Just finished watching The Bay's latest two chapters last night (13 and 14) and found them enjoyable. The production values are much improved, and the episodes (eight total) are about 20 minutes long. There are several actors in the latest parts that I liked much more than when they were on their network soaps.

There are still some aspects of the storytelling that could use improvement, but it is much stronger and more coherent than when they started. It's definitely worth another shot.

Man, was I surprised to see some of those faces!!

Lane Davies has been back. Illene Kristen, Eric Martsolf was in it. A Martinez, for goodness sake! And Judith McConnell...Sophia from Santa Barbara, standing there with Nicolas Coster, Lionel? What a TRIP!

The Bay seems to have the Who's Who of soaps there, and they keep coming back. Real Andrews was back, too. Patrika Darbo. Heck.

And the drama was pretty good too.

I had never seen this before, but started watching with these latest episodes because I heard Lindsay Hartley was going to be on it. And I must say...it's pretty good! I wasn't really sure what to expect, but it held my interest and has me anticipating what's next!

Kudos to what the creators have done/are doing.

The storytelling on The Bay is pretty solid right now. The production is terrific, it's like a brand new show compared to when it premiered. They thankfully increased the episode length in the last few years. Took a long time to find a grove, but I think they finally succeeded. Although I wish they didn't divert from the original concept as much as they have. It's very dark, which can be tough at times, but that was always the intended direction, and from what I just watched in the first two chapters of this season, it's off to a strong start. The scenes with Sara at the prison are realistic and Mary Beth continues to amaze me in the role. Patsy Pease is also terrific. All the acting, really, is wonderful so far. I remember when Kristos Andrews couldn't make any of his dialog believable, but he's improved significantly. And I finally feel like Steve Jenson's character is going somewhere beyond just being the mysterious villain who pops up at random.

^I'm finally watching the new season, and I totally agree. The stories are finally carrying over from the previous year and feel solid, the look of the show is fantastic, and they're getting some good performances from everyone. Definitely worth a look.

There was also news today that Wendy Riche (former EP of GH) has joined the Bay as an executive consultant. Not sure exactly what that means, but it sounds like she's collaborating with Gregori on the new season. I liked a lot of her tenure at GH, so here's hoping for great stuff.

I'm watching on Amazon now. At first, I had the same trouble that I had when I originally tried to watch---way too many characters, especially for a short format. Even my "cheat sheet" didn't help much. I also had a problem with the sound quality---some actors could be heard very clearly but others were talking way too low (in the same scene). The plot has picked up midway through though, so I'll stick with it. I'm also enjoying the performances of most of the veteran actors (but Ronn Moss seemed to be parodying himself). I like Taylor Stanley (Zoey) too. I'm not familiar with her work. Oh, and Jade Harlow looks a bit like young Holly Gagnier to me. I didn't notice that when she was on Days.

I have some questions, if anyone can answer them. How long are the episodes on Amazon? And I know they dub it a new beginning, but just how is the show edited? I know they had some cast changes from those early episodes, so how far did they jump to create the new season one? I do plan on checking it out because I want it to be a success. Amazon picking up an indie web soap is such a big deal and if it's successful I'd love to see them pick up another. It's still a shame OLTL and AMC came about at the wrong time and the wrong way. They could've been big streaming hits.

I did feel as though something was missing while I was watching. Even with the recap (and cheat sheet) I didn't understand all of the interactions. I somehow missed until the final episode
Spoiler: click to toggle
And I didn't understand the elaborate
Spoiler: click to toggle
Also, I don't think I would have known that Charles Shaughnessy's character
Spoiler: click to toggle
I will probably watch season 2 though, because I do like many of the actors and there were a few good cliff-hangers.
