The Big Kiss-Off

Sami's world falls apart when she walks in on her hubby, Rafe, kissing her sister, Carrie.

"Oh, my gosh, it's unbelievable," says Alison Sweeney (Sami). "She just had that fight with Will where he told her he saw her and EJ having sex, so she goes there to be honest with Rafe about what happened with EJ. That's her intention. Whatever Sami's thinking about, when she walks in that door and sees them kissing, her guilt and her infidelity completely fly out of her mind. It's the last thing she's thinking about in that moment. All she can think about is seeing them kissing. And Passionately, I might add."

Sami is understandably devastated by the turn of events. "She's shocked and angry, and it's clear from the manner in which they're kissing that they're both very engaged in it," sighs Sweeney. "It's not just Carrie throwing herself at Rafe, which she would try and talk herself into believing. She's heartbroken and embarrassed and pissed off all at the same time."

Rafe and Carrie try to explain what led them to kiss, but Sami isn't interested. "They immediately start falling over themselves with some stupid excuse about a case that they won," scoffs the actress. "I don't think she hears any of that. She just immediately is like, 'I know why this is happening.' She feels that Carrie is very motivated to get even with Sami for what Sami has done to her in the past. As far as Rafe, Sami is heartbroken that he would betray her."

Austin arrives and is quickly clued in to what is going on. He lunges for Rafe, but Carrie steps in and defends her business partner, which infuriates her husband. Sami and Rafe head back to the loft, where she hurls their framed wedding photo at him and tells him to get out. "She can't get past it," explains Sweeney. "She says to him, 'I know you enough to know you would not be kissing someone without having feelings for them.' She can't let go of him having feelings for her sister."

Neither can Rafe, apparently. "Rafe is having a hard time with it," admits his portrayer, Galen Gering. "He has these feelings for Carrie. I think that the kiss was born out of excitement, but also clearly because there was an attraction between them. They were celebrating and it finally happened, but it's something that shouldn't have happened. Rafe knows that. Rafe has never cheated on a girlfriend of his wife. He's freaked out by it."

A guilt-ridden Rafe tries to work things out with his spouse. "That's where her infidelity comes into play in the fight," says Sweeney. "He says these wonderful things like, 'I don't deserve you' and 'I'm going to make this right' and 'I'm so sorry,' and all this stuff -- and that's when she realizes that she doesn't deserve him and it's better off if it's over. She doesn't kick him out, but that's how he perceives it. To her, it's just that she can't talk about this anymore. She can't admit her guilt. It's not because of what he did; it's everything that has gone on between them."

Rafe heads to his office to get some perspective. Meanwhile, Austin and Carrie have an argument over the kiss, and Austin storms out of their place. He winds up in a bad situation with Abigail, which is sure to impact the future of the Reeds. The next morning, Carrie arrives at work and discovers that Rafe has spent the night there. The two discuss what transpired between them. "He thinks maybe it is a good idea to quit," says Gering. "Rafe basically tells Carrie, 'I can't trust myself. I can't trust you.'" Carrie is also conflicted about her feelings for her brother-in-law. "It's a question of conscience for Rafe," notes Gering. "If Rafe thought it would never happen again, then he'd put his foot down, to a certain degree, if he could. But I think there is some doubt there for Rafe that maybe it could happen again. Maybe worse things could happen. Why put himself in that situation? The business isn't doing that well and it's putting a strain on his marriage. What is more important to Rafe? Ultimately, it's his marriage."

Back at the loft, Will learns that Rafe has moved out and lays into his mother. "Will sees it as the ultimate hypocrisy," declares Chandler Massey. "Sami is hiding the fact that she slept with another man and then walks in on Rafe kissing another woman and kicks him out of his place. What Rafe did is nothing compared to what Sami did. Any logical person would think there was something wrong with how she's acting."

But Sami doesn't see it the same way. "She knows exactly what Will is going through because she went through the same thing," Sweeney observes. "He is just not even trying to understand what she's been through or what her perspective of it is. She really does feel like it was this crazy thing and she literally was insane from the grief over thinking she was losing Johnny. She really feels that's what happened and that he should understand that, but he doesn't. Her heart breaks for him. She loves him so much and she hates that he has been mad at her and blaming her for and that, whatever else he's going through, he can't confide in her and she can't be there for him because of what she's done. That is one instance in which she does feel very guilty and is very aware of what her infidelity with EJ caused her."

By week's end, a frustrated Will seem poised to tell Rafe the truth about Sami and EJ...

Sister Wives

Sami and Carrie haven't had a close relationship ever since Sami began her teen scheming in 1993 to get Austin away from Carrie. In 1995, Sami drugged Austin and slept with him. When she turned up pregnant, Sami interrupted Austin and Carrie's wedding and revealed that Austin was the father. (She left out the fact that she had also slept with Lucas, who actually turned out to be Will's biological father.) Austin ping-ponged between both women until 2006, when he and Carrie tied the knot. Now, the tables have turned and it's Sami's hubby in the middle of the triangle. "Leading up to the kiss, there may have been tiny moments where she thinks Carrie should get off her man, but it was very subtle," reflects Sweeney. "She just always feels that way about her sister, suspicious and a little competitive. Sami is an insecure person and she has never had a great relationship with her sister, given all the things that Sami has done."

Sami Kicks Rafe Out!

Sami walks in on Rafe kissing Carrie and loses control. "Sami is angry at Rafe," previews Galen Gering. "But there is also bad blood between the two sisters." Rafe and Carrie try to explain that they got excited after winning a case and were swept up in the moment. Sami refuses to accept their explanation and blasts them. Her fury triggers an unexpected response in Carrie, who charges that her kiss with Rafe is minor compared to the outrageous stunts Sami has pulled on her in the past.

Austin walks in and overhears them talking about Rafe and Carrie's kiss. He tears into Rafe, but Carrie steps between them and defends Rafe. When Sami and Rafe leave, Austin asks Carrie if she has feelings for Sami's hubby. Her response leaves him cold. Meanwhile, at the loft, Rafe tries to talk Sami down. She grabs a framed photo of their wedding and hurls it against the wall. Rafe tables the discussion until Sami is thinking more clearly."

The next day, Sami demands that Rafe quit working with Carrie. "Sami wonders how she can trust them together," explains Gering. "Rafe thinks that maybe Sami has a point."

Rafe is also struggling with his attraction to Carrie. "The kiss was born out of excitement, but clearly there was also an attraction between Rafe and Carrie," concedes Gering. "They were celebrating and it finally happened, but it's something that shouldn't have happened. Rafe has never cheated on a girlfriend or his wife. He's freaked out by it."

Later, Rafe announces to Carrie that he is quitting. "It's a question of conscience for Rafe," reasons Gering. "If Rage thought it would never happen again, then he'd put his foot down with Sami and keep his job. I think Rafe has some doubt that it could happen again. Maybe something worse could happen, so Rafe tells Carrie 'I can't trust myself and I can't trust you.'"

By week's end, Sami informs Rafe that she can't forgive what happened and demands that he move out. Will overhears them talking and is outraged at his mom. "Will sees it as the ultimate hypocrisy," states his portrayer, Chandler Massey. "Sami is hiding the fact that she slept with another man, and then walks in on Rafe kissing another woman and kicks him out of his place? What Rafe did is nothing compared to what happened between Sami and EJ. It's almost like she's feeling guilty for what she did and is looking for an excuse to separate from Rafe."

Stupid excuse? I have always screwed male co-workers whenever I get a favorable ruling. This article is making it sound like this isn't the norm. And here I thought my husband would be understanding . . . oh well, c'est la vie.

As for the article itself, I sort of drifted off after that. "Ivanhoe" is a quicker read.

But thanks for posting!

Alison Sweeney should stop giving interviews. She really sounds clueless and stupid when she speaks. And she honesty believes nothing is Sami's fault???
At least Chandler Massey understands his character. I'm glad that RAFE is admitting there is something there with Carrie. It will make this storyline THAT MUCH BETTER when he fucks the shit out of Carrie and gets her pregnant--and Sami will be left with nothing :)

Sweeney is clearly confused what with Biggest Loser/Days/Weight Loss Trash Books/Mommy Diets/Hollywood Mom Nights ( :teehee: ) and her doggy diet treats she is pushing....no wonder she doesn't understand her own character...she has low-cal doggy treats and Z-list celebrities constantly on her brain.

I'm so over Sami and AS. :frustration: Anything bad that happens to Sami is karma paying her back for all the crap she's done to her family and everyone else.

Gone, But Not Forgotten!

Rafe is better off without Sami, Carrie or no Carrie. I guess he can always move in with Gabi. If CAFE is suddenly stopped after this kiss, I will be pissed at the TPTB for leading us down this road. It would have been much more effective for them to go all the way. One passionate kiss, does not equate griefbeastsex. Sami can throw him out, but now who's gonna look after the kids? Sami clearly stated she just can't manage it all, to John..... I wonder what will happen to the kids or her job? What will Sami do... job vs kids? Can she afford a nanny? Not sure I even care, but strangely interested in how TPTB are going to sell it.

Almost, only not. I hate this hypocritical bitch more than I have ever hated any fictional character, yes, even more than Melanie, yes, even more than Dr. Tang. Even more than the two of them combined, and that, my friends, is a lotta hate.

I see both sides. Rafe doesn't know Sami cheated on him. He thinks she's been the perfect wife, and he still kisses her sister AND has feelings for her. He's no better then Sami, IMO! Sami should tell him the truth though.

Sounds very good. I really love the way they are handling the bulk of this. It's character-centric and realistic.

I just hope they stick with the pacing they have going on here. I don't want them to all of a sudden rush through the beats. Keep building to the big reveal so it means something and you get maximum impact out of it otherwise it isn't worth it. They are building a very intricate story here so I hope they keep it up.

If I woke from a coma and Channing Tatum told me he was my husband... I'd Believe Him!

I like Sami I really do, but what a hypocritical bitch. She says she was insane when she had the deadbabyboink, but PROVE IT... get some mental help and own up to your mistakes.
Yes Rafe kissing Carrie is wrong, but I am on her side more than anything... because Sami did worse and is making herself out to be the victim here.

While Rafe is 100% at fault...how can you say he is no better than Sami...

RAFE = Kissing you hot sister in law in the heat of the moment after being neglected by your wife OR

SAMI = Having a grunt fuck with her rapist, who nearly murdered her husband, who also hired a man who repeatedly raped her, who also tried to kill the father of her children...

Sami is MUCH worse than Rafe in this situation IMO.
