One thing though... I'm going to need that bitch Ivy to be knocked down a peg or two. As much as I love Megan Hilty, her character makes me want to throw something at the TV.
I think the bitchiness stems from her huge insecurity. A lot of people in theatre are like that - always need to be validated by others, told how wonderful their performances are and wonderful they are. And if they don't get it, they lash out - especially at people they feel threatened by.
I hate people like that.

The worst is when they know they're good but they need constant validation anyway. Drives me crazy!
Oh yeah, those type of people are painful energy vampires to be sure. But at least in the case of Ivy, the show has bothered to flesh out her insecurity stemming out of her mother's treatment of her. So we can see how she got to be who she is, and makes me kind of sympathetic to her. It doesn't make her bahaviour right, but at least we can understand how she got rooted in that behaviour. The part that bugs me are her friends in the show - they are really nice people, and they are nice to her - they enable her to pull that shit off.

Her friends totally enable her. "Oh Ivy, you're so great. Oh Ivy, you're so awesome." Please. What I wouldn't give for one of them to tell her she's an overrated whore, LoL.

Meanwhile, it kills me how she slept with Derek to get the role and then after the fact she was like, "You don't think he gave it to me because I opened my legs for him, do you?" Funny how she worries about that after the fact... as if the moral corruptness actually matters to her.

What a phony bitch.

I don't really care that much for Anjelica Huston.
Blasphemy!

I've loved her since I was a kid when I first saw her in The Witches.

Just watched 5 episodes of the show and finally caught up. While I was a little bored with the show in the beginning, I'm definitely hooked and invested now.

I want to throw Ellis off the roof of a building. :frustration: I can't stand him. I know he is suppose to be a villain but even that gets to a point where he is beyond annoying.

The one thing about Ellis being so annoying is when Angelica Houston's character puts him in his place!

I hope his gf finds out what he did.

I love this show (besides Ellis though). Each epsiode gets better than the last one.

Yeah, I know Karen & Ivy making friends was lame, but it was so heart warming too! (I've become a sap clearly).

Debra Messing is a way better actress than I have ever given her credit for. I guess I have never seen her with challenging material before. Also, that scene near the end where Julia met Michael, combined with the cinematogoraphy, directing and dialogue, was such a classic iconic scene - the type you hardly even see in movies anymore. Hard to believe it was broadcast tv...

I hope Tom doesn't cheat on his Republican with Ivy's friend (although it would help explain why Tom & Julia are bffs lol)

Loved this latest episode. Debra Messing was fantastic. She is so in the wrong, but I feel her pain. I love Republican guy..I'll date him :) and the "Cheers to the Weekend" is my favorite number they've done so far. Loved it.

Even though I know her reasons for being insecure, I find Ivy to be a horrible and phony human being. Her friends do her no favors. I especially despise Tom's everlasting OTT praise of the "STAR" Ivy. The casting couch thing was nasty and seedy even if probably somewhat accurate.

Ellis the weasel needs a big smack down. I hate him. He is slime.

I love Jack Davenport but since I don't like Ivy, his character being with her so much is a turn off.

On the other hand, this show has made me like Katharine McPhee much more than I did before. She has worked hard to develop her talent and it shows. Hilty has a traditional, huge stage voice but I find McPhee's to be much more surprising and entertaining.

I didn't like last nights episode on the whole. It felt like we were waiting for Uma THurman since last week and the entire episode was waiting for her to arrive. All this waiting, arrgh.

The bar guy from All my Children (forgot his name) is icky (and needs to wash his hair asap). Poor Eileen could do so much better.

I liked Ellis being called a user, even if it was by a dayplayer.

I don't like Uma Thurman's character, but I don't think I am meant to.

All this talk about Rebecca's peanut allergy, and last week's "end of the season" promo featured someone yelling "She can't breathe"... so I think it's safe to bet that Rebecca Duvall's downfall will be a peanut.

The Bollywood sequence was so awful and cheesy that it was hilarious. Kat McPhee's body is slammin', though!

Just discovered a few days ago that Tala Ashe (ex-Ameera, ATWT) is playing Dev's female friend. Good to see she took some acting classes after her ATWT stint.

I hate Ellis and Ivy with every fiber of my being. I hope they both get hit my a mack truck. (Although, I will say... the "fake" Ivy seems like she'd be an awesome person to hang out with.)

This whole Julia mess is so awful. Poor Debra Messing. Doesn't she realize she deserves better?!

HATE HATE HATE HATE Tom & Chorus Boy. Whoever thought of THAT pairing needs to be slapped in the face. I liked him with the Republican much better. (Although, now that I think of it, I'm not a big Tom fan in general.)

IMO, the Bollywood fantasy sequence is quite possibilty the greatest & most epic thing I've seen on this show yet. It was utterly AWESOME!

I thought the Bollywood was awesome too.

McPhee's version of 'Run' was kinda bland, especially when you consider Snow Patrol's original and the Leona Lewis cover.

Gossip Girl Boss Joins Smash as Showrunner

Get More: News, Contract Talks

Spotted: Gossip Girl executive producer Josh Safran walking towards Broadway en route to his new gig on Smash.

The current boss of The CW soap has been tapped to take over showrunner duties on the sophomore season of NBC’s musical drama. He will succeed Smash creator Theresa Rebeck, who exited the series in late March.

Season Finale Spoilers: Scoop on 52 Big Finishes!

Safran has been with Gossip Girl since its debut in 2007, serving first as writer/consulting producer and then co-exec producer before receiving a bump to EP last season. There’s no word who’ll replace him at GG, which is expected to return for a sixth and final season.

Seriously NBC? Gossip Girl can't even get 1 million people to watch it live. Why does NBC reward failure like this? They have spent so much money on Smash, only to allow a "friend" in the incestuous industry to destroy it? This network really deserves the ratings it gets. Arrrgggh... [/rant over]

Well, I'm of the group that doesn't care much for McPhee's autotuned numbers, nor do I think she can even be a half-ass decent Marilyn... so it fell flat for me too.

I actually felt a tear fall during Ivy's "Second Hand Baby White Grand". Megan Hilty is spectacular, and she's the thing saving the show when they push Karen too much.
