Well, Im really glad she is okay. Although Im sad about a recast for Celeste. Did she say she would come back and then change her mind? This seems like its now a scramble to get someone in the role last minute ,because all the scripts were already written thinking TB was a sure thing.

Well crap. I really hope it's just a scheduling thing and that they aren't trying to cover up a stroke.

That being said, a recast simply will not do. No one else can play that role. Might as well send my aunt in because no one is going to be able to live up to Tanya Boyd's portrayal. :shame: I understand that they really need to cast the role because it's scheduled to shoot this week, but I don't think it'll go over well.

I wish Tanya Boyd all the best and hope she is OK. Something is not right here and I think its about more than just scheduling issues. Wouldn't Days have talked to Boyd about her availability before announcing she was coming back to the show? I think Days should just scrap this as Boyd is Celeste.

I agree. I was reading the Diva of Days and, for what it's worth, she is saying that TB had a stroke last week but to protect her privacy, she chose not to say anything. She really, really bashed Branco because she felt that her health should have been something kept private. I tend to agree. I really hope that she's making a full recovery.

Can we please change the subject title of the thread? I worry that TB fans will see the subject of this thread and think she's returning. Its' time to change the titel.

If this is truly over a scheduling conflict, DAYS should have just scrapped it altogether. Recasting most established soap characters is nearly impossible to do right. A character as unique as Celeste? Soap suicide.

I haven't been around the boards the past few days, so I just found out a few hours ago about the reports. I just checked in with several people and none of them confirmed anything about Tanya's health. Hopefully all is well with Tanya!

I have such mixed feelings about this. I, like so many of us, wish TB nothing but the best of health. I truly hope the report about the stroke is false and there are other reasons why she is unable to reprise her role. Having said this, how can NB make such a statement if it is not true?

Maybe she saw the scripts and saw how crap the writing and stories were and decided it wasn't worth it?
Either way I hope she is well.
Who wants to bet the recast will be a flop like Susan was?

If Tanya's health is okay, I hope she sues the fuck out of Nelson Branco. What a douche.

This seems to abrupt to just be over scheduling conflicts. Maybe SOD is just trying to respect Boyd and her family by not confirming health issues, if there are any. I don't think this recast is going to work. Like others and myself have said, the role is too unique to just recast. Boyd brings so much to the character and I'm not sure if another actress can match up to that. She could try, but I don't think it would be successful. Just look at the Susan recast. It was an instant fail because she was trying too hard to capture what Eileen Davidson did with the character.

Well at least we know they wanted Boyd back originally, as they did announce it. This is clearly something out of the writers hands..The material is obviously already written, it would be very costly to re-write it...We can't be upset with them for having to do an emergency recast...Hopefully, Boyd is okay..

First off, thank God Tanya is okay, if this is the truth.

Secondly, a Celeste recast simply won't work. Boyd owns the role, and this is set up to be an epic fail on DAYS's part.

They could bring back that made up psychic nanny who used to watch Belle and Brady. I also remember someone mentioning that Bo was psychic for awhile. Restore those superpowers to him. God knows it will be more interesting than the Alice's Secret storyline he's currently embroiled in.

I totally agree. The role of Celeste was one unique to Tanya. Either her or scrap the role, please, Days.

If their looking for a temporary recast for Celeste for 7-10 episodes and an african american actress to play some between the age of 65-75 would they be willing to hire someone below that age group maybe about 2 years under that age group if so I have a suggestion but again it depends on what this actress is doing right now and wheather or not shes working for another soap right now if she is then I guess she would be out if not then maybe she could be hired as the new temporary recast of Celeste what about Berlinda Tolbert shes 63 or 64 I believe and they could still have her play someone who's a lot older and she once stared on the Jeffersons.

Does anyone know if Berlinda Tolbert would be available for she might work for a temporary recast of Celeste. I try to think of some more actresses but for some reason Berlinda Tolbert came to mind for a possible temporary recast of Celeste. I still hope Tanya winds up coming back though for shes still Celeste to me and always will be but if shes unable to then your right they may have to scrap the idea of using Celeste altogether.

I think DAYS is between a rock and a hard place here. They have a storyline in place, scripts ready to go, and now for some reason Tanya Boyd isn't available. Although I agree it's going to be extremely difficult to replace Ms. Boyd as Celeste, I doubt the show has a choice at this point. I pray she's okay, but it does seem very strange that she was confirmed as coming back and then suddenly there's a scheduling conflict.

I was really looking forward to having Celeste back again. It's just not going to be the same without Tanya Boyd in the role!

I guess we'll see how crucial the character was. I'm hoping they wouldn't recast for something minor or easily-alterable.

More importantly, I hope she's OK.

This is something I can not blame the writers for. They obviously wrote the scripts and brought back the character of Celeste, thinking TB would play the role. One week before the shoot date is set to start, they are having to do a very last minute recast. Its too late for the writers to completely re-write the storylines involved, or to scrap the character. They HAD to recast, I feel it is out of their hands. I just hope all is well with TB.

But in that same breath, I totally agree... TB brought something unique to that role...its "hers".....a recast will not be the same :(
