I think I like where the Jack/Jen story is heading.
There's a Jack/Jen story? Where?
Jenn's life slowly spiraling & Jack getting an alli in Abby. It's moving forward and today was the first day I finally sensed a forward progression in their story. And if I'm right about J&J's role reversal (which is what I've been hoping is what will eventually happen) then I'm excited about that. There's potential for some great storytelling it it goes in that direction-- that is, if the writers don't stall the storyplot more then they already have.
ITA. Since Jack is no longer concerned with winning her back, he was able to see her in a more honest light and treated her accordingly.

For the first time in a very LOOOOONG time, we've gotten some explanation for what the hell is going on in Jennifer's head. She gave a concrete, believable reason for why she had such an OTT reaction to Abby's news. Jack's reaction to her today has been Jack's reaction to her since he got back, only now that it was pointed at someone else besides him it gave him the latitude to ask her wtf her damn problem was.
While I did think her protests were stupid (not every model becomes a cigarette smoking anorexic) after she explained that it came from a place of fear, I got it.

I felt some sympathy for her where I haven't in the past when she's been losing it on Jack for some stupid shit she had conjured up in her head. It also didn't irritate me that she named Daniel...he is after all, a loss to her and he just left a few days ago. I paid more attention to the fact that her LAST (and seemingly hardest to get out) person named was Jack. Not to mention it seemed to me like she was blaming herself for losing those she named. She wasn't around when Alice passed, she lost Daniel because she was stupid and we all know why she lost Jack. FINALLY Jennifer seems to be taking some responsibility for what went on between them.

She's having some serious issues right now and it's good to see her being a little more self aware and introspective, even if the moment was fleeting.

And I found Matt hilarious today. His looking back and forth between them while they were going off was SO my father it cracked me up. He had no idea what had constituted this blow up. He is definitely the father of teenage girls.

I loved the little Jack details:

--His comment about "The Horton Couch." At least one person respects furniture on the show!
--His whiplash reaction as he jumped from Jennifer's side to Abby's and back again.
--His tracking down of Abigail through following her phone! Hilarious!! That is soooo what modern dad Jack would do--and it explains why he was so determined to replace Abigail's lost phone after the hostage situation.
--His climb over the back of the couch to join Abigail--so playful to balance out his serious dad role.

Love Jack!

I liked the little historical/academic details. Jack referenced both Neville Chamberlain and General Custer in casual conversation. And who but Jack would use the word "eunuch" in a sentence and expect his listeners to understand exactly what he meant by it?

Great JnJ Epi! Couple of interesting comments. I like TPTB giving Jack and Jen a 'mom & dad' feel and showing us a friendship that exist between them.

Jack as voice of reason and no longer grovelling and swooning at Jennifer's feet.
Jennifer: 'I'm listening....always Jack'.... such on odd comment.

Jack saying 'we may have messed up our lives from time to time, but we haven't mess up our kids, they are good kids'..... now this might just come back and bite him in the ass. Esp. when they find out about Abby scheming and lying about sleeping with Austin, they are going to see just how messed up she is.

Jennifer better wake up.... she cries about losing Alice/Gram.... Daniel.... and Jack..... JACK.... YOU DIDN'T LOSE JACK..... HE IS STANDING RIGHT THERE IN FRONT OF YOU. HE'S MAY HAVE BEEN LOST... BUT NOW HE IS FOUND....AND IS THERE FOR YOU! --- okay I didn't see any real sign of Jennifer's mental frailty......more acturately, signs of a nervous breakdown. They fixed her hair and clothes.... ppl losing touch using don't pay attention to these details. Not sure TPTB that be are going this route.

What is a Nervous Breakdown?
A nervous breakdown can be described as an acute emotional or psychological collapse. It generally occurs when a person is unable to function in social roles anymore, experiencing severe depression or feelings of being out of touch with reality. This often occurs after a long period of stress which has not been adequately dealt with. This inability to function can occur in both work and personal arenas, resulting in difficulty in fulfilling obligations. A person experiencing symptoms of a nervous breakdown may feel extreme tiredness, weakness, episodes of uncontrollable crying, confusion, disorientation and feelings of worthlessness. There may also be a loss of self-esteem and confidence, extreme weight loss or weight gain, disrupted sleep patterns and feelings of guilt and despair.
Jennifer's not being able to choose which man she wants to be with could be interpreted as a failure to fulfill an obligation. Both men deserved to know where they stood with her, and she kept both of them in limbo until they both had enough and walked away. And let's not even get started on how she's failed to stand by Jack during his therapy as a wife, a friend, or even a concerned co-parent. She's not functioning that well as Abe's campaign manager, either. Until Abe himself came up with the idea of switching debate questions, Team Carver was being whipped by Team DiMera regularly. We've heard she's going to veer even further off-course and start lying to get votes, which is something else she wasn't hired to do. She cries continually over losing Alice, Daniel, Jack, and now possibly Abigail. She was deeply stung by Nicole's accusation that she chased Jack and Daniel off, which could count as a blow to her self-esteem. Most of the time, she seems to be either morose or bitchy, seldom showing pleasure or happiness. And to be fair, she has had a stressful year: a dead grandmother, a husband who was MIA and now has PTSD, heart surgery, a hasty divorce, a boyfriend who dumps her whenever he feels insecure (which is about every other week), a change of careers, and now a rebellious college-age daughter.

The full collapse might not have taken place yet, but I get the feeling that Jennifer is circling the drain.
Great post!! ITA with all points made. Hoping to see her on an emotional roller coaster.... that takes her down this road.
Here's hoping that Jack doesn't blame himself for Jen's impending meltdown, or worse that SHE blames him for abandoning her when she needed him most.Or that Abigail and thus Jen blame Jack's absence for Abigail's obsession with an older man, that she was starved for a male role model...blah blah blah That would be BAD!!!1
