this exit to put it midly. She thinks it turns her character into a cartoon or an idiot. She says it's embarassing and pathetic for a woman Vivian's age to suddenly announce she's going to be in Bollywood movies. She expressed her opinion to one of the producer's much more crassly than she intended because she was so full of sadness & rage. It didn't help that she was fired in a graceless manner. She says there was never a thank you, never a goodbye. It's not just Days, that's the way it's done everywhere now.. There is a lack of respect from those up above for the people who are doing all the work, it's like you don't exist. |

If that is Darrell and Marlene's idea then not impressed. It definitely is silly, how old is she? And India. Speaking of India, is that the new Africa? Jack went there after the walkabout and now Vivian is going there for movies. Why not Ivan rich and they move to some tropical Isle, or Tuscany or the South of France. |

She thinks this is ridiculous but not a word about the multiple sarcophagus stories, the island, and a never before mentioned son? |

2013 is off to a very promising start...

Agreed. It would actually be hard to rank the most ridiculous of Viv's plots during this return. The most entertaining thing to come out of it was that video game that was up on NBC for a while. :shame: |

Terrible exit. But then again, M&T wrote for the show in the 90s when Vivian and Ivan were a cartoon, so I'm not too surprised by them going this route with the characters. It may be how they know the character, although McPherson was there in the early-90s when Vivian was still regarded as dangerous, rather than a complete joke. Vivian's entire return was a bust. It started off great, but soon went sour after her attempts at Melanie's life, and then Maggie's. See ya later, Viv!

This is a ridiculous exit for Vivian, and even worse a return for Ivan, no matter how brief. |

I remember her complaining about the sarcophagus. She was still employed during all those other stories though. I'm glad Ivan is coming back for Vivian, but this is kind of a stupid exit, especially for someone who's been plotting and trying to get revenge all this time (however lamely those stories actually played out.) Was there any point where she wanted to be an actress that I forgot about, because this makes no sense. |

It's also Taylor's last day and probably Jack's first. So it's not just going to be a retrospective day. While I was glad Ivan was returning, I agree this whole Bollywood thing makes no sense. Very Passions. On the other hand, I'll be honest, I think LS hasn't been super professional herself. She wasn't the only one fired, but she's the only one bitching about it to this degree. Everyone's been fired at one point or another. Of the five returners, four were fired when they were last on. It happens, and it's usually not personal (and I doubt it was this time) but Louise can't stop doing interviews where she's just furious. Why is it Tamara Braun, Nadia Bjorlin and Francisco San Martin (all of whom are young enough to be her children or even grandchildren) can handle this with more maturity? I agree. Sorel isn't doing herself many favors. |

Probably because they plan to work again, whereas Louise can probably just retire. Its no different than Robin Strasser going off after OL was canned. She's in the place where she can afford to give back what the show deserved for the treatment given. The others are too young to do that without biting hands that could feed them in the future. |

It was worth it. Louise does seem really pissy in every interview lately. The younger ones will have an easier time finding work though. |

Well, Matt, Dee and Drake do more for the show, have better histories, and bring in more viewers. So it definitely was worthy losing Sorel over them. And better keeping Kate around because she actually comes off as a competent business woman, and the show needs people working, and the business rivalry thing seems promising. |

Wow. Yes there was terrible stuff for Vivian in the past, and this entire return was terrible, but all the more reason to give her a fitting and appropriate exit. This is just, ugh. Now all my excitement over bringing back Ivan to escort his madame out of Salem is gone :( |

The others probably have a more of a chance of finding something else than she does. I get the impression that she's tired of being the professional one in the relationship when all she gets in return is being treated like trash. |

I don't care if Sorel has millions of dollars stashed away somewhere for her retirement. It's just not a good look to have, especially in this business, to bite the hand that feeds you. |
