Quoting limited to 4 levels deep
From what I've seen to date . . . I'm going with totally ineffective storytellers.
I'm going to ditto that. As interesting as it would be to think they're raising the stakes for the EJ reveal (at the moment he seems to be the only person who's really going to lose out when the secret is revealed as he's written as being very in love with Nicole) I don't see the writers doing it. From what we've seen of their work, the reveals or resolutions have all be anti-climactic. Daniel being Maggie's son, John's free from prison, Johnny coming out from under the table...the only shocking things they've done was the deadbaby sex and revealing that it was Will and not Lucas who shot EJ - neither of which have been utilized properly or sparked much story after. Hell they don't even tell us how EJ found out about Will, it's scripted that it doesn't matter...lame. So many possibilities, all falling flat. I see the same for the beastsex reveal, no stakes so no fallouts.
I agree that everything that's come from these writers is anticlimatic. However, when Rafe finds out about Beastsex, I do think that will have major consequences for him and Sami. He won't feel as guilty for having an attraction to Carrie because that attraction started AFTER Sami fucked EJ, and all of Sami's guilt has been undermining SAFE's relationship Rafe can rationalize that the reason he started to gravitate toward Carrie was because SAMI was acting weird. All true. He can shift blame back to Sami where most (tho not all) of it belongs. It's still wrong for Rafe to swap spit with his sister in law, but Sami's misdeeds were far worse.

What's even more disappointing is that MARLENA hasn't even given SAMI a beatdown even though she knows about beastsex. That in and of itself is just a total writer FAIL.
The thing is Rafe doesn't know Sami fucked EJ. As far as he knows she has been a true and faithful wife to him. Sure he knows something isn't quite right, but he thinks it's really all connected to her job, not having sex with another man. At this point, all he and Carrie know is that they are being the cheaters, not Sami or Austin. Rafe shouldn't feel less guilty, IMO, just b/c this thing with Carrie happened after Sami screwed EJ. He is a married man; Carrie is a married woman. He renewed his vows with Sami promising to be true to her, telling her he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her, and then, a month later he is swapping spit with her sister? He deserves to feel guilty b/c his actions have also caused a problem with their marriage and put a distance between them.

Tuesday ("Carrie and Sami Have It Out in a Major Way")
Carrie and Sami fight about their painful history; Abigail devises a scheme involving Austin.
I'm more interested in Abby's crazy Austin-scheme than I am about Carrie and Sami fighting. I guess I'm just getting tired of 'been there done that' storylines that played out better 10 years ago. I get why they're fighting, but I'm bored.

Hate to say it - but this stupid Abby storyline is just a rehash of the Sami storyline years ago. Also, played way better by Ali Sweeney btw who didn't have the little miss innocent look of Abby. I hope that Austin isn't so naive this time. Also, I think Abby pulling Mel in means she tells Mel everything - much like Sami told her best friend the angelic Jamie everything. However, unlike Jamie, Melanie won't keep it to herself, since keeping secrets is not one of her strong points. Woah - can't wait to see Jennifer and Jack come down on Abby - totally different scenario than Roman and Marlena doing the same thing to Sami. Roman and Marlena have a lot of guilt and blame Sami's behavior partly on themselves for being gone so long. Jack's been gone, but never long enough to cause Sami quality damage! That and Jen has WAY more gumption than Marlena has ever had. It took Marlena until 2006 to ever really tell Sami off! Jennifer on the other hand won't flinch to tell Abby off, spank her, and then lock her in her room for a thousand years, until she apologizes to Austin and makes everything right - something Sami NEVER had to do. To this day, Sami's crap is still in between the sisters and always will be.

LOL, I've been wondering the same thing myself. It's either because I've watched it for so long that I can't completely quit or that Days is like a car wreck and I just can't look away even though I should.

I would hope Marlena isn't as immature as Sami and doesn't need to throw that in her face.

She actually loves her daughter, even though her daughter's an ass.
Love doesn't mean ignoring a loved one's faults and flaws, and parenting certainly doesn't. Sami may be an adult (the jury's still out given her maturity level), but that doesn't mean Marlena can't or shouldn't speak to her about her self-destructive and selfish behavior, especially when Sami has spent nearly two decades rationalizing and justifying every shitty thing she's ever done on the basis that her mother committed adultery. For Marlena to have NO discussion with her about it is just as disappointing and unrealistic and as much bad storytelling as it was for Marlena to not be allowed to question her daughter in 2008 about how and why she had voluntarily had sex with a man she had just spent a year or more insisting to everyone who would listen had raped her. Parents sometimes have to have unpleasant conversations with their children, even grown ones, and given that Sami herself is allegedly feeling bad because she broke the same Commandment her mother did, to not talk about it at all is just awful soap.
Marlena has been trying to get Will to confront Sami himself. She wouldn't rip into Sami about it because she is protecting Will. Once she knows that Will sonfronted Sami...then i wanna see some shit lol

Because you should always go to a bartender for advice.

Oh, what have they done to my favorite Kayla?

I hate how they brought Kayla back, really she's done nothing. I hope that she'll be on more and actually have a story ! She deserves that.

Awesome! Kayla is a good advice giver. And, she was involved with her sister's ex-husband, and she did marry her current (as far as we know) husband's brother, so she has some familiarity with the situation that Rafe finds himself in. Sort of. Although I'm pretty sure her advice will consist of something along the lines of "If you love Sami, then fight for her" since that would be a very Kayla thing to say.

Personally, I'd rather she find Caroline's wooden club and just randomly whack some of Salem's finest across the head. Hmm . . . maybe I can a NT Kayla storyline.

Yes... that room... it must be renovated by now... remember when Carrie and Austin wanted it, it was under construction.

Maybe Rafe could get a job at the pub... and work with Kalya....mmmm

Why is he looking to Kayla for advice? This is the EXACT reason why I did not want Kayla back, she serves no purpose.
