Yep Jack being in this type of therapy setting and being so clearly traumatized by what has happened to him, while Jennifer is running around Salem weeping about Daniel's shaky hand syndrome and barking like a dog at Nicole/EJ...just paints her as incredibly heartless/shrewish/undeserving of Jack's love and devotion. Not only that, but Abigail being so incredibly absent from Jack's life while she is trying to break up Caustin's marriage, certainly won't be winning her any daughter of the year awards....Abigail and Jennifer are two of the most selfish characters on this show...their treatment of Jack is appalling, DISGUSTING! Its is almost shocking that MarDar are sort of oblivious to how their writing of Jack is making Jennifer come off to the fans that have grew up loving her....almost everyone I know HATES Jennifer with the heat of a 1000 suns...she is BEYOND all recognition at this point and Melissa Reeves has bordered on the Alison Sweeney territory of terrible/atrocious acting. Today was definietly a case of a show displaying two very different faces (one beautiful and the other horrible disfigured/ugly) in the same episode...the contrast was quite alarming IMO! I want them back together too but not with this Jennifer. It's sad because they really could have written her to be the strong, supportive one but instead we get this Jennifer, who is being written so out of character that it's just plain sad. I do agree with all in that they really should have had an entire episode with Jack, Marlena and the vets. It almost cheapened what they were attempting to do. In the grand scheme of things, I think it would have been the right thing to do. |

No need to apologize. I feel much the same way. I don't want this Jennifer with this Jack. He's outstripped her by light years--his time in Afghanistan was like a crucible, burning away everything but what is most essential. Jack is a flawed person, no question--but he's also smart, brave, loyal, and tougher than he realizes. Jennifer, by contrast, comes across as childish, superficial, fickle, and self-absorbed. Jack's grown in the last year, and Jennifer hasn't. And unless she does grow and evolve, somehow, they're not going to be a good fit. It's sad, but it happens. |

ITA! I don't want J&J reunion. Haven't seen the episode yet. :tears: Forgot to DVR it, so I have to wait for YouTube clips. These scenes sound amazing. Culliton delivers again! Maybe the Cullitons should be the new headwriters? From what I am hearing, I am totally up for seeing Jack with Pat. I want to see Jack with ANYONE! MA has great chemistry with AZ and both DHs. I really want to see Jack build a life for himself away from Jennifer. Therefore, I don't even want to see Jennifer jealous of Jack's new friendships/relationships. I don't care about Jen-Jen at all. And I am tired of MA being used as a prop to create contrived Jennifer angst. This Jennifer is too shallow to experience real angst. MarDar and MR can't redeem Jennifer as they think she is peachy keen. So please keep Dannifer away from Jack&Pat or Jacole! |

What a wonderful performance by Matt Ashford. The vet scenes were very, very good. The rest of the episode seemed like filler, and I couldn't wait until they got back to Jack and the vets. |

Simply put...this episode broke.my.heart. When Jack said "It doesn't feel like home." I wanted to find Jennifer and shake her into submission. I don't think Pat will be a romantic interest but I do think she will cause Jennifer to think she is. She and Jack will be around town talking and Jennifer will see it and automatically think they're dating because she's currently not deep enough to think it could be anything else. And when she finds out they're not is when the sparks will fly. I think we that's when we may see Jack make some kind of statement where he tells her she has no right to get jealous if he DOES happen to date someone else...she didn't want him. TPTB need to watch this episode and realize that this is how Jack exists on this show without Jennifer. That Matt Ashford makes Jack interesting on his own. Give him something deep and interesting to do and.....gold. |

Oh, I can't wait until I see the youtube clips tomorrow!!! Looking at the spoiler clips - Matt Ashford looks HOT!!!! And I love his obvious discomfort in the first scene. And how vain is SJB? Why is she sleeveless when everyone else is dressed for winter? She looks ridiculous!!! Wardrobe really has to put their foot down with her. I've read interviews that SJB had very strong ideas about her wardrobe - so I blame her for Madison's ridiculous outfits. |

Jennifer really does look even worse after this episode...and she was already coming across as pretty bad. These strangers took the time to listen and understand Jack and were compassionate enough to shake his hand, give him a hug and let him know they were in his corner. And when Marlena hugged him and he just let go for a minute, that was a beautiful moment. Too bad his wife couldn't give him even a fraction of that understanding. This makes her look incredibly self-centered. Daniel, Jack's rival, has been a better friend to him than Jennifer. I just do not understand how she can be so cold and uncaring towards him, knowing what he's been through. Marlena looked stunning in that red dress. Brady, however, looked frightening, especially when he smiled and we saw those ultra white teeth shining in that orange face. Apparently Daniel left his spray tanner behind and Brady found it. |

She did. There was something wrong there. Can you fall asleep in a tanning bed? (I've never been.) Spray tan misfire? |

Jennifer has to be the biggest loser out of the new writing regime on DAYS - I wonder if MR realises that Jennifer has lost a lot of fans in recent times? Probably not - she's too busy pimping her great on screen relationship with SC. :puke: :puke: Yes, I couldn't agree more that MA should be used far more often on DAYS, AND in a SL that doesn't involve that self-centered bitch Jennifer. And, Marlena's compassion for Jack stands in stark contrast to his ex-wife's coldness. Edited by Evan, Jan 26 2012, 05:32 PM.

Me three! The contrast between Daniel's Interminable Goodbye on Monday and Jack's Wrenching Group Therapy Session today was like night and day. From the ridiculous to the sublime. And Jennifer's being all over the former and nowhere in sight during the latter sinks her beyond redemption in my book, although I was also relieved not to be distracted by her sour face and mopey attitude. |

Hmm I noticed some redness on Eric's neck. Looks like he had a sunburn and applied extra make-up to cover it up but he looked horrible. |

Seeing Jack having to go through such a traumatic experience is heartbreaking and knowing that Jennifer is not there to support him is even worse. This is how a soap is written. Yes, Jennifer getting a bad rap here, was completely expected. I honestly think that TPTB created this unrecognizable Jennifer for the viewers to hate. No amount of bad writing could ever be done without intention and purpose to defile the character of one of Days' most beloved. No other reason makes sense. What I am seeing is a complete character switch, for Jen and Jack. In a previous post, I loved how the comparison was made to, Jack being an offender and now a victim, where Jennifer was once the victim and is now the offender. This statement is so true to what is being written and what is being portrayed on screen. I am certain that this was the intent. No actor/actress puts up with this type of derailment, personally and professionally, without previous knowledge, understanding and acceptance. Jennifer would be the last character we'd expect this type of beviour from, but it would be accepted if say, it was Nicole or Sami. This whole whoopla, just make this epi more powerful and brings more sympathy and compassion for Jack's character. It will also make whatever comes next in the SL, just that much better. The obstacles of your past can become the gateways that lead to new beginnings, for both of them.

While I thought the support group scenes were well done, I was really bothered by it. I believe these were real vets. Seeing them have to be supportive to a ficitional character and story just seems wrong. Jack shouldn't have opened up. These people have real scars and injuries (but physical and mental), and the writing made it all about something fake. |

There have (sadly) been many journalists kidnapped and tortured overseas. Jack wasn't possessed by the devil and he didn't have a chip put in his brain. I'd offer that Days did this to draw attention to the plight of those like "Jack" as well as to the situation of vets such as the actual ones featured in those scenes. |

I think it may also have been to demonstrate the universality of PTSD. Anyone who's been through a life-changing trauma can suffer from it, not just military personnel--and all who suffer from it are deserving of compassion, support, and understanding. The fictional element didn't bother me--this is a daytime drama, not a documentary. |

I don't think the vets would have participated if they had thought it was being dismissive of them. I thought the scenes were well done. Several of my coworkers are usually shouting at the tv throughout the show every day but they even got quiet during these scenes. So much so that another coworker popped his head in to see if we were all right! |
