To be fair, I will admit Skylar shouts more than she should. However, her vocal talent is far better than Kellie Pickler or Taylor Swift. She has a likable personality and at least she's interesting. Look at everyone outside of her and Hollie. They are boring as shit. Jessica and Joshua at least seem like nice people that you can find endearing so they have that going for them. There is always plenty of room for singers like a Skylar. She's one person who, if they won, would sell. That is the whole point of Idol. You want to find a successful recording artist. I liked Lauren alot. The problem with Lauren was she never showed GROWTH. In fact, she regressed. It took nearly losing her voice on finale night to get her to up her game and she still came nowhere close to her potential. She always shied away from the big notes and often relied heavily on personality and entertainment quality. Skylar at least goes for those notes and shows growth. Shes constantly testing her range. Yes, sometimes she pushes too much but I would rather see someone do that than not try at all. She had a rough week last week but the 3 weeks before, she was very good (especially on "Wind Beneath My Wings"). We'll see. I still hate that Colton left because he at least was interesting. The most interesting guy by far. I didn't like alot of what he did at the end but he was entertaining. He was the one guy that could've sold well and made for an interesting finale. |

The problem I see with both Skylar and Phillip is that they represent what this show has already had RECENTLY: The country crooner and the WGWG (I hate this acronym by the way  ). Skylar picks up where Scotty left off and Phillip is a mixture of the past 4 winners combined. I'm assuming the votes dictate the results but just in case the producers have SOME ability to step in, I cannot believe that they wouldn't want someone a bit different this time. Jessica or Joshua fit the bill for that I think.

Phillip is the ONE to win. Phillip's career WILL NOT tank like Taylor Hicks or Lee DeWyze. Taylor never had a career anyhow, Lee didn't much either. Lee and Crystal Bowersox were both victims of the end of IDOL's record deal ending with the previous recording company that thad the deal with IDOL, can't remember the company's name right now. |

It had been a wonderful evening and what I needed now, to give it the perfect ending, was a little of the Ludwig Van.

I was thinking that same thing. It also doesn't help that Hollie got the dreaded death spot. |

My Rankings TIED!! (1) Phillip Phillips-----although I wished he picked another song instead of his Brit Pick, "Time of the Season". F'ing loved his duet with Joshua surprisingly! (1) Jessica Sanchez ---- I think Randy's full of crap, J-Lo & Steven are right, she changed it up and did great on Ike & Tina Turner's "Proud Mary". On Joe Cocker's "You Are So Beautiful", she did a great job making it her own, def. could be a single for her. The new Whitney Houston, hmmm, a Phillipino Whitney Houston! (3) Joshua Ledet ---- again awesome with the Righteous Brother duet with Phillip. Pretty damn good on "Ain't Too Proud to Beg". IMHO, his 2 best performances to date and yet no standing O, what the hell?!?! On "To Love Somebody", more Michael Bolton version than Bee Gees, churchy sounding, not nearly as good as the 1st two performances, but ok. YET THE IDIOTIC JUDGES stand up for his worst performance of 3, I guess they just fucking love screaming and hollering, and he knows it since he does basically the same damned thing each and every song he sings almost! (4) Hollie Cavanagh --- good on her first song. better on "Bleeding Love". (5) Skylar Laine SUCKKKSSSSSS!! --- screaming, hollering, karoake. JUDGES you all need hearing aids. She is screeching and sucks! HOPEFULLY Skylar & Joshua are the bottom 2 and one of the 'em goes home with the judges pissed off, and then the other next week, then only the next! I really liked the Phillip and Joshua duet! I liked how they were joking around about it too. That was cute. The three girls singing together was pretty good too. I hope that either Jessica or Skylar go tomorrow. |

The Joshua/Phillip duet was overshadowed by Joshua. Phillip was awful in the duet as well as his own individual performances. |

Sure was. I saw ALOT of people jump off his bandwagon tonight. My niece, who loves him, even said she thought he was awful. Some think the last few weeks he's been trying to get himself voted off. I can believe that. I've never liked him despite his talent but he did seem to stop trying of late. He does the same thing every week now and it doesn't even feel like he puts much effort into it. He also can't sing melody AT ALL. Tonight was a solid night. I think the British Pop theme worked out better as the second round of songs were much better. The judges were totally a mess tonight but I suspect their agenda tonight was to be careful not to pimp anyone too much. To me, they were clearly gunning for Philip's ouster this week with him going second and placing him with Joshua on a duet. It's clear to me that they realize he needs to go. I was happy they only stood up once for Joshua tonight and it was actually DESERVED. They should've stood for Hollie and Jessica too on their second songs but I kind of get why they didn't. They don't want to pimp them too hard and get them sent home. Jimmy and Steven Van Zandt were hilarious. I would've preferred a more known mentor but they were entertaining. On to the performances in order of who I thought was best tonight: 1.) Hollie: She OWNED tonight IMO. Her first performance was solid and much better than her previous uptempo attempts. Her performance of "Bleeding Love" was STUNNING. I love the stripped down version. She did it her own way and NAILED it. Her best performance IMO. She had a classic "Idol moment" there. The judges should've stood for that but I get why they didn't. She really is gaining steam. I hope she stays. She did extremely well during the girls' group song too showing her range. 2.) Joshua: I've made it clear he's not a fave of mine BUT tonight he made a believer out of me. He showed more restraint on his screeching/upper register. His first performance wasn't great but was solid enough. He showed me he could be current with that song too. he could fit into the R&B niche and bring it back. His second performance was amazing IMO. He went for the high notes but didn't go too over the top. He showed restraint and I enjoyed that. His best performance for me of his. He deserved the standing ovation for that. He always chooses good songs too so props to him. He didn't do well on the duet with Philip BUT easily did better than Philip. The key was just too low for him given they had to lower it for Philip so the performance did nothing for him and even caused him to be pitchy. I felt bad for him on that performance but he did an ok job all things considered. 3.) Skylar: I'm a fan but I didn't particularly love her tonight. She was merely ok overall. Her first performance was solid enough. Good song choice and right in her wheelhouse. Southern rock is a good idea for her and the choice of song allowed her to show her strengths, which are performance quality and just belting out an uptempo song. She was in her element and she needed that after being in the bottom 3 last week. Her second performance was solid as well except I wish she did more with it and showed more of her range. She is capable as she has proven that several times this season. Also, the ending of that performance was way too abrupt. She was a little rough too on her parts in the group song so an average night for her IMO. 4.) Jessica: Not the best night for her. Her first performance was way too Vegas-like. It felt way too overdone and the dancing was distracting. She's proven to have performance quality in her own way. She didn't need to go so over the top just because J-Lo encouraged it. It threw her vocals off too IMO. The song was a little all over the place. I do like her showing more personality in her performances but also in interviews and clip packages. For a few weeks, she came off too robotic so good for her. Her second performance was AMAZING. Stunning. Very good vocal. Good song choice. She proved again that there is just something about singing while lying down on Idol that creates great performances (Fantasia, Katherine McPhee). Good for her. Again, the judges should've stood but I get why they didn't. They are being careful. Her role in the group song was a mixed bag. She did miss her extrance into the song but, aside from that, I thought she did ok. She's vulnerable tomorrow but I think and hope her second performance saves her. 5.) Philip: A FLAT OUT MESS!! He proved why he's VFTW's selection right now. Same old with him on both songs. He changed the song for his 1st performance way too much and, as he always does, he sucked the life out of it with both the way he changed it and the way he sang it. It was almost unrecognizable. He clearly tries to stay away from melody and the second performance of his showed why...because he can't sing it. His second performance was all over the place vocally, especially on the high notes. I noticed he took his ear piece out at the start of it. I wonder if we have Idol sabotage on that LOL but clearly something threw him off. I don't like him but that second performance was bad, even for him. The judges on both performances this week and last look like they want to say he sucks but don't want to rally his fans so they act like he's doing solid enough. His duet with Joshua was just a mess, especially on his end. The key was lowered for him, to Joshua's disadvantage, and he still sucked. He just made it so lifeless. I hate his performance quality especially. Ugh. Not sure what to make of Joshua and Philip after the duet. I took it as them joking around about the song and the awkwardness but I've seen alot of people taking it negatively and saying Philip and Joshua don't like each other and/or Joshua is a diva. I didn't see it that way but perspectives like that could hurt one or both in the voting. Here's who I THINK will be Bottom 3: Hollie, Jessica, Philip Here's who I THINK will go: ANY of the bottom 3 (I know that's a cop out but I just can't make a call. Skylar and Joshua are the only 2 I see as safe. Skylar will be helped alot by being in the bottom 3 last week. That will scare her fans into rallying for her. Philip should finally make an appearance in the bottom 3 as I think he will lose alot of casual fans/swing voters and that will be enough to drop him down a few slots.) Here's who SHOULD be Bottom 3: Skylar, Jessica, Philip Who SHOULD go home: Philip DialIdol currently has Philip last in DialIdol score AND busy percentage. The DialIdol score has accurately predicted everyone who has gone home since top 9 week ASIDE from the week Jessica was eliminated and saved. So, with Philip showing last right now, it's not looking good BUT given he has the young girl vote, he may have a high degree of text and online votes for him like Skylar seems to have. I really hope that he does go and I think it will help the show immensely. It will show people that we will finally have someone DIFFERENT as a winner and that the show isn't so predictable. The quality of the show will also improve too. We still have the West Coast to go as far as voting but, in the past, they've supported Skylar and Jessica pretty heavily. We'll see what happens. Jesus Christ, if it's a Jessica/Skylar finale it'll be 2 years in a row I SKIP. I really liked both of them in the beginning, but Jessica's sucky personality lost me, and Skylar is just boring me now with her hopping around and screeching. Over it. I miss Colton :( Joshua pissed me off tonight with his pushing Phillip away after their duet. Wtf was that? Dick. Hollie was a bazillion times better tonight than ever. I don't care, I love Phillip. While I agree with the poster who said Joshua is overrated ... most overrated ever? Umm ... **paging Adam Lambert** ... not quite ;) |

Joshua and Hollie owned last night. I didn't really care for the rest. I usually don't like Joshua and I don't like his personality, but I have to hand it to him. Philip sucked. |

I don't know why Randy is telling Philip that he needs to do more guitar. IMO, he needs to DITCH the guitar for a song and just prove to me he can sing. I'd appreciate him much more, honestly. It's the same thing with him every week, and it's gotten even more unbearable since he has been doing two a week. Skylar's personality is so fucking annoying. I don't know why people like her. |

I know one thing if Phillip goes, so do I, and for good. Sick of some of the crapiest singers getting in the Top, Skylar Screaching Lane, Jacob Gay Church Boy Screamer Ledet and Hollie weird accent Celine wannabe Cavanagh, getting so far ahead and praised. This show is a joke! |

I like Phillip as well...but he has become totally stale...he needs to seriously step it up. IMO he has the 4th best vocals left in the competition. |

I've been hard on Philip BUT if he at least tried to put himself out there a bit more, I think I could tolerate him more. I will give him this...his personality is showing more outside of his performances and that was needed. It just feels like he's been stuck in neutral for 3-4 weeks and like he doesn't care. He needs to offer up something different and show growth and he isn't doing that. He's talented but he's not really showing much. I'm pretty much the only one on here that likes Skylar but I wouldn't be upset if she goes just as long as Philip doesn't win LOL. I'm cool with anyone else winning. I'm coming around to Joshia after last night and Hollie is doing amazing and I love Jessica. This season hasn't had the larger than life personalities but the talent IMO has been better in terms of who has a chance to win (last year I could only see 3 with a chance to win, this year any of the top 5 can IMO). It's far more unpredictable and that makes it fun. We haven't had a season like this in years and it was needed. If last night is any indication, the performance quality should keep getting better. Everyone seems to be upping their game and trying to have a moment, which makes for a great end to the season. |

Gotta love Idol's intense intro packages LOL. Wow, so we already get right to results? That's different. Joshua was good but Jimmy and the judges need to cool it. I also think Jimmy mentioning the fact he and Joshua will be making a record is not going to help either. People may not vote, figuring he may not need to win. Joshua is safe...he deserves it. So far, so good. |
