Yep. I agree. Rafe is caught up in the emotional cheating which is the most difficult part of an affair to break. Sex for sex is one thing, but when there are true emotions involved, it takes it to a whole new level. Interesting that we aren't really hearing anything from CC about this, nothing from Carrie's POV, just a bit about it from Ali. Is Carrie doing this b/c she wants to stick it to Sami and destroy her relationship with Rafe, or does she really have feelings for Rafe or both? |

I'm not seeing Carrie as trying to get back Sami at all, but if she causes scrunchy some pain and heartache by accident or on purpose, I have nothing against that. :D She's been way too nice to Sami ever since she got back anyways. And I prefer these two at each others' throats. |

I'm with you on this. I don't really see where Sweeney excused Sami. She explained her take on Sami...but that seemed reasonable, given that Sami is selfish and immature. I thought her comments were fine, though it would have been nice to see more from other people. As far as the story- meh. I'm not invested in anything besides my desire to see Sami return to her true form as a manipulative nightmare for the people around her. Edited by px780, Feb 2 2012, 12:45 PM.

I don't believe for one second the show is trying to give her "a pass" on what she did vs. what Rafe did/will do. But Aliaron is right. Sami's act with EJ had no feelings behind it. Rafe's does. It doesn't make either of them right, but it can make one act more wrong than the other. (to some of us I guess) If a spouse has an emotional affair with someone else and doesn't do any physical cheating at all, that just seems WAY worse to me than three minutes of random sex with nothing behind it. (I know Rafe does make out with Carrie, but even if he didn't, his emotional connection with Carrie is the real problem here). Knowing that my spouse might actually LOVE someone else is not something I could come back from/work through, whereas a random meaningless encounter, we might be able to move on from. Keep in mind, I think all cheating sucks. |

Rafe's attraction to Carrie is more damaging to Safe's relationship sure I'll give you that. But I still see both as equally wrong. And the reason I do feel like they are trying to give Sami a pass is because they are having Rafe attracted to Carrie before the reveal. I see them as setting it up so Sami doesn't look so bad. That's what this show always does. :drunk: |

^^I absolutely agree. Having Rafe emotionally cheat on Sami is absolutely supposed to let Sami off the hook, more or less, for the demise of her marriage. Sure, she cheated but Rafe doesn't know that. He can't use that as an excuse for what he's done. So, Sami didn't really destroy her marriage - Rafe did. Ergo, it's not her fault. Add in the fact that Sami believes that it should all be understood because she was grieving, it's really not her fault. I think the whole point of this is to have Sami reach a low point, but it will be because of what everybody else did to her, not because of what she did to herself. It's Madison's fault for deciding it was too dangerous to continue the plot against Kate. It's Rafe's fault for developing feelings for Carrie. It's clearly Carrie's fault too. Deadbabysex was all John's fault for putting the family in danger and we're all supposed to understand that Sami was just devastated. The only conclusion I can come to in all of this is that I'm supposed to feel sorry for Sami. That's a big fat fail. |

Sami is finally getting what she deserves. Rafe is going to move on with Sami's much prettier, smarter, mature sister Carrie.. I really hope it gets rubbed in her face and we see Rafe have the upper hand with Sami and is the one to dump HER for Carrie, that would make me very happy. |

It will be interesting (maybe) to see what actually happens. A large part of me thinks they are breaking up SAFE, not to give Sami a free "pass," but so that Lucas can swoop in and eventually lead to reuniting LUMI. Goes hand in hand with bringing all the vets back. ETA: Bringing the vets back to screw them all up. So, we'll see. Edited by michelle, Feb 2 2012, 01:42 PM.

I find no real reason to get upset with all the bedmate switching. Soapier soaps always have this. Have you been to Genoa City lately??? So many partner swaps and tradesies over the years.... DAYS is very believable... very few characters are ever left with their integrity in tack, that's just a given. The problem for DAYS vs the Y&R, is that they have too many supercouple relationships and that makes it hard to swap spit between just anyone. CAFE is such a good example... they could have been written 10x better, that is TPTB's fault, but the idea that it would and could happen is okay. Happy couples floating around Salem is not an viable option...they have to spend more time on story development, angst, character introspection. Hell, it could have been just as exciting to watch Rafe or Carrie have romantic fantasies about one another, rather than contrived attraction on set. I know they are doing with they Abby --Austin, but still it is a rush and the fantasies are not really romantic, they are intense from the get go. RUSH, RUSH, RUSH!! Days needs to slow down. Hot to cold in less than a second. The SL ideas are good, execution of the SL is the problem. Throwing Rafe out... what good is that... it would have been better for him to sleep on the couch for a while and let us see the emotions, actions and reactions going on between them. I think Sami and Rafe still love one another... even if it is not the ultimate relationship. Sami is in a bad place with her life so mess up and Rafe is just not able to figure out what's going on. There is enough drama for this couple alone... if TPTB would spend a little time.

What Sami did was awful, but she hates EJ and it was an act of desperation..Rafe is kissing Sami's sister and has started to develop feelings for her..That definitely cuts deeper in my opinion. |

I guess it's more acceptable to cheat on your husband and sleep with the bastard that "ruined your life" then it is to kiss your sister-in-law! |

I don't think it's about letting Sami off the hook so much as about ripping safe to shreds. With Sami's act, you could see Rafe saying she was out of her mind, EJ took advantage of her, blah blah blah and after a few weeks of being hurt, deciding to try and give her another chance. The way they're actually doing it though shows that safe wasn't built on as strong of a foundation as they thought they were. And, I think Sami's reaction to cafe's kiss makes her look even worse. Here she is blasting Rafe knowing full well she has an even bigger secret. |

But that "bastard" is still someone she once cared for and shares two children with. They have a past, good and bad. No one said anything about it being acceptable, but it isn't like she has been making googly eyes at him/spending time with him/connecting emotionally with him. She knows it was a mistake and is disgusted with herself. And she didn't "sleep" with him. She had meaningless sex for three minutes during extreme emotional grief. They didn't even finish for heaven's sake. Rafe and Carrie don't look disgusted. They look like they need a cigarette. |

If Sami knows it was a mistake and meaningless why didn't she tell her husband? |
