My rankings. (1) Phillip Phillips --- I want him to win now. He knows who he is, enough said. PERFECTION (1) Jessica Sanchez ---- awesome as ever, better even than she was last week (3) Colton Dixon----loved his Born This Way, not so much on his 2nd performance, maybe his worst performance yet, hate to have him #3 in a way, but my overrall feelings are now figured in. (4) Hollie Cavanagh --- her best night ever, finally putting feeling in her songs, Bottom 3 (5) Skylar Laine --- only due to her 2nd song, her 1st was her best performance yet (6) Joshua Ledet ---- good, yeah, but waaay over-rated by the AI judges. (7) Elise Testone---- unfortunately, her worst night imho, bad timing!, bad song selection, neither of her songs were good for her. |

Thanks for the info. I still hate that chick, though, for the verses she chose to go with. |

Here are my rankings for last night: 1.) Hollie (liked her first performance better than her second but even her second was solid...she showed VAST improvement and deserves to stay) 2.) Skylar (both performances were solid although I did not like the arrangement for her version of "I Heard It Through The Grapevine. She performed it well though) 3.) Jessica (Her first performance was good but her second was a bit off. She was trying TOO hard. You could tell. She was shouting a bit in spots and, unlike with Skylar, she can't disguise it as well or make it fit the song she is singing.) 4.) Elise (I really liked her first performance but her second was a bit...odd. I don't know. It felt too much like a lounge performance. She performed it well but it was a bit bland. 5.) Philip (I don't like him but I have to put him here to be fair given Colton and Joshua had really off nights IMO. I didn't think his performance of 'You Got It Bad" was worthy of a standing ovation, then again the judges tend to stand up for anything nowadays. It was original but not very exciting due to his lackluster performance skills. His second performance was just typical Philip. Solid but ordinary. 6.) Colton (His first performance was original but all over the place for me. Still, he pulled enough of it together to make it somewhat respectable of a performance. His second performance was just way too boring. Nice idea but needed more "pop." Plus, the vocals at the start were flat.) 7.) Joshua (I'm not a huge fan of his but he was REALLY off tonight. The shrieking returned for him in his first performance. I think he tried too hard on that song given he felt he needed a moment after last week and Fantasia is his idol. The emotion got the best of him and I felt he lost the song at the end and it ended rather badly. The arrangement and editing of the song did him no favors either. His second performance was better although his singing still seemed off. I felt like he was too restrained and that alot of notes came off flat. The ending wasn't bad though.) General Thoughts: I did not like Ryan and Jennifer making Elise talk about her dog that way. Also, I think Elise hurt herself a bit trying to explain herself to the judges. She made a good point about the performance time making it hard to let the songs marinate but we know on this show it's best to keep your mouth shut, even if you expressed yourself respectfully. As for the comments about Skylar, Jimmy is the one that directed her in changing the lyrics of "Born This Way"so that isn't on her. She's trying to appeal to her fanbase. I think it was smart. The judges were a bit more subdued tonight but I fear it's too late. Their behavior last week will cost Jessica down the line for sure IMO. I noticed they stood for Joshua twice. I think they realize his time may be up. People forget but he was in the bottom 3 earlier this season so I think the judges realize he's time may be coming so they are trying to overhype him to keep him around and also make sure he still knows how good he is. Joshua's mannerisms and behavior also give off a "I know I'm not going to be here much longer" vibe. Now, I will admit that Philip is talented but my issue with him is that his performances and personality are just bland. He's awkward and very cut off from the audience. He has talent for sure but Idol has had enough winners and contestants like him to last at least another few seasons. He's merely a better Lee Dewyze. This show can't afford another winner like him right now. At least someone like Colton stands a chance. He's current and fits into a genre that sells right now. Philip will go the way of Lee and also Kris Allen. He will be forgotten the minute this season is over. We've seen it before. He's forgettable. The only three on this show who stand a shot at having successful careers with staying power are Skylar (country fanbase), Colton (young rocker, nice guy, hip image), and Jessica (young, dynamic voice, you can package her). That is why I can't support him. I acknowledge his talent though. Anyway, I think a guy will go home tonight. DialIdol is saying Colton may be in trouble but it's been proven Joshua's numbers on there are inflated so I could see him being in danger and going home too. Colton may have more young fans texting in votes for him and that may be the different in him staying. Same goes for Skylar, who DialIdol also says may be in trouble. I'm going to predict Joshua goes home tonight. |

Ok...what the hell was with the balloons during the group performance? Random. We don't even get balloons at the finale LOL. |

Ok...with Joshua safe and Hollie in the bottom 3, I may have to amend my prediction of a guy going home. I think it may be Hollie or Elise now. |

Do you think the judges stand so much because they need to stretch frequently? I mean, Steven Tyler is like 150 years old. He may not be able to stay seated for long, and they don't want him to feel awkward. |

^LMAO. Maybe. It would make more sense. They've stood like 10 times for a performance and I feel only like 3 were warranted. Ok. so Skylar is safe. Awesome! With Elise and Hollie both in the bottom 3, I think one of them is definitely gone now. This always happens after a surprise elimination (even with a save used). The person who many believe should've went usually goes next and many wanted Hollie or Elise gone. |

I love all the attention Idol has been giving to Dick Clark. Great tributes the last two nights. Kudos. |

What the hell am I watching? I know of these guys but usually their stuff can at least be catchy and make you want to get up and dance, no matter how awful it is. This performance is a really bad acid trip. I mean, they got zebras wandering around on stage. |

It had been a wonderful evening and what I needed now, to give it the perfect ending, was a little of the Ludwig Van.

LOL @ Jimmy's comments about Colton! So true!

So happy Elise is safe! Colton deserves to be in there and I did NOT like his "I honestly don't care" quote in that clip package backstage. If he doesn't go tonight, that may send him packing next week. I'm a fan but that was stupid. I think the judges may jump ship on him too, much like they will Elise too (even though they never really supported her and even though she wasn't as blunt as Colton just was). I honestly think between what is going on with her dog (that was in poor taste trying to make her talk about it last night) and the fact she believed she was likely going home, I think she just threw caution to the wind and doesn't care if she's throwing the judges under the bus. She still did it rather respectfully though, to her credit. |

Okay, so it's between Hollie and Colton. My guess would be that Hollie is going home. Yeah last night she had good performances, but it was too little too late. She hasn't been consistent. Colton has a strong fanbase. I'm sure the producers did this for shock value. There's no way Colton would go home before Hollie and Elise. Edited by Zoe_Zeppelin, Apr 19 2012, 07:56 PM.

WTF?! Hollie is safe and Colton is leaving?! Holy shit! I'm not depressed about it or anything but wow. My hubby is going to be thrilled! LMAO!!! How has Hollie managed to survive all these rounds? Amazing! I can't lie, I FF'd most of Colton's Gaga cover last night. I just couldn't stand it at all. Wow, he really went. This sucks. He had one of the worst nights but it still shouldn't have been him. I think something is up. What was with his "I wasn't myself" bit? I like that he apologized though for what seemed to be that comment backstage and for thinking he was definitely right. One positive...he's close to Skylar. His votes may go to her and that may get her into the finale. And this final performance of his has me tearing up. It should not have been him. Ugh. |

Congratulations, Phillip. You have a clearer path to victory. Don't fuck it up. Or do, I don't really care. Though I guess if it comes down to it I'll take you over Skylar. |

Wow! I thought for sure Colton would be in the finale with Phillip. Granted, he didn't have the greatest night last night but I figured he had the tween vote locked regardless. It should've been Elise. |
