It had been a wonderful evening and what I needed now, to give it the perfect ending, was a little of the Ludwig Van.

So the Top 10 are...

Guys
Phil Phillips
Joshua Ledet
Heejun Han
Colton Dixon
Jermaine "Gentle Giant" Jones

Girls
Jessica Sanchez
Hollie Cavanagh
Shannon Magrane
Skylar Laine
Elise Testone

The wild card spots should be interesting.

I think they need to add Adele to the list of female singers you don't do on idol, cuz NOBODY can come even close to being as good as Adele.

I'm happy with the people who made it through. I don't like most of them but at least there were no undeserved cuts. The biggest shock for me was Eben not making it through. Even though he butchered Adele, I thought for sure he would get the tween vote and sail right through to the Top 5.

That was the first thing I thought of when they said that. I remember Mariah week a couple of seasons back. The guys did well and the girls didn't because they were trying to out sing Mariah.

I was happy Erika made it as a wild card. We never really had a rocker girl that had a decent chance to go far. I think she has potential.

Pretty good group overall. My favorites are Phillip, Colton, Elise, Erika, Jessica, and Hollie. Jeremy is pretty good too.

I think Jermaine is going to be the one that sticks around and bothers me this season. He seems like a really nice guy, but I am not a fan of his singing style and they give him way too much praise.

I was hoping that Creighton would make it. I am so glad that they didn't put Brielle though. I don't like her or her mom!

I think Elise did the best job with an Adele song. Brielle...WOW...horrible...same goes for Eben!

I think the Top 10 was perfect, though I might have swapped out Shannon for Jeni Hirsch, but I can live with that...I thought Shannon waas the 7th best of the girls.

The top 5 boys America picked were SPOT ON...did not like them picking drama queen DeAndre for the wild card, this guy is massively overrated and will not go far. His spot should have went to Reed Grimm or Adam Brock. Jeremey making it was eh, yah ok, whatever, good...nice guy...but he won't go far either.

LOVED them sending Erica back in, but I wanted Jen Hirsch to make it too, instead of either of the guys who made it.

SO glad Brielle did not make it...she destroyed "Someone Like You" by Adele.

Oh and for the Haley haters...no one this year with top these performances, they were IMO, two of the best in idol history:

Oh Mitch, the only other die hard Haley fan here other than myself. Americans were idiots last season! "I (Who Have Nothing)" and Katharine McPhee's "Somewhere over the Rainbow" are IMO, the two best performances in Idol history.

Haley was a fighter who defended herself, definitely not a Bitch. Randy and Jennifer disliked her from the jump. They were goo-goo for Scotty and Lauren and made sure Haley didn't win. Lauren couldn't hit high notes to save her life and she was never criticized and Scotty never stepped out of his comfort zone and didn't receive one bad word the whole competition.

Hell, even idol's vocal coach Debra Byrd took up for her.

"I have to laugh [about Randy Jackson and Jennifer Lopez's criticisms] ... It's tough, especially when there are four [contestants], and you sing your
face off, and you're the one that's told, 'Ehh, everybody was great except you. Her skin is getting tougher, and I have to say we have a lot of talks
about this. It's a learning process for her as it would be for anyone who's going through that kind of thing. It's not like she folds and crumbles. It
becomes a fighter's mentality and I applaud for her it. Because you either do that or you die. Those are your choices. And she has no plans of
dying on the vine."

BTW her first single from her new album comes out March 20th

Agree about "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" and "I Who Have Nothing" being the top 2 performances in Idol history.

Jennifer wanted someone with as much vocal talent as herself to win last year...and that certainly happened. Haley blew the competition OUT of the water and Americans sadly fell for that "same old song and dance" bullshit from the judges.

Her new kicks some serious ass...can't wait for the video!

Finally have a chance to comment. I was shocked that Eben didn't make it via the public vote. Really shocked. No matter how bad he was, I thought he had a strong enough fanbase like past similar contestants (like David Archuleta). I was even more shocked he wasn't picked to at least compete for a wild card but, given who the judges picked, I'm thinking the judges are being VERY careful this season with who they put through. It's clear they want a girl to win so they are trying to position everything so not only a girl wins but the girls they want to be in the mix end up being in the mix. Looking back on it, I'm shocked they didn't just leave Eben behind before the live shows like they did David Leathers Jr. I was convinced they left him behind because of the rules so he can come back next year. Now, I think they may do as Jimmy suggested and change the rules so Eben and some of the others cut this week can come back. There were some names that ordinarily would've went through but didn't because there were just so many good people this season (Jen Hirsh, for instance).

I've noticed in recent years some of the contestants the show hypes end up not making it through to top 12/13, which is a departure from past seasons. I like it. It makes it more unpredictable. For instance, I thought Hallie Day was a shoe-in a few weeks ago but I think her rather cold personality and the fact that so many younger girls came on strong pushed her out of favor with them so they didn't go out of their way to hype her anymore figuring the audience wouldn't rally behind her. I think that is why the judges didn't select her to compete for a wild card either. Same with Adam and Creighton. Adam had the personality but I think his age, much like Creighton and Hallie, played a role.

I was shocked Jermaine made it through, especially at Eben's expense. I was also shocked Reid didn't get through based on how the judge's liked him and hyped him. I'm happy he didn't because while he is talented, he annoyed the hell out of me and could've been another Taylor Hicks only more talented instrumentally. I hate that they selected him to even complete for a wild card but he was one of their faves and, from the judge's comments, it came off like they were just giving him one last performance rather than seriously considering him.

The wild card was fairly predictable. The only unpredictable part was whether they would take Jen or Erika. You knew DeAndre would go through no matter how good he did and you knew Jeremy would go through (especially after that emotional performance, which admittedly had me in tears) because Jennifer loves him and he's this year's contestant whose elimination later in the season will be one of the season's big emotional moments. They like that so they kept him. He has a good voice but we know he isn't winning and he won't sell. Was it just me or did it seem like they just had Brielle sing because they knew it would be bad and they wanted to bash her just to stick it to her controlling, over the top stage mom? Brielle was the only contestant they were that hard on. Now, they were right in that she was terrible but it's not like she was every very good so it came off like they purposely set her up to me as a way to take a jab at her mom.

In a way, Jen should've made it over Erika but I understand why they went with Erika. Jen's great but Erika brings a different element to the table. I think Jen gets lost in the shuffle a bit. I like both though so I'm ok with this.

The other results were predictable and right on the money IMO. I would've liked Hee Jun not to make it but he probably has a good fanbase given some find him entertaining. He's got a nice voice but his shtick is beyond stale now. I also have to say this again after saying it all season last year...MAKE JIMMY A JUDGE!! I want him actively working with the contestants but, damn, he is the new Simon Cowell only he provides much more constructive criticism than Simon ever did. He NAILED every critique Thursday night and I was happy the show decided to let him comment on everyone in the top 25. I don't think they did that last year. I loved what he said about Hee Jun (who annoys me as well) not taking it seriously. He gave some contestants a reality check and did so for the judges, who really have to up their game. This group is a very talented group. You need to help them continue to grow. CRITICIZE!! Do your job, judges! I did have to laugh at Randy justifying the judge's overpraising the boys by blaming it on it being the first live show. What difference does that make? They probably found out how wrong they were to praise the boys as much as they did and took it on the chin from everyone over it so they backtracked to avoid being humiliated by Jimmy anymore than they were.

Anyway, awesome group of talent. This, to me, is the deepest top 13 in terms of talent ever. I think any one of the girls aside from Erika and Elise can win it. I only see one guy who can win it and that's Philip and, while I like him, I really hope the judge's are careful not to use the save on a guy this year especially someone like Philip. He's the same kind of winner they've had over the past few seasons and they don't need that. You need to do what is right but it's in the show's best interest for a girl to take it. They have options this year and I think they positioned themselves well to have a girl win providing they play their cards right. I just hope they use the save wisely, especially after last season's debacle. The girl I'm worried about is Jessica. She has the voice and everything else it takes but, to me, she has shock elimination written all over her. She's peaked very early and she got very little exposure until now, sort of like Pia last year. She has all the signs of someone who will go home earlier than they should so they better hold on to that save for someone like her. I expect Skylar to sail into at least top 3 given she will have the country fanbase as well as teen girls likely behind her, much like Lauren last year only unlike Lauren she won't have to split the country fanbase with Scotty or rely on his fans to get her through. I also think Shannon will get into at least top 5 with all the time they spent hyping her. To me, she could be this year's Carrie Underwood given her voice but she needs to avoid singing too many ballads. She hasn't done that yet but her comments suggest she likes singing them.

I also like that the guys and girls are getting different themes this week instead of forcing guys to sing Whitney songs. They should do more of that. I look forward to the girls because those girls should be able to belt out Whitney songs and I think Stevie Wonder songs will be good for some of the guys. Should be good, especially now that the contestants will be working with Jimmy and his people now. The competition truly begins now!

Man, Phoenix...that was an essay to read...where do you find the time to type that up...lol...but I agree with pretty much everything you said.

Especially the part about Brielle and making her sing to stick it to her mom...they probably knew what song she was going to sing and wanted to see her embrass herself on live TV.

You should know how prone I am to long posts by now  .

That is especially true now with my not being around as much. I have to catch up with the rest of you so I have to post everything when I can.

Anyway, I can't believe how many are singing Adele songs this year. There is way too much of that and way too many singing "Georgia" this year as well. I've become sick of hearing those songs as a result.

Ugh, I am not a fan of Stevie Wonder. He has a few good songs, but nobody sang those! They should have had the guys do Michael Jackson or even Lionel Richie.

Elise was so bad tonight. I really liked her last week though. I don't think Whitney's music is good for her voice. Shannon wasn't that great either.

Jessica and Hollie were so good! I really liked Phillip (I was hoping he do something else though), Colton, and Erika too.

Why did Jennifer say she thought Phillip would have trouble with a Stevie Wonder song?? He sang "Superstition" during his audition!
