I agree about Jessica. She has the best voice and is the best singer BUT she does rub many the wrong way, including myself. Her arrogance is off the charts now but it's a quiet arrogance. It's in her body language and facial expressions. It's grown more and more. I mean, she's as egotistical as Beyonce, right down to the fact that she has "persona" she performs as. The girl thinks she has already arrived and she hasn't sold a single record yet. I don't think she deserved to go but I can see why she may not have as many fans as expected. I think the judges did her no favors last night either. The response to last night's behavior by the judges may get people to rebel against her. Sure, it was obvious the judge's would use the save this week (especially after the reports of a "surprise" elimination). However, the judges, particularly Randy did not have to behave the way they did with them running on stage and Randy proclaiming her the best singer in American ever while also chastising America for not voting the way he wants them too. That is a major no-no and you would think he and the other judges would realize by now that pushing an agenda and ordering America to do anything only accomplishes the opposite. I mean, Randy came right out and called out America for not voting the way he thought they should for Jessica. That is likely going to cost her and that's sad because despite my not liking her personality, she deserves to at least make it to top 3 based on her voice and skills. Add what happened last night on top of the fact that they have been overhyping her and Joshua for weeks (at least they don't stand after every performance for Jessica like they do Joshua...Joshua could squat and take a crap on stage and they would clap...seriously) and you have a recipe for both to end up going home perhaps earlier than they should. The judges (mostly Randy) were very unwise to do what they did last night and have been very stupid to keep pushing Joshua and Jessica while slighting others (Hollie, Skylar). It's burned them before and it will burn them again. At least last year they were just unfair to Haley and really weren't only pushing two contestants (they seemed ok with any combination of Scotty, Lauren, Pia at one point, and James in the finale) but this year it's been all about Joshua and Jessica. I don't think either will make the finale, especially now. I didn't think either would to begin with, really. I thought they both peaked early and that their personalities and backgrounds and hometowns wouldn't garner them the kind of support needed. I've felt since top 13 it would be Colton and Skylar in the finale and I still think it will be. They both have the most friendly and entertaining personalities. The cute way they handle the dating rumors helps that along. They've both been hyped from the first time we saw them (they are even pairing them in duets together much like Scotty and Lauren were last year, which I think helped get Lauren into the finale). Hell, Colton's journey started LAST season. He's very relevant on today's charts and she's a country artist, which means she has that fanbase (her bottom 3 stint will ensure that fanbase doesn't get complacent anytime soon). I think they are the two and Skylar, as I've always said, is the best chance at a female winner because she's likeable and a country artist. I can see young girls voting for her, which is key. You need to steal young girl voters from the two main male contestants (Philip and Colton). Luckily, they are splitting the votes and that makes it easier. I think Colton has Philip beat with the women. Philip is just bland and the same thing every week. His laid back personality doesn't help him. Colton, on the other hand, is real and relatable. His singing appeals to a wider audience, especially a contemporary one. I've seen nothing to change my mind from a Colton/Skylar finale, especially in light of last night. |

Yeah, it's totally her arrogance that got her there and not her voice. What I don't understand is how Elise keeps ending up in the bottom 3! I don't know why people aren't voting for her. I know Jessica is a better singer, but Elise definitely has the whole package and is the BEST all around girl, IMO, as far as voice, talent, stage presence, personality, and potential star power go. IMO of course. I think Colton and Philip will be the final two. LOL. I know the show wants a girl to win desperately, but I don't think that will be the case. |

So, which two people do you think will be voted off this week? I am thinking Hollie and Joshua? |

They aren't voting off two. They did a double elimination early in the season when they disqualified Jermaine so only one goes home this week. Otherwise, they would have a problem because of when the finale is scheduled. They would have a week extra to work with. I think Hollie is next for sure but I would not be surprised if it's Elise. It's clear she does not have a steady fanbase. I think what works against her is her age. It's the same thing that worked against Erika. In a competition like this, especially in a year with so many teenage girls, girls like Elise and Erika were at a disadvantage. I think what helped Elise was all of Erika's fans jumped to supporting her but that is starting to wear off it seems. I mean, the show gave her the pimp slot this week and everything and she still was in the bottom two. I didn't like Elise at first but she grew on me and now I think she's fantastic. I agree she's the best all around female with Skylar in second but I just think because of her age she doesn't have that young fanbase that is willing to vote like crazy for her. She's getting an older audience and we know they don't tweet or text in votes or call as many times as the younger audience. I also don't think there is ANY way both Philip and Colton make the finale. They are fighting over the same group of voters. They are going to split the vote and only one will make it. That is what always happens. Jimmy even alluded to it this past week. Colton IMO is the most likely because he's more friendly and more current. I can see the young girls voting more for him than Philip. I think Colton's dynamic with Skylar is helping him get over with those voters too. |

I agree with Phoenix about Elise. The voting on this show (especially the last few seasons) has been swayed by the younger vote that will spend hours texting in votes. Elise is the better overall artist compared to Jessica. Jessica is going to appeal to the younger fans and just the general state (IMO) of music today that is very bland and predictable. Also think Colton will go farther than Philip. Philip is basically Dave Matthews which is going to lean more to the older voters. Colton appeals to a more variety of people in different age groups as well as musical tastes. I will say though if Colton makes it to the finals, I don't know if he could be beat. I just think those teen girls who are a huge voting block are going to vote for him over the others. Jessica might have the best chance to beat him, but I just think other voting blocks (older, rock listeners, indie, VFTW) would vote more for Colton to make up for lost teen girl votes. I honestly don't know if Skyler with the strong country vote could beat him either. |

Oh, that's a good point. So, only one person will go this week. I hope it's not Elise. Ugh. I do not think Jessica will see the final two. Of course, I could be wrong! |

No you can only text (if you have the right carrier), call, and Facebook. I agree with others about how Jessica's personality isn't all that appealing. That hurts her chances even if she sings well. I was expecting something crazy and this didn't disappoint. I think the other reason she was in trouble this week was the song she performed solo wasn't as known. |

^Yep. Good point, Jessica's song was relatively unknown. That didn't help, nor did her place in the performance order. I knew from the beginning she has surprise elimination written all over her but now, given what's happened and the judge's behavior and overhype for her, I think she will go home in 2-3 weeks. She will definitely be gone by top 3 week IMO. Isn't she from California too? They usually aren't reliable voters on this show. If your from the south on this show, you have a much better chance. |

I called absolute and total bullshit on Jessica being last....LOL...what a fucking setup by AI, just so the judges can use the save :eyeroll: Next week Jessica won't be anywhere near the Bottom 3 and Hollie will be packing her shit in. |

Tonight's them is Now and Then. Each contestant sings 2 songs, one from now, and one from then, when is then? Who knows? Hope Skylar or Hollie go home this week, with the other one next week, Joshua after them. |

Here is a great article from TVguide on why Jessica won't win. I agree with all of the points: http://www.tvguide.com/News/Idol-Jessica-Sanchez-1046127.aspx |

I think Philip did amazing last night. As usual, I hated Skylar. I hated Colton's version of Bad Romance. And I hate to say it, but I was so disappointed in Elise last night! I loved Colton's second song. Joshua was boring to me, as usual. Does anyone know a site that live streams the results show? I'm on the West Coast. I don't want to wait or get spoiled. |

I don't know about live streams but rickey.org usually has a live play-by-play. Or it used to, anyway. I formally object to the countrification of Born This Way, moreso the lyric changes. That was some bullshit, and I'm thoroughly pissed off about it. If you're going to sing it in that style, at least maintain the pro-acceptance politics of it. Otherwise...I shouldn't even go there, but I hate that girl and hope she doesn't win this whole thing. I hope she doesn't even get a career from this (she probably will). Also, I think her singing sucks. She tries too hard to make her voice bigger than it is, imho. And why does she need to be trailed by a fiddler? Did she at least explain why she changed the words? I only watched the performance online. Other than that- meh. They have some fine singers but nobody really has charisma, imho, in a way that makes me want to listen or buy their music. It's all very pageant-y, which I guess happens when most of your contestants grew up wanting to be on your show, not wanting to be musicians. |

What is the difference between raw numbers and dial idol? I know the dial idol is based on busy signals. |

Apparently, Lady Gaga has a country version of "Born This Way". I didn't know that she did. I like Colton, but not last night. Bad song choices for him. Phillip was good! I always like him though. I would like to see either Jessica or Skyler go. |

I really liked Colton's version of Earth, Wind, and Fire, but I really hated his Lady Gaga song. Like...a lot! It seemed like a parody. If I had to rank them based on last night: 1. Philip 2. Hollie 3. Jessica 4. Colton 5. Joshua - (But I'm biased. I do think his voice is amazing. I just don't think he should be in a competition for the next Pop Idol) 6. Elise 7. Skylar Edited by King, Apr 19 2012, 01:09 PM.
