Physically, she fits as Celeste. I like what I see in that clip too. However, I'm not sure she'll be able to possess the unique qualities that made fans fall in love with Celeste the character like Boyd. We'll see.

As for the article referring to her as nutty, I don't have a problem with that at all. Most of Salem views Celeste as a nut when it comes to her predictions, even though they all come true in the end.

Salem may think that about Celeste, but I don't think most fans would call her nutty.
The characters' perceptions of Celeste don't make this characterization -- excuse me, assassination -- true. She's not nutty. If this were the real world, she could sue for libel. I'm very disappointed that Days wants to rewrite history. Is this a sign of things to come? That Celeste will be turned into a cartoonish nut? :shame:

But I don't see any history being rewritten. Celeste is one of those crazy or "nutty" characters that fans all in love with. Eccentric would probably be a better word to use describing Celeste. But what are eccentric people referred to by most? Nuts.

We'll have to agree to disagree, then. I would have been OK if the casting call said "the town thinks she's nutty." But surely you understand the difference between that and saying she's out-and-out "nutty," right? One is a perception, the other is a judgment.

I don't see the difference. I could see why the article would refer to her as "nutty" from the character summaries they might have read or clips they might have seen, those that may have contributed to the article, but weren't viewers of the show. Celeste would most definitely come off as "Lexie's nutty mom."

WOW! Okay, I have to give this a chance. They nailed the actress, but if she can do Celeste remains to be seen. Tanya Boyd will always be the only Celeste. I've come to grips with the fact that she had a stroke and an emergency recast had to happen. I think they did a great job of nabbing an actress that didn't even cross my mind. Very talented lady. I hope Celeste is long-term and if Tanya is ever healthy enough to continue that they give her the role.

I really love that the writers wanted Tanya/Celeste back. I have wanted her back for a long time and its so sad that this happened.

She's Morgan f'n Freeman's wife in The Bucket List. Automatic 10000 points. She's in Lean On Me (one of the greatest movies ever made) and she's also in Crash. I love Crash, but for the life of me I can't remember her from that movie. Either way she's earned my respect and patience. Just hope she nails this role!

I said they needed to get a well known actress instead of a unknown so that's a plus

I think they did the best they could considering they had to make a quick recast. This actress might just be okay in the part.

I'm not familiar with the actress but I'll give her a chance. Tanya will always be Celeste for me though, she just owns that role and I don't think anyone can replace her. I hope that she'll be okay and make her Days return someday !

Tanya will always be my first choice as Celeste, but I'm cautiously optimistic seeing this actress. I sympathize with her because it isn't easy to make an audience accept a recast. Some people never will (like I never accepted Roark Critchlow as Mike Horton--yuck!--and yet MTW was a recast too) but in this case they must have already had the story planned and written and ready to roll by the time they learned Tanya couldn't do it. At that point recasting is really the only option.

Her look is great and so is that picture of her with RJ. I really liked her in The Bucket List. Can't say that I remember her in Crash and Lean on Me, but it certainly appears Days has gotten a name actress, which can only help.

And for whatever it's worth, I have no problem with the use of the word, "nutty."

'Days of Our Lives' scoop: Meet Lexie's mom! -- EXCLUSIVE

Posted Image

An eccentric psychic is about to show up in Salem.

EW has learned exclusively that Beverly Todd (Crash, Bucket List) will join NBC’s Days of Our Lives as Celeste, the nutty mom of Lexie Carver (Renee Jones).

Todd will first appear on April 3 for a multi-episode arc. Here’s how the producers described Celeste when they put out the call for a "gorgeous African-American female": “Celeste is a unique character in every way. She has had a very sordid past with many errors in judgment. Celeste is a tarot card reader and somewhat of a fortune teller although usually tends to have visions of doom for people. She has a strong bond with her daughter and grandson and she is very protective of them. She comes back to Salem to be with her family and help keep them safe.”

Todd is taping now.
She looks beautiful, I hope she is a good actress.

I hope you're right because she predicted that the baby Sami was carrying was EJ's - that's before they knew she was carrying twins. ;)

I had the weirdest dream last night. Tanya Boyd was in my basement chilling with my family, and she was telling us the story of how she got word of being recast through e-mail because she apparently owed the show $1 million. Then I posted here and everyone was freaking out.

Thought I'd share that lol.

Not all her predictions came true you know....I'm still waiting for her 2003 prediction that John would kill Marlena to come true.

Oh and I found something rather telling about that ritual. At the time Celeste thought that EJ had killed Lexie. And look what she says:

Quote:

E.J.: If you don't mind, Celeste, I think I'm about done with talking for right now.

Celeste: So, use the time to imagine... the beautiful child growing inside of Samantha. Imagine it's yours -- your baby, and you're holding it for the first time. Imagine Stefano ripping the infant from your arms.

E.J.: Enough.

Celeste: Yeah, your innocent child being used to add a few more years to his villainous life. A bright future traded for an evil past.

E.J.: You know what? I think I've had just about enough of your imagining.

Celeste: Wait, E.J. you can't leave until the fire's burned itself out and the embers have cooled...unless you don't really want to know whose baby Samantha is carrying, huh?

E.J.: Fine. I'll stay. But I've had enough of your rambling, thank you.

Celeste: Yeah, well, that's the price you have to pay for taking my daughter from me. I can't prove that you killed my beloved Alexandra, so this is my justice, E.J. I will make you feel the unimaginable pain of having your child ripped right out of your life.

Check out the bolded. What better way to make him feel what it's like to have a child ripped out of his life than to make him believe it was his kid when it wasn't.....I'd say it's interesting if nothing else.

We know Celeste will stick around for awhile for she going to be an important part of the new serial killer storyline and will see doom and gloom in the near future and your right some of Celeste's predictions didn't come true but I could see the bolded part happening with him losing Johnny to Lucas for Lucas has been the biological father to the twins all along.

Nick said so and had a signed report by the head lab technition in his hand that both Lucas,Sami and EJ saw that Lucas is the father of both the twins so its about time that be brought up again for its ridiculious that it was dropped in the first place.

Top that off with Kate saying I hope you can forgive me Lucas one day for what I'm about to do and Kate knew too and might have tried to change the hospital records that said Lucas wasn't the father after all but its ridiculous to go back to everyone not knowing again when they already know Lucas is Johnny's father already so I never understood why they went back to that scenario that Lucas wasn't the father when it was already revealed that he was and Rolf and Bart said so and the truth about Johnny will come out top that off with the Horton Orniment he has along with his sister, his curly hair like Will had and the fact he plays soccer and Lucas played soccer too as a kid.

I also wonder if Sydney won't be brought up as well their two scenarios written out for Sydney before the writers we have now came on one that hinting at her being Lucas daughter as well from sleeping walking,or from that one time Lucas and Sami made love before Lucas went to jail before she slept with EJ,to Lucas noticing Sydney looking like Allie when he interacted with Nicole and theirs yet another as well with more then one scene hinting at this and two written out for Nicole where Rafe matched up Sydney's DNA to the DNA on a toothbrush he thought was Sami's toothbrush at the time but turned out to be Nicole's tooth brush instead to when Nicole was hullucinating and was drugged and thought she had a miscarriage but could have had her baby early and Dr. Baker kept her alive and gave Nicole back her own baby and felt guilty about what he was doing and Syndey was that baby so the writers now have two scenarios to pick from with Syndey where it could be either or with Lucas or Nicole so Sydney is a toss up and could go either way with Lucas or Nicole.
