It had been a wonderful evening and what I needed now, to give it the perfect ending, was a little of the Ludwig Van.

I agree. The age/experience hurt Erika too. I actually think Elise inherited Erika's voters and that is what kept her in there. She represented the more mature viewers and it only took her so far. I also think her and Hollie are splitting votes from the "sway" voters and Hollie swung enough of them here way with her last long to make the difference. This time, there was no safety net for Elise. Everyone else besides her and Hollie has their fanbases so she was pretty much screwed the minute Hollie had that moment with "The Climb." I'm kind of shocked they revealed the top 3 tonight. I know it's 6 people and if you reveal the bottom 3, the top 3 is too but I recall they usually try to avoid revealing the top 3. Last year, for example, they had Scotty stand up with Casey at the end. They never revealed the actual bottom 2 or 3 nor the top 2-3. Scotty was clearly not bottom 2 but they left him for the end to boost his votes likely and not reveal too much so I'm shocked Idol chose to reveal all that this week. Maybe it's part of their plan to somehow knock Philip or someone else out by making voters be complacent now that they know their fave is top 3. I was just looking around and noticed Haley was there in addition to Casey too. It was like a season 10 reunion in support of Stefano. Love that! Next week will be interesting because it should rally Skylar's voters to her cause with her being in the bottom 3 and I can see Hollie getting enough support to keep her one more week. She will likely be bottom 2 but I can her lasting. The theme next week is "British" (British Invasion is, I believe, is the full theme). Now I know the show really is pushing the "Hollie redemption arc" LOL. This theme clearly helps her alot. I think we get a shock next week. The recipe is there for either Philip, Joshua, or Jessica to go next week IMO. If the judges want a girl to win, they NEED Philip to get eliminated next week or top 4 week. If gets to top 3 week, he's going to make the finale and likely win. He has the female vote and Vote For The Worst on his side. I was glad Elise got to sing "Whole Lotta Love" at the end. That was cool and quite a nice moment. I only wish the show didn't cut away just when she was getting into it. Loved Stephen being into it too. Just wish we could see the rest of that performance at the end. It was obvious there were no surprises tonight tho. No tweets from Ryan or Nigel and the fact that the elimination occurred with so little time left always equals an unsurprising result. Oh...loved the Stephen Tyler Burger King commercial too! Totally random but Burger King commercials have been that way lately with the celebrities in them. They are really trying to up their game LOL. ETA: Just read an article about Elise. For those wondering after it was mentioned her dog was badly ill, he made it through it seems. She mentioned he nearly died and now she plans to go home where he is better and watch him run around in a park. So glad to hear that and hate that the show tried to get her to talk about it, even if it may have helped her in voting. She also mentioned (very respectfully, as she always does) that the judges were kind to her after she got eliminated but that she didn't think they helped much. Given her experiences in music, she didn't think their advice fit with what she had already learned. I thought that was interesting. It makes sense that older, more experienced contestants are conflicted when it comes to the judges because they have learned many things on their own and they are set in their ways. It complicates things for sure. Edited by PhoenixRising05, Apr 27 2012, 01:35 AM.

I like that cute Joshua Ledet kid a lot. I just wish that someone was near him to advise him that he doesn't need to scream and growl needlessly through songs. I think his voice is naturally rich in tone without all of that. And I think he's really good with uptempo type songs. His performance of "Runaway Baby" showed that. But I liked his slow performance of "Ready For Love" also, it sounded like the kind of song to play while you're "getting your freak on" :sex4: so to speak. :chee: |

Sad to see Elise go, but a lot her own doing for picking unknown songs. GLAD to see that Skylar was in the Bottom 3, sad to see that Joshua was in the Top 3. Joshua is the most over-rated contestant ever on IDOL, with Skylar pretty close behind! |

Yeah. I can't blame her. She does seem robotic...and awful. LOL. But Great voice. Elise was my favorite, but I can't say she didn't deserve to go. Everyone else is fighting for their lives, and she's blown the last two weeks. IMO. |

That's interesting. I would think you'd go with the latest advice, instead of the advice that didn't exactly light your career on fire. J. Lo is an expert at making oneself famous with relatively little talent. I would do whatever she told me to, if I were a fame-seeker on Idol. And Steven knows how to ride one hit song for years- I'd pick up his advice, too. Stefano's new single throws me, 'cause he made a bit of noise about how his music would be different from any other Idol as he's more authentic R&B. It doesn't come off like an R&B song to me, even given how dance-y a lot of stuff is lately. Sure is different, though. As for who was cut and who lived on- whatever. They all kind of bore me. I guess this is what happens when you have contestants who grew up watching and had a goal of getting on Idol, not necessarily being in music. If that makes sense. |

I agree. I could support Joshua if he stopped with all that although I do not like him on uptempo songs because he hasn't yet learned how to sing when running around the stage. He's out of breath and his voice suffers, kind of like when he gets emotional and his voice closes on him. I was really surprised Jimmy came right out and said that the voting and show have issues if Joshua went home this week because the judges are already pissing people off with their over the top praise of Joshua and the constant standing ovations. Between all that and how Randy chastised the viewers about voting for the so-called best in Jessica, the viewers are all riled up so Jimmy doing that may further accelerate the anti-judges/anti-Joshua/Jessica sentiment. Jimmy is usually more in tune with things like this so I can't believe he said that and added more fuel to the fire. Dumb. I hate this because I want the focus to be on eliminating Philip and if people are so busy trying to rebel against Joshua and Jessica, he will likely end up in the finale and likely winning. Ugh. I want Hollie to make it through BUT it may benefit Skylar if Hollie goes home next week. She will DEFINITELY get Hollie's votes if she does because it's been made clear to the viewers that she and Hollie are best friends. Hollie's votes may be enough with some pimping and the country fanbase to get her to the finale. We'll see though. The theme may help Hollie this week although she had a good week and the pimp slot this past week and still was bottom 2 so her time looks like it could be running out. One thing I noticed on the results show that I missed the first time...Casey Abrams sat with Hollie while Stefano performed and he had laughing her ass off. It reminded me of how crazy and awesome he was personality-wise. Edited by PhoenixRising05, Apr 28 2012, 12:55 AM.

Agreed. I like Elise and all and can see where she is coming from but it's not like whatever lessons she learned from her experiences have helped her thus far. Otherwise, she wouldn't have needed Idol. She also mentioned not liking reality shows and how she would never do one again yet she did Idol. I think she thinks she knows more than she does, even if she claims that isn't the case. She speaks her mind respectfully but, reading between the lines, she's a know-it-all. I don't think that this group is all about simply making it on Idol. If they didn't want to be in the music business, they wouldn't be here. I think what has hurt is the show didn't focus on letting us get to know them all. Last season, we got alot of focus on the contestants interacting and on their backgrounds and such. This season, they gave us what they usually give us in the early rounds but kind of veered away once top 24 hit. They didn't even move this group into the mansion until top 10 and they usually do that top 13 week. The last two weeks they've finally showed us more of this group's personality and we are finally learning more about them. That is key to this show. I feel a bit more connected now seeing how close they all are. It makes a difference, at least for me and some others I've noticed. |

This season is one big ass boring EPIC fail IMO...it grew stale about 3 weeks ago for me. That being said, I hope Jessica wins the whole thing. Skylar has no business being in the competition and the judges pimping of her is RIDICULOUS and TRANSPARENT...and makes no sense cause is a WEAK singer! Phillip is a one trick pony, Hollie is a faker and Joshua is HIGHLY annoying. I loved Elise, but I admit she really dropped the ball the last 2 weeks and it was her time to go. It is on the boring side. I do like a few of them, but everybody is kind of dull. I don't like a lot of the song choices. I don't like the Skyler pimping either. She isn't that great and I find her annoying. I don't care for Jessica either (I did like her in the beginning). Her personality sucks and she only performs well on ballads. I think Joshua can really sing, but I don't see myself ever buying his music. I don't think it would be my style. I like Phillip and Hollie the best of the final 5. |

^So was I. She was great. I may not have liked who won but at least Idol can justify it with how well Scotty is doing. The show still has credibility. I'm loving this season because at least there are more people who can win. Usually, by now, it's 1 or 2. It's more unpredictable and I like that. I think this group as a whole is much better at this point than last year's. I'm really pulling for a Jessica/Skylar finale but wouldn't mind Hollie slipping in there either. Just as long as a girl wins it works for me. I don't see what is so annoying about Skylar. She is basically a better version of Lauren last year. Then again, many didn't seem to like Lauren last year either I suppose. I guess people on this board just hate country LOL. I will admit the praise for Skylar is too much but it's too much for EVERYONE. The judges are out of control with that crap. |

I haven't heard of Scotty doing anything...but I don't follow the country world at all. I think Philip really needs to win this season. He has blown them all out of the water most nights, IMO. |

Each time I've watched Skylar she tries to push her voice far beyond what it's capable of (she's kind of yell-y, imho). And, I don't see the point of her. There's Carrie Underwood and others in country who can sing the shit out of a song (and Kelly Clarkson is migrating that way). There are Kellie Pickler/Taylor Swift types who can't necessarily sing but push through with personality and/or songwriting skills. She's just...extraneous. Plus she assaulted that Clarkson/Aldean duet, and I hate her for what she chose to sing of the country version of Born This Way. I also find her twang to be a bit forced. Like it's exaggerated. I actually think Lauren was better, though I don't know why she was dancing in her debut video. |

This pretty sums up my feelings on her too. I love country music, so that has nothing to do with my dislike for Skyler. |

You don't have to follow the country world to know how Scotty is doing. They just presented him for an award for his success a few weeks on Idol. Idol hasn't done that in a few seasons. He's the most successful champion in years. If you like Philip that's fine. He's talented but he's the one who CAN'T win this season. They've had enough people like him win. He's a better version of Lee Dewyze. He's just as boring though. He takes the life out of every performance. He's just another coffee house performer that only dazzles when he catches lightning in a bottle with a different take on a song (which usually is lifted from another band or singer who has covered the song). If he wins, he will be forgotten within a week and his career will tank faster than you can say Taylor Hicks or Lee Dewyze. |
