When I read this article I thought back to your idea about Melanie orchestrating the fake sex and artificially inseminating Abby. That would have been so good and it wouldn't have tarnished Abby's reputation. |

I'm all for it. The best characters on soaps have done sketchy things in the past, and just because Abby has an obsession with an older man does not mean that her character is "ruined" or "destroyed". I think this crazy streak is just temporary, and since Kate Mansi and Patrick Muldoon have the scene chemistry, I say bring it on! |

I love that everyone who is up for this story adds "as long as they don't destroy Abby's character". That is exactly how I feel. I was 100% opposed to it when it was a rumor because I like Abby and I adore that we have seen her on screen since birth. After KM's interviews I decided to put my toe into the water. She seems to remind us over and over in interviews that Abby is blurring the line between reality and fantasy (Young Jennifer actually did this all the time.), that Abby doesn't think she is doing anything wrong (Apple meet tree you haven't fell to far from each another) and that Abby "thinks" this is the beginning of a romance which makes me think that they haven't given KM any scripts yet that make her bat shit crazy. After this week, Abby tearing a bit into Jennifer and acting more like Daddy's little girl I feel like Abby is more true to her character. I also think the writing has been pretty good in regards to this story (OMG did I just compliment the writers? Seriously, dialogue wise, they are bringing things said weeks ago back up in conversation which gives it a nice flow.) and KM and PM have actually been playing it really well, so I will wade in the water knee high for now and go further in after I am fairly certain they aren't going to ruin Abby's character. By the way, I have seen that a decent amount of people aren't found of KM as Abby but honestly I think that has more to do with the writing and her lack of faith and devotion to her father than KM herself and if they continue to write Jack and Abby more in sync I would wager more people will be on the KM bandwagon. Personally, I think she plays the perfect mix of Jack and Jennifer (first run). |

Let me guess - Jack will be blamed for Abby turning into a psycho bitch. |

I'm hoping there will be a rift between Jennifer and Abby, while Jack and Abby grow closer. |

Jennifer's showing all of the signs of a mental breakdown, in my opinion - like mother, like daughter. |

A mental breakdown would be perfect, it would explain Jennifer's strange behaviour..because the Jen we're seeing right now, isn't the Jen we all know and love. |

As long as they don't send Abby on the crazy train I am really looking forward to where this storyline is headed. It's actually one part of the show that I'm consistently enjoying. KM is doing a great job of playing 'blinded by love' Abby and PM is playing 'clueless Austin' perfectly. I want to see the repercussions from this. |

Yeh, but Abby isn't crazy either. She's telling a lie, taking advantage of the circumstances (which I'm sure she'll regret later). You don't have to be crazy to do that. Abby hasn't lost it, IMO, she's growing up soap style. She's not goign to get it all right, but hopefully, she'll be ok in the end. Same thing with Will. He's a bit off the rails now, but I still love him and he'll get right again, eventually. |

Don't like this whole Abby/Austin storyline. It has ICK value written all over it, and it's just another plot driven story to cause problems with Austin and Carrie. Sorry, it also reaks of Sami/Austin from years ago. Don't want a redux. |

No, I think you'd have to be delusional to think that leading a guy to think he slept with you would work out. Austin isn't helping the situation with his mixed signals but there's no way he's not going to wake up next to Abby and not be feeling like a jerk for what he [thinks he] did to her and to Carrie. Abby seeing that and deciding to lie anyway shows that she doesn't have a good grasp on reality right now. |

Still, delusional doesn't equal crazy. Lots of college students/young adults are delusional. My brother is one of them, but he's hardly crazy. It's more than obvious that Abby has this fantasy about Austin that she's getting caught up in, but I'm just not seeing her as crazy yet. Hopefully it won't get there. Time will tell. Your brother is also an actual person though. And most young adults don't go around doing things that are definitely going to destroy people's lives. It's not even like she was having an affair with Austin and had a semi good reason to believe that this would end in them living happily ever after. Soap people don't do something like this and then wise up. They go deeper and deeper until their life is ruined and they've destroyed other people along the way. Abby might not be in Crazyville just yet, but she's bought the ticket and boarded the train that's going there. Edited by six, Feb 3 2012, 12:14 PM.

Hi, that was me. And I get the humor/history in your post. But, seriously, we all know protection against pregnancy isn't the only protection to be concerned about these days, and a diaphragm is not sufficient. As an adult male in the 21st Century, Austin should show responsibility -- or at least express regret/concern when he doesn't. Again, I get that this is all a ruse, but Austin doesn't know that yet. He should be devastated on several levels by even contemplating the idea of having drunken unprotected sex with a young woman who is not only his student, but who is also a friend/daughter of a friend/way too young for him. The fact that Abigail can't grasp how devastating it will be for Austin tells me she's not as grown up as she's trying to appear to be. I'm still thinking that part of Abigail's extreme naivete about her deception may be due in part to the fact that she herself is not yet sexually active. At that age, it's possible to be extremely smart and poised about school and work, yet be pretty uninformed and clueless about more intimate matters. We'll see. Like many others, I'm hoping this doesn't take Abby's character too far down the path of ruination. To use the metaphor above. I hope she gets off several stops before the train reaches Crazytown. Eh, we aren't going to agree on this. Real person or not, being delusional doesn't mean you're crazy, by definition. It means you aren't dealing with the reality of things. Most young people? No, but a lot of young people don't understand what getting from point A to point B entails and do indeed do things that can negatively affect those around them. Abby is an adult, but she's still young and naive. The scenes haven't played out yet so I don't know if I can say that Abby thinks this will lead to happily ever after. I think my main point was that you don't have to be crazy to lie or do something reckless. Lots of sane people make bad choices. That to me is Abby at the moment. I never said she was going to do this and wise up. Just that right now, She's hardly crazy. Of course, that could change in three months, but I think the more appropriate term at that point would probably, finally, rightfully be, obsessed. I just think people have been jumping the gun on this for months now. She was a stalker and a homewrecked at scene three. It's kind of ridiculous. |
