Killing myself slowly
LOL - DAYS is in last place in everything except 18-34 and Male Viewers, and BOY do they deserve it!
This relaunch has been an EPICLY BORING FAILURE and these numbers bring a smile to my face!
MarDar = You deserve this!

||Well, Days seems to be holding steady with that 1.7 for the most part. November sweeps will be interesting. They need to at least take over GH's spot.....that shouldn't be too hard. Had the Days reboot started off with a literal bang, these numbers may be better. Amp it up, Days!!|
|Kevc1980||Nov 3 2011, 06:34 PM Post #5|
They did go up in Demos though. That is what is most important in NBC's eyes..I think the ratings will increase when the action starts next week.

||It's interesting seeing only 5 soaps in the list and knowing it will only be four come the new year. Geez|
|james0479||Nov 3 2011, 06:39 PM Post #7|
I think so as well. I HOPE so! The November ratings will be interesting to watch.

||I've been saying that Days ticked off a lot of viewers with the firings and they did gain viewers with Marlena, John and Carrie Austin but not enough to balance out the viewers they lost.|
|dc cubs||Nov 3 2011, 06:45 PM Post #9|
GH usually has some good sweeps stunts so I will be surprised if Days can overtake them. The problem with Days is that they have just lost a lot of viewers who were bored to death. I'm not so sure they will come back for sweeps.
|james0479||Nov 3 2011, 06:51 PM Post #10|
That is my concern as well. While I appreciate the clean slate MarDar attempted to create, I'm afraid viewers found the show too slow, too "talky" with not enough action or excitement. The PR team did a fabulous job advertising the changes, however....it was a bit slow and we lost some viewers after the first week of the reboot. That PR team needs to do the same job they did promoting the reboot to promote Sweeps. The show isn't bad at all but it's not where it should be right now. I feel it is getting there but the climb has been a bit slow.

||I need them to lose in larger numbers so we can have another PTSD and move on with our lives.|
|JDeveraux_91||Nov 3 2011, 07:59 PM Post #12|
||I'm not surprised at all by these. MarDar need to wake up and realize that telling the same boring stories that we've already seen over and over, pushing the gag inducing Dannifer on us, and having Maggie Horton running around going "Where's my child???" amongst a whole other bunch of shit is not the way to win viewers. I think they've ticked off a lot of people with this absurd history rewrite where Maggie's stolen eggs from a storyline 20 years ended up producing a 45 year old man who's also a character many find disgusting. Keep pushing the same crap MarDar and you may never get above a 1.7 again!|

||Friday has the lowest rating, but it's not the smallest audience. Interesting.|

5. DAYS 2,351,000 (-42,000/-73,000)
The bolded is the number they are probably looking at closely. When comparing this to when the show started sucking about the spring or so of 2010, you'll see they haven't gained ONE viewer since Feb of 2010, not ONE....and lost an additional 73K viewers since this week last year....that is AWFUL in my book.
I did a little research....Look just how quickly Days dropped from their gains in 2009...2009 ended on a pretty good note:
Look at the weekly gain for the week ending Jan 1 2010:
3. DAYS 3,254,000 (+444,000/-28,000) and #3 in HH...not even the reboot got them 400K viewers for that one week....
By Feb they were at this number:
3. DAYS 3,275,000 (-50,000/+258,000) and in HH at # 3. DAYS 2.3/7 (same/+.3)
Still pretty good and now look what happened below, about a month after (wk of March 15) by then Mel had already married Philip, Lucas left to HK, Nicole was in jail, Ej was playing house with Sami in the townhouse and Rafe was in South America:
3. DAYS 2,838,000 (-96,000/-148,000), still at #3 in total viewers but they dropped some pretty big numbers, but more importantly they had ALREADY started losing viewers when compared to the year prior.
By April 19, they were already at #4 in total viewers, still dropping:
4. DAYS 2,506,000 (-57,000/-394,000), but look at the second number, in 2009 Days had almost 400K more viewers this week than they got in 2010...
by July Days would be at #5 in total viewers and tying an all time low (at that point) of 1.8 in HH
by the week of October they'd be at total viewers 2,424,000 (-107,000/-535,000)
So with this reboot that was given so much importance and PR, with all these big name vet returns, with the promise of fresh and exciting story lines, they haven't even been able to gain 1, not even 1 viewer guys and they have managed to lose an additional 73K viewers when comparing them to the numbers they had in 2010.....it's pathetic. I personally feel that Days should have bought back Jarlena, Jack and Lucas ONLY, no Caustin, no stunt casting of no name celebs like the Millionaire matchmaker and Burkes or Perez Hilton or anything else...no need for Billie Reed to swing by for no reason. No need for Dan or Mel to be given THIS much importance while characters like Justin and Adrienne with mayor family in Salem get shoved to the background. Why haven't we seen more of Adrienne and her brother? Why haven't we see them interacting more with Sonny? Why bring Caustin back for a redux of a quad that was bad in 2006 with a much better actor and someone with actual ties to the canvas playing the 'Rafe' part....Days doesn't learn, seriously they don't.

||I don't really understand why they did the stunt casting anyway. Nate Berkus's appearance was the only one promoted.|
|LuvingLumi||Nov 3 2011, 10:04 PM Post #16|
Half of the crap they have done makes absolutely no sense.....the HTS dedication should have ended with a huge explosion or a shooting, that would have left an aura of mystery, something to solve in addition to John's case...if they wanted to bring back John and Marlena with this embezzling case, then why not have this shooting that is taking place next week, take place when they have John arrested....let someone that is angry take a shot at John...have one of the kids go missing then....then have the Jack return folded into the shooting have him get arrested for the shooting, have Jen see him....something differen...the returns were underwhelming to begin with but they have Jack fall on the cake to give us some comic relief I guess and they have all the stories starting off so slow when they could have started with one bang, then another and another....had a small lull in October and start up again for sweeps now....dumb asses.
I'll say this, if it wasn't solely for Jack's return, I'd be gone again....he has me captivated and the worse part is that Jennifer Rose is having issues and has decided to date both Jack and Dan...that alone makes me vomit.

Totally agree!! Wasted opportunity. They had a lot of people tune in that first week of reboot. Wish they had done something like the Metro Hostage story at General Hospital years ago. Huge umbrella story with riveting drama. Would allow for a lot of angst for loving couples and opportunities for heroics.
Also, I don't understand how EJ could even think he could run for mayor. Jack had to give up his political ambitions because of the accusation of raping his wife. How could EJ run for office with all his criminal allegations? And why isn't the press asking about that?! Also, he and Nicole would have to put on the happy couple routine. Don't understand why he went to the party with millionaire matchmaker. Abe and Lexie should be talking up family values - going after EJ for being married to an ex porn star and convicted felon. Dirty politics but true to how politics work in real life. Real life politics is more interesting than DOOL's mayor story. :sleep:
Won't even discuss egg story and website story. :moon:
Hate Dannifer/bachelorette story. Jack's PTSD story line is the ONLY Story that interests me. I hope writers show him traumatized but not pathetic.
Appreciate AZ and JS working their asses off to make their badly written scenes as interesting and layered as possible.

ICAM, if TPTB weren't able to set-up stories because they wanted the characters back in Salem immediately, then story needed to start off with a bang or some hardcore action of some sort. I know it's been said but I think the reboot has been ineffective thus far because the show tapes so far ahead which made TPTB unable to set up their current stories. IMO if you're re-introducing characters and playing non-action stories (such as the pension story), there desperately needs to be a set-up that previews POV from both sides of the story before they are thrown into the fire of conflict, otherwise you have a story with no stakes and have no reason to care what happens.
I also think the writing has been hurt because their hands are tied with the amount of money they can spend on sets. We have instances now where John is stuck under house arrest, and it slows down an already slow story even more, since the character in the middle of the story can't go anywhere. Or you get instances, where characters, like Carrie/Austin are shacking up in weird 'Three's Company' style with Rafe/Sami.
It bums me out that DOOL hasn't been able to make the pieces fit in terms of stories, because this is the one show that seems to have most of their longtime, popular characters (played by their original portrayers) still intact and frontburner. Or they're not completely decimated beyond being fixable (egg baby stuff aside, lol).

||The way it looks to me is the show has been in decline since they forced Carly and Bo on us. As they started heating up on screen the ratings started dropping. Take that to Twitter CC and Nellie boy.|

Not this GH, Garin Wolf is a dull writer and sucks at pacing. If it's more of the long, drug out JaSam honeymoon and Franco, I doubt GH will get any kind of ratings for sweeps
